Chase is ecstatic to receive her second spell, and unexpectedly, it's the one she would have wished for in her first attempt at the Wheel. "Dancing lights!", she exclaims, doing a little dance herself, as if to mirror the spell she's just won.
Moments ago, she had been annoyed at the group for not sticking together as much as she'd like, but now that feeling has melted away. She nods to Lex and follows him with her golden and blue eyes, watching until he's surrounded by the other participants in Name the Unnameable. Then, she glances at Scratch playing his own game and thinks, "Well, why not?" With a quick decision, she runs toward that stall, and stands among the rest of spectators. When Scratch moves widdershins and passes near her, she'll try to help him with a little bit of magic—discreetly, of course.
(Stealth to cast the spell: 19. Or perhaps it had to be Sleight of hand? Then it is a 17)
Illuwentakes his place with the next group for 'What Time Is It, Mister Witch?' (about 15' away from the dummy) and in unison all the children shout together, "WHAT TIME IS IT, MISTER WITCH!?" The dummy of mister witch croaks, "5 o'clock!" and turns his back to the competitors. Now's your chance! [Make a Stealth Check]
Like second nature, Scratch runs perfect widdershins! But wait... what else rhymes with liver?? Oh no, he might be in trouble. Just then, Chasereaches out of the crowd unnoticed and touches her twin's shoulder. He feels different, almost as if he's more clever! [Make a Charisma Saving throw + 1d4]
As Lexapproaches the stall the Hand calls out, "It came from the unknowable, its desires are unpredictable, but what's its name? Do you know?"Lexgives his dandelion a blow signaling his desire to play the game. The Hand looks at him and says, "Alright, the game is just as it sounds. If you can guess this creature's name, you win. You get 3 guesses on a single puff of your dandelion. Good luck!" This silent creature sits on a cushion before you, and there are little signs strewn about behind it. the 3 signs to the far-left read "Hug", "Tum", and "Bog"; the 3 in the center left read "Ga", "Ra", and "La"; center right read "Bumple", "Funko", "Stortz"; and the far-right reads "Pede", "Plod", and "Kin".
Scratch is not happy. He stomps his feet and balls his hands into fists. Scowling, he doesn't even wait for the game to end. He walks over to Chase and says, "Let's get out of here. This game is stupid."
Chase is a bit disappointed when she sees that her spell hasn't helped her twin as much as she'd hoped. But at the same time ... oooh, the tingling in her fingers as she cast it! What a sensation! How exhilarating! She wants to feel that again. But, wait a moment, why are her fingertips suddenly glowing? Is that a thing that happens when people cast this particular spell? The Witchlight Hand at the Magic Wheel didn’t mention anything about that. Chase blinks, and her fingers are back to normal. Had she imagined it?
That trail of thought is quickly forgotten when Scratch speaks to her. "What? Oh! I'm sorry the game didn’t go well. Wanna try something else? Lex is over at "Name the Unnamable", and Illuwen and Isy are at "What Time Is It, Mr. Witchlight"? We could head to a different game and ask for Chandler there too. How about…" She glances around at the various attractions before pointing to one where kids are smacking a strange, many-eyed creature with toy mallets. "...that one? Looks fun. Come on, Scratch, think you can beat your elder sister?" Chase teases, hoping the familiar challenge will lift his spirits.
Suddenly remembering Star, Chase looks around for the kitten and gestures for her to follow. "Wanna come with us, Star?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Chase's teasing always lifts Scratch's spirits. He squares his shoulders and says, "You might be older, but I'm —" He trails off, trying to stand up as straight as possible. He scowls. He's really having to look up at Chase. He looks down at the ground. It appears level. He looks up again. Wait, now that he thinks about it, he remembers her saying something about him looking shorter. He doesn't like this, but he doesn't want to think about it. Trying to smile and look at ease, he mumbles, "Yeah, let's go play that one," and follows his twin over to the mallet game.
Lex rifles through his book in his mind, trying to place where this creature could have come from. “Gra…pla…” he rolls the words around in his mouth, then huffs, frustrated. He blurts out, “Its a Bog-Ga-Bumple-Kin!?!”
Isyjoins at What Time Is It, Mister Witch? and waits patiently for the next group to take their places.
Star excitedly looks at Chaseand with an enthusiastic growl, she follows along. As Chase, Scratch, and Star approach the Bash-A-Beholder game they hear the Hand shout out to the crowd, "Win a prize! Pulverize the beholder's eyes before you're mesmerized!" One by one, the twins step up to the platform and give their dandelions a blow. The Hand looks to them and says, "Alright my young adventurers! In this game the goal is to slay the dreaded Beholder! This creature has a bunch of eye stalks, as you can see. As the eyes emerge from those stalks you will need to bash them! You'll get only 5 swings and you'll need to hit 3 eyes to win a prize. But if you miss an eye, then it's the Beholder's turn and you could fall under one of his many spells! If you're ready, go ahead and step to the beholder." He hands you a wooden mallet and you each take your turn with the Beholder. [Make 5 Strength checks, 5 Dexterity saving throws, and 5d8]
Lexlooks over the clues and searches his mind for the right answer. With his answer given the creature, still silent, pauses for a moment before giving a *-nod-nod-nod*. The hand says, "Wow! You're super close! 3 out of 4 nods from the creature on your first guess! I'm impressed. Well, you have 2 more guesses!"
Chase turns to Scratch, and nudges him with a playful grin. "May the best twin win!", she teases. Suddenly, a spectator behind them yelps, "Ouch!", as if struck by an invisible spark. Chase looks back in surprise and then glances at her hand, but when nothing seems amiss she shrugs and turns her attention back to the game.
Swing 1: Chaseunfortunately swings wide and misses the eye. After the club misses, Chasenotices a purple gas coming from the beholder and manages to dodge out of the way.
Swing 2: Pow! The club connects with the eye!
Swing 3: Wham! Another one connects!
Swing 4: Swing and a miss! From the mouth of the Beholder seeps a green gas. Oh my, it smells sooooo bad! [RAW says to have you make a CON saving throw and on a failure you have disadvantage on the next swing, but I don't see the point with the roll.]
Swing 5: That smell is definitely throwing Chaseoff her game, as she misses her final swing. The missed eye stalk raises in the air and a green beam of light blasts from the eye and hits Chase! "Achu! Achu!" She can't stop sneezing! [For the next hour roll an additional d6 whenever you make an ability check, subtracting odd numbers from the result and adding even numbers]
"Sorry, little miss. You were so close! Looks like it's your turn." he says as he turns to Scratch and hands him the mallet.
Scratch happily cheers when Chase dodges the purple gas and manages to hit with her next two swings. "Oh, yuck!" he says, covering his nose after her fourth swing. When the green beam of light hits her after her fifth, his eyes go wide in surprise and fear, but when she starts sneezing, he relaxes and laughs. "Out of the way, Sneezy. It's time for me to show you how to do it."
Fair reminded me of her resistance blessing. I'm going to assume that you're using the saving throws in the order they are needed, so please add this to the 9: 4
Swing 1: Pow! Clocked that beholder right in the eye!
Swing 2: Near miss, but you managed to nick it!
Swing 3: Oh no! Complete miss. An iridescent beam shoots from the eye towards Scratch but, with cat-like reflexes, he manages to jump out of the way.
Swing 4: Another miss! Another iridescent beam shoots out of the eye at Scratch but this time he doesn't manage to get out of the way in time. As the beam hits, Scratch is covered head to toe in rainbow glitter that gets caught in his fur. It's going to take more than just a bath to get all of that out!
Swing 5: Crack! Like hitting rocks with a stick, Scratch has won!!!
"Congratulations! Not only do you look like a prize yourself, you also win one." He hands you a pair of very large green gloves and says, "When you wear these Giant's Gloves you hands will magically expand to fill them up! Pretty cool, huh?" [No physical benefits]
Scratch grins, puts on the gloves, and looks at Chase, looking smug. "That's how you do it, big sis," he says, thumbing his nose with one of his giant thumbs. He gives his head a shake, and glitter flies everywhere.
[Posting the below before asking my question, answer could change my second guess. It seemed not, but was there any indication as to which part of the name was correct?]
Lex is pleased to having guessed so closely his first try. He takes a moment to think, studies the animal and the choices then says:
“Bog-Ra-Bumple-Kin?”

Illuwen creeps forward as quietly as he can, keeping his eyes fixed on the pocket watch.
Stealth: 13
Round 1
Illuwen manages to creep 3 feet towards the dummy. Only 12 feet to go!
Contestant 2 is too hesitant and doesn't move.
Contestant 3 is extra sneaky and manages to get 7 feet with only 8 to go!
Contestant 4 trips and falls as he begins.
Contestant 5 only manages to get 1 foot. 14 feet left to go.
Charisma saving throw: 9 + 1d4: 1
Ugh
Though Scratch's feet are fancy, his tongue gets tied. He is unable to think of a rhyme in time and is the first one out.
Isy decides to join the stealth game in the next round. She blows on her dandelion when it is time for her to join.
