Exactly what it sounds like: I want to run Curse of Strahd. I'm a new DM, so please have patience with me. I'm good for either new or experienced players. Most content is allowed, just not the 2024 content (I'm not ready to balance around that). Not a hard rule, but try to stay away from the lineages in Van Richten's as I may use them.
One notable house rule I use is called the Deus Ex Machina, where if a character would die, they are instead saved from death at a price.
Start at level 3, we won't do the Death House.

Unsure why it got a warning. Trying to do this on mobile and guess I pressed something by accident. But I can definitely work with these stats or reroll, just let me know. Character wip.

Name: Kessintra Dyrr
Species: Drow
Class/Subclass: Rogue / Phantom
Background: Haunted One
Ability Scores: Above
Backstory: Kessintra Dyrr was once an assassin for a powerful Drow house, killing with precision and cold detachment in the name of her family’s ambitions. However, when a mission went horribly wrong, she began hearing the voices of those she had killed. Their spirits lingered around her, haunting her every step. The weight of her actions, and the torment of these restless souls, drove her to abandon the Underdark in search of redemption.
Along her journey to the surface, Kessintra came across an old, weathered lyre. Something about the instrument drew her to it, though she had no skill in music and had barely spoken much before leaving the Underdark. Yet, when she held the lyre, she felt an odd sense of peace, as though one of the spirits attached to her was guiding her fingers across the strings.
Despite her haunted existence, the lyre became her most cherished possession. It gave her a voice she never knew she had, and for brief moments when she played, the weight of her past seemed to lift.
Now, Kessintra walks the surface world, guided by the dead, using the powers she once wielded for evil to protect the living. Although she works in the shadows and communes with death, her heart is driven by a desire to protect the innocent and undo the wrongs of her past.
Backstory: Garrick's father is a mechanic, his father was before him, and his father before him, each passing down the knowledge of the generations before. He grew up with a screwdriver in one hand and a wrench in the other. He always love to take things apart and build something completely new. It wasn't until he was 10 that his father began teaching him the deeper secrets of the Artificer, including magics and infusions. Garrick loved his family and their shop, but restlessness grew in his heart and he yearned for adventure. Despite this, he remained a loyal son and continued the family traditions. When he became 30 his town was attacked by a swarm of undead and his father, bravely and foolishly, stood at the forefront of the defense and perished in the struggle. The town was able to rebuff the attack, but at heavy losses and damage. With nothing left tying Garrick to his birthplace, he ventured out to find his own path and fortune.
Jairus Oliver Vampire Paladin, Deathknight. Jairus is an interesting character for sure. He has some very 'dark' things about him, and some not so idea ways of going about life, but he also is doing his best to protect the innocent, and do good for the land. I've had Jairus for a while, hoping to put him in a CoS. I think it'll be loads of fun, and really interesting. I don't have a backstory for him, because he doesn't really have one. Somehow, whatever happened that turned him into a vampire (he doesn't remember how it happened) messed up, and completely redirected his morale compass.

Neat! Definitely interested in this. Won't have time to fully develop a character until later tonight though.
