Hearing the sounds from inside, Whisper hurries to knock on the door as loudly as she can. Maybe they caught up in time to talk to the wizard before he travels to this supposed other plane!

"Oh a druidic tome! I haven't been to the library in ages. Perhaps I could see about this other realm's sun. Maybe it will give us some perspective into our gloomy conditions. Perhaps some of you could talk to the spectors and see why they cling here while I am gone....the friendly ones of course."

Some of the noise stops, and a man slightly creaks the door open. He's an elderly halfling dressed in plain tan sackcloth clothing. He has dark brown eyes and smokey gray hair, and a clean-shaven face. Peaking through the window, he croaks out "Who are you?" in a messy and uneven voice, as if he is having difficulty speaking. He coughs into his arm and waits for a reply.

[assuming you are traveling to the library]

The building is made of fine marble, and because the cavern world has no weather, it has resisted damage perfectly. It has 3 floors, each of them large and full of books. The first are on the typical subjects, the second all magical, and the third forbidden to all. While it is illegal to enter the 3rd floor, nothing ever stops you from going there. The inside has fine mahogany shelves, and a halfling is lazily sitting at the front desk.

Whisper is relieved the man answered the door. "I'm Whisper and that's Beans," she explains, "Are you Jeran Zephadee?"

Thrudor stans at the desk smiling, waiting....finally he says "Hello there! I am looking for a book on floor two written by a druid. It is called something along the lines of 'The True Nature We Don't Have'. I believe it has a green cover."

"Why do you ask?" You notice through the door a ring of salt on the ground and a large flickering blue light inside it, as well several lit candles and what looks like a tiny alter filled with lavender right below the blue light.

To Antlan

He yawns. "I need to sleep more... What? Oh, um, second floor. The nature stuff is in the corner farthest from the door." He starts snoring again after a couple seconds.

"Well, we found something that belongs to you...but first, could you have a look at this artefact I found?" She pulls out the clay plate carefully and holds it out to him. "From what I can tell, it talks about other worlds."

*my attack actually did 20 damage, I forgot the -1.*

Clapper will point a finger at the hobgoblin and cast eldritch blast. 8 to hit, 4 force damage.
"DEUS EX MACHINA!" He will than pull out his rapier and dagger and use his bonus action to activate two weapon fighting. In case this now turns into a right proper battle, initiative: 9. Also, if anyone damages me, I'll take my reaction to cast hellish rebuke. The target must make a DEX saving throw or take 10 fire damage. On a successful save they take half as much.

There is a long pause as he looks at it. He eventually says "This is powerful information. I've suspected for a long time that we live on the elemental plane of earth, and this confirms it. The world is alive... the world is alive... But is there really good in the Dao?" He looks at it for a moment before handing it back. "There is a world where most mortals live, the material plane. But there are elemental extensions to it of air, earth, fire and water. We live on the plane of earth, some place we were never meant to live. If the earth is our enemy like the plate says, then we really should leave this world. But there's a line I don't get. 'Tell the Dao he can be good again so the multiverse can be free again.' Why is the multiverse not free, and how does one Dao change that? And Dao's are naturally evil. And it says the Dao is in danger too and that's he's a puppet. But won't his opinions match that of the plane of earth?"

The hobgoblin quickly steps out of the way and launches Poison Spray with 4 to hit and 11 poison damage. "3 to 1." The hobgoblin says mockingly. "You're coming with us easily."
