Racks of weapons line the walls of this chamber, including spears, swords, crossbows, and bolts. A dozen dirty red cloaks hang from hooks by the door.
No hidden compartments or doors are discovered. There is a very normal looking door at the diametric opposite end of the corridor from where the two men entered
Brand happens upon several stones with a similar pattern on them jutting out of the wall. They are in a neat row, top to bottom on each of the three walls. He sees the pattern on one is upside down compared to the rest. When he turns it right way up, the wall to his left slides quietly back to reveal a room beyond. From the furnishings, it looks to be a bedroom.
The walls of the bedchamber are covered with drapes of scarlet cloth. The furnishings include a small writing desk with matching chair, a comfortable-looking bed, and a wooden chest at the foot of the bed.
Sitting at the desk is a short, dark-bearded human male in robes, studying a tome. He wears a princely mantle of ermine. A beautiful glass staff leans against his chair, within easy reach.
"My goodness you surprised me. I did not expect to have guests, and by such an unusual route no less!"
He stands, leaning heavily on the staff as if getting up requires great effort.
"I am Iarno Albrek indeed. I came here at the behest of my superiors in the Lord's Alliance to set up a constabulary. May I ask who you are, dear guests?”
Brand Bows slightly in greeting and steps closer to Iarno and shakes his hand.
" Well met Sir Albrek. We are adventurers on a journey. I am Brand and these are Ollanius, Val and Lucius. We happened to save Sildar from a bugbear leading some goblins on our travels. He is doing quite well, but was unable to continue the search for you as his duties called him back to work."
Brand makes a sweeping gesture with an open palm in the direction of his companions as he says their names. Brand then clasps his hands again infront of him as he finishes speaking.
Brand then looks around the room and then let's his eyes settle back on Iarno.
"What are you doing in this room? You have been missing for some time. and Sildar is quite worried."
"Missing? Really? I don't know why Sildar would be searching for me, the guild master would have told him what my assignment was surely..."
Tap. Tap. Tap. The staff clicks loudly against the stone floor as he puts his weight on it while he ambles around the room.
"Thank you for keeping my friend safe, dear guests. As to what I am doing in this room, this is where I stay my nights. You came through the wall as I was reading. I always try to read before I put my head down. Makes for more restful sleep, wouldn't you agree?"
Ollanius studies the room and studies the man. His initial suspicions that the wizard may be of the undead are unfounded when he studies his movements and bearing. He spots no traps in hiding or levers waiting to be pulled.
The tone of his voice suggests no lies have been told. Something is off about the way the man is moving though but he just can't put his finger on what......
"oh, tis but a simple book on the geography and history of Phandalin and the wider local area. Very beautiful area, natural wonders and such you understand. Interestingly, very good working relationship between dwarves and humans for many years around here, even before that became commonplace."
"Dear guests, is there aught else I can help you with? The hour grows late and you can see I am safe and well. I am sure Sildar will be relieved to hear this, the old worrywart haha"

Your thorough searching finds not one but two, TWO, hidden doors.
The door on the right opens into a short corridor which appears to have been converted into a makeshift armoury.
The door on the left has a staircase of around 10 steps leading down...
Ol draws the attention of the group to the two rooms. His years of service naturally draw him first towards the armoury.
’before I’m going down those steps I’m having a look at what we have here’
he inspects the weapons…..
"I'll collect all the weapons in my backpack for sale in town if it turns out they're all junk"
Brand says to the party as he also looks over the weapons and any boxes crates and barrels in the room.
"Fancy detecting if there are any magic items in the armory Val?"

No hidden compartments or doors are discovered. There is a very normal looking door at the diametric opposite end of the corridor from where the two men entered
The weapon racks hold twelve spears, six shortswords, four longswords, six light crossbows, and eight quivers holding twenty crossbow bolts each.
The short staircase beyond the secret door is lit by a single sconce. It leads down to a small patch of clear floor and what appears to be a dead end.
‘CURIOUS’ says Ol as he looks at the walls of the dead end and begins looking high and low for a secret to this dead end

Brand looks the man reading the tomb over and remembers the description of the missing wizard. He clasps his hands infront of him and puts on a smile.
"Iarno Alberk, I presume?"
Brand tries to read the wizard's expressions and intentions to ensure he isn't lying when he responds.

"We are here looking for you at Sildar's behest. What are you doing here?"
The man at the table looks up with a start.
"My goodness you surprised me. I did not expect to have guests, and by such an unusual route no less!"

"I am Iarno Albrek indeed. I came here at the behest of my superiors in the Lord's Alliance to set up a constabulary. May I ask who you are, dear guests?”
He chuckles warmly. "And how is old Sildar?"
You detect no lies in what he has said.
Brand Bows slightly in greeting and steps closer to Iarno and shakes his hand.

Ols heckles are up. He whispers to his colleagues “Errrrrm. Does anyone else not think this is a little bit weird? and where’s the constabulary”

He smiles again, his back bent with weariness.
Ol grips the shaft of his club subtly. Something is most certainly off, and he knows that three taps of that staff means something.
He eyes the room waiting for the ambush. He whispers to his colleagues ‘be ready’.

‘I’ve not had the chance for a good read in quite some time. Tell us what it is you are reading you were quite involved with it.’
Ol attempts to gain a glance at the book.
