Etriel looks carefully. No yeti tracks are visible. Especially not after that snowstorm. These tracks are much smaller. Smaller than your own tracks and humanoid And multiple of them too. It's hard to see exactly how many but it's more than 3. Etriel can follow them easily
With no traces of the Yeti... Etriel Darastrix decides to follow the ones she found: "This is curious, my faithful companions. There are no traces of Yeti left... but many traces of small humanoids - smaller than an elf like me. Let us follow them... whoever left them may be involved in this affair - or, if not, at least know how to find the Yeti".
[[ OOC: As for useful objects or personal effects, however, nothing was left on the corpses, I assume? ]]
Unless someone has better proposals, the Eladrin Huntress continues to lead the hunt...
"The shadows are falling, Lord Neldak..." the foreign traveler replies "Soon it will be dark... I personally hope that these creatures, having left tracks before, have diurnal habits - and therefore that they will soon find shelter to spend the night. I would not suggest that we hurry - perhaps with the risk of following the tracks worse or of being discovered more easily. I could obviously be wrong, but I do not think we need to run this risk".
(apologies if it was not clear. It was just one body, and you were only expecting one body).
Etriel, the tracks were made in the last hour or so. They are fresh so you think you can catch up with them quite quickly. So with that knowledge you head off before you start to get too tired. Sure enough. after half an hour of travelling you catch up to the creatures.
The creatures you’ve been following appear to be goblins, based on their stature. Six of them groan, grunt, and curse loudly as they haul the bulky sled of iron ingots that you are after, towards what appears to be a twenty-foot-tall wagon parked in the snow. Harnessed to the tall wagon are two roaring polar bears that don’t look happy.
You are about 120ft from the goblins and sled. And they are a further 120ft away from the wagon and polar bears.
[[ OOC: I was waiting for DM's OK to actually start rolling for the fight, but since someone is already doing... why should Etriel not do the same? Here we go! ]]
It sounded like you were waiting for your allies to give the okay rather than the DM. The goblins haven't noticed you, so if you wish to attack, you wish to attack. I am using 2024 monsters where I can. And they have (slightly) more than the 7hp of 2014 goblins so you haven't killed one each. Are attacking one each, or are you aiming for the same one until it is down and then moving onto the next one?
[[ OOC: Oh, OK, I was expecting the party members as well, to see if someone was against the attack - but I was also waiting for a sort of 'OK, go on and attack' by the DM before actually rolling. Maybe I should have made this more clear. No problem anyway! ]]
Etriel wants to eliminate as many as possible... so she is aiming for the same one until it is down and then moving onto the next one.
Danon rushes forward and forms his hands together, casting a bolt of fire toward the next goblin, hoping to bring the element of surprise. “Let’s get after them before they reach the polar bears, onward!” He rushes forward 40 feet to close the distance.
Fire bolt : 13 to hit, for 9 points of fire damage.
Between your 5 attacks, 2 drop down dead, and Danon misses. (Cirim barely hit).
The remaining 4 look startled and jump behind the cart using it as cover, and three start firing bows at you. They all aim at Danon as he is the closest, but only one hits (6 piercing damage). The 4th survivor gets out a horn and blows it (but nothing is observed yet).
Neldak slows his approach as he sees the goblins taking cover behind the cart and casts a level 1 magic missile at one of the goblins. The missiles deal a total of 7 force damage (3+2+2)
Etriel Darastrix feels a slight pang of disappointment - the goblins were luckier (and harder to kill) than expected and managed to call for help.
'You can't change the past...' the foreign traveler immediately focuses on a possible solution 'But the future you can indeed - through the actions of the present! We must eliminate them before reinforcements arrive.'
Now... How much cover do the goblins have? 1/2? 3/4? Total?
If the goblins have 1/2 or 3/4 cover:
Considering that the goblins now have some cover, but that, to use their bows, they must have put away their shields, the eladrin huntress advances towards them, taking aim and continuing to shoot arrows.
[[ OOC: Etriel Darastrix moves 30' towards the enemies then fires another arrow. She targets the one already injured by Neldak. ]]
If the goblins have Total cover:
Unable to target the goblins completely hidden by their makeshift barrier, the eladrin huntress slings her bow and runs toward them, wanting to reach them as quickly as possible and finish them off in melee.
[[ OOC: Etriel Darastrix Dashes, moving 60' towards the enemies ]]
Half cover. (and the new stat blocks don't mention shields in the AC. I think it's part of their attempt to simplify it but I might still adjust for lack of shield).

Neldak follows Etriel. "Should we quicken our pace to catchup? Or do you think they might make camp soon, so we'll quickly overtake them?"

"We must kill the goblin raiders before they can run to the bears and get help!" Etriel Darastrix advises.
Unless someone stops her, the Eladrin Huntress shots one of the small enemies with an arrow from her Longbow.
Neldak will follow Etriel's shot with a firebolt for a 21 to hit, 8 fire damage. He'll move forward to get closer to the goblins.
Cirim follows suit and shoots her own Fire bolt
15 dmg: 8 fire

Etriel Darastrix's Longbow Attack: 18 Damage: 8 (piercing)

Yep, good plan!
Idalie (who has suddenly re-appeared seemingly out of nowhere) is 100% onboard with the "zap now, ask questions never" approach.
She shoots an eldritch blast at whatever everyone else is shooting it.
Attack: 22; Damage: 6 (force)
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Provide feedback!
