The heat of Kessintra's rage has started to cool by the time they set out. Her hands unconsciously strum a calming melody on her lyre as she walks.
"We'll...we'll get her back, somehow. We just have to stay calm and observe, wait for our chance." She says this more for herself than anyone. "The letter said 'my beloved Tatyana'. I guess that's who Ireena looks like to that lunatic. Ismirk, have you ever heard of her?"
Zan equips his gear, well not crazy about the idea of this, however it would seem his reach is long and powerful enough to kill us anywhere he'd like. would we have time rest before the way and meet?
Being an elf who has lived for more than a century, Amelia knows all too well the chaos that follows when a ruler of human society is slain, leaving a massive power vacuum. Even if the ruler is evil, the aftermath is rarely pretty.
Still, that knowledge doesn't stop her from giving the woman a proper farewell.
“Tell your master that he can dine with any demon in the abyss—but not with us! Especially not with ME!”
Amelia declares. She grasps the letter from Strahd and incinerates it in a blaze of holy light, (Sacred Flame)
Before leaving the cursed town, Amelia speaks to Ismirk .
“Can you tell me about the wizard who led the revolt in your hometown? Did he have any servants? A fortune-teller told us that to defeat the vampire, we need to find a wizard’s tower. I’m not sure if the two wizards are the same person, but it’s worth investigating.”
Kess glances at Amelia as they leave town, looking almost confused for a moment before giving a small nod. "Ah, I shouldn't have assumed...I'm going to the castle. It's what I was planning to do before the letter anyway. I...just need to know if there's still a chance for Ireena."
If you were trying to get to Castle Ravenloft you could short rest then go.
You see the heavenly light decent, engulfing the letter. The parchment tears into the shreds, each piece starting to fall. However, when the light leaves the letter merges back together, looking the same as when you first received it.
Ismirk's expression is distant. His mind is obviously elsewhere. "Um, wizard. He had an intricate staff and giant spellbook. He paraded through town, taking people with him, then never returned."

Hmm I don’t like the idea of walking into the lion’s den either Amelia. Perhaps we shall discover a weakness or secret way in on our visit. Anything we can use later on for our advantage.
Chipper calls back Skipper after getting his spellbook. He's no fan of Strahd's worshippers taking over the town. Though Fiona's reference to Ireena as Tattyana intrigues him. A note to file away. That and Fiona's nonchalance at Kessintra's death threat.
Of the letter he says to Garrick, "At most we helped via the fight against Izek. But even then the cultists were already burning down buildings by then. It doesn't seem logical that we were the deciding crux of his siege. I think the devil is toying with us."
Amelia's desire to burn the letter followed by its resurgence piques his curiosity and overrides other concerns for a moment. "Fascinating!" he exclaims in delight while picking it up with his foot to examine. "I do wonder what magic holds this together?" He takes some minor tears out of it himself. A few times just letting it lay together. And a final time holding the torn bit away from the rest to see if it would still force its way back whole. Arcana: 7+6 = 13
"If he wanted to kill us I think he would've already had his cultists do the work. At the very least a meal in our bellies is one less concern." he opines of the dinner. He smiles, "And an excellent chance for spywork." He turns to Kessintra, "You're quite sneaky. Think you and I could work out a little code of things to investigate? Odds are he wouldn't begrudge his guests to, the privy to, ahem, lose some weight during the feast."
[[ Short Rest taken. One hit die spent, recovered 3hp.
You find that it's hard to tear the parchment with your bare hands, and when you do it immediately attempts to reform. Through some struggle, you're able to find that the letter always finds its way back together after some time, even being able to sort its pieces into the right places. It doesn't seem like a spell, at least, not a spell you've heard of.

Kessintra watches Chipper experiment with the paper with faint curiosity, glad to have something to distract her from the dread building in the back of her mind.
"True. Strahd could have killed us back at the church if he'd wanted to, or just ignored us and killed Ireena then. But he didn't...Maybe he just wants people to gloat to, but if it might buy her some time I'm willing to play along." She gives a slight smirk at the wizard's suggestion, nodding. "Of course. Any information we can gather could be vital later. 'In the coffin'...His must be somewhere in the castle, right?"
Amelia glares at the paper as it slowly begins to regenerate, defying her efforts to destroy it. Frustration flashes across her face. She looks around at her companions, letting out a resigned sigh.
“Fine…” she mutters. “But I still won’t dine with him.”
"A splendid idea! Garrick!" he turns to the artificer, "Could I borrow some ink from you?" He draws a small line and then rips that part of the parchment to see what happens.
Along the way he'll also ritual cast detect magic to see if there's a specific school of magic on the parchment. (Guessing Transmutation, but curious.)
Garrick equips his gear and hands back Kess’ dagger.
As Garrick reads the letter, anger rises up within him. What does this mean, “helped his worshipper” how did we help him!
Ismirk, I’m sorry we failed to protect your sister.

You find the one arrow. I.... forgot about Ismirk. He's been following you around. He should have fought against Izek.
"I guess.... I guess there's nothing we can do now. I should have never lead her here."

It seems not even here is safe from his reach. It sure went downhill fast.
