The outline of Rauvincross enters your vision and grows larger as you continue. The mist from the river is thicker closer to town, rolling off of the river and lightly obscuring the settlement. Traveling the main road, the building emerge from the haze like silent gravestones. There are no fires, sound, or movement. The small settlement appears to be completely deserted.
All of you catch a glimpse of a tower floating far in the distance. Just as quickly, it is gone.

"I'll take a quick look ahead and come back immediately to report what I'll see."
Meepo readies his spear as he moves silently to the buildings of Rauvincross to check through the windows and doors if there is anyone inside in what seems to be an abandoned settlement.
In quiet and deliberate voicing, I address the rest of the team - "Let's get low and tight to the buildings. Keep your eyes open. Karst - help make sure nothing creeps up on us. I will cover front point alongside Meepo. Keep weapons ready. "
I draw my long sword and keep ears and eyes open as I proceed in formation.

Meepo moves like a shadow, untroubled through the settlement. Most building appear to have been abandoned in a hurry; the essentials gone, but many humble items left behind. Many buildings appear to have been ransacked, leaving nothing valuable behind.
On a hitching post close to the town's entrance, Bartram and Travus notice that Thieves' Cant markings have been etched into it, indicating two things: Danger, and that the town has been picked clean.
A conversation in a strange language can be heard in the distance. Meepo is close enough to tell that the voices are speaking in Goblin, but can't make out the words being spoken.

Meepo returns back to his nearest comrade to report his findings.
"Rauvincross seems to have been raided as the place was wiped clean of precious things and there were a couple of voices speaking in Goblin ahead in that general direction."
The kobold points his fingers to where he heard it.
"I will attempt to eavesdrop if I can manage to hear them once I go back."
Meepo attempts to return back quietly to hear more of the conversation.
Approaching the voices' source, Meepo catches a glimpse of the speakers.
For Meepo:
You see a roguish looking rock gnome in dark robes speaking with a bugbear. The gnome is speaking to the bugbear in hushed tones, but forcefully. The bugbear bows repeatedly, seeming very respectful of the gnome.
Meepo hears the conversation stop, and some quiet footsteps approach. From a short distance away outside the alley, he hears a high-pitched voice speaking loudly in Common. The others at the entrance to town also hear this voice.
"Whoever you are, I am no danger to you. Are you a danger to me?"
OOC: Since it's been a day I'll assume that everyone else is agreeable to a face-to-face meeting.
You find yourselves face-to-face with a rock gnome with a gaudy mustache and a colorful cape. He bows low as he introduces himself to you.
"Fumbles McNilrog, at your service. Judging by your cautious approach I'm assuming you think I had something to do with this town up and vamoosing, but I assure you that is not the case. I am looking for a halfling named Doramor. Short fellow like me, not nearly as handsome, grumpy and most likely covered with chain mail. Seen him in your travels, by chance?"
OOC: As I said, everyone at the entrance could hear the gnome speaking loudly as well, and Aradurk called out to him for a face to face meeting, and there were no other posts in a day, so he obliged.
“Wish our meeting were nearer to the location of a pour of ale”, I say as I reach out to extend a hand. I assess him cautiously, attempting to assess the veracity of his statments.
“We ride toward business. I cannot say we have encountered that which you describe. A few Kobold Uinion members a hop back but no halflings. Any idea what happened here?”

"I don't know what happened to the townsfolk. It's like my cousin Creque, they just disappeared one day," Fumbles says, scratching his head. "Haven't spent much time investigating it myself, though. If you do see Doramor, take extreme caution. He is not one to be trifled with, I would know."

Meepo makes a general look of the layout around him to know where he could securely attach his hunting trap and cover it.
The voices are coming from a main street, with many alleys intersecting it. A hunting trap could be placed in any of those.

Meepo places and hides his hunting trap behind the cover of his alley in respect to the the speaker's direction.
The kobold then tries to call their attention by rattling the stuff next to him followed by mimicking a barking dog.
