Kess laughs triumphantly, clearly enjoying the ride even if she has to cling to Ada not to go flying off. "Ha, the rest of you should try too! It's not every day you get a chance like this!"
Razz hovers alongside the speeding tiger, watching as Kess barely manages to stay on by holding onto Ada. He raises an eyebrow, wings flicking with amusement.
"Oh yeah, because that looks like a controlled and dignified experience."
He gestures at Kess, her grip on Ada looking a little more survival than style.
"Very tempting, truly. But, uh, I think I’ll pass—some of us prefer to fly through the streets without needing a death grip on a paladin for dear life."
He smirks, spinning lazily in the air before adding,
"Also, someone’s gotta be available to narrate when one of you inevitably wipes out. You know, for historical accuracy."
Ada laughs, thoroughly enjoying herself, as she holds onto Viktor dear life. The tiger continues his prowl through the streets of Vallaki. If the paladin understood what the tiger said about hunting for Vistani, she might be less amused, but she's currently having a ton of fun.
Razz sighs as he keeps pace with Viktor, wings fluttering faster to keep up with the big cat’s enthusiasm. He clears his throat.
"Alright, Viktor, listen up. You’re looking for Vistani, yeah? Well, great news—there’s about to be a whole lot of them heading straight for the church. You want guaranteed fresh meat? That’s where you’ll get it."
He gestures dramatically back toward the church.
"So, instead of prowling empty streets, how about we head back and let them come to you? Makes the hunt easier, and less runny around for everyone."
Viktor's sudden stop before taking off again towards the church makes Kess yell in surprise as she barely manages to hold on by giving Ada the unintentional hug of her life.
"Aw...I mean yes, back to the task at hand,"she states, resisting the urge to pout as she dismounts the now stationary tiger and looks to the others like nothing out of the ordinary happened.
Ada dismounts Viktor and tries to suppress a smile, smoothing down the tabard with the symbol of Lathander she wears over her armor. "Yes," she says, trying to compose her expression back into a serious one. "Yes, let's get down to business."
She examines the area in front of the church, as well as glancing up at the steeple. "I should wait out here with Viktor, draw their attention," she says. "While they are focused on me and Viktor, everyone else can get the drop on them hopefully."
Razz flits down, landing lightly next to Viktor with a satisfied nod.
"See? Much better. Now you just sit here, look terrifying, and wait for the buffet to arrive. Minimal effort, maximum results."
He turns to Garrick with a smirk, wings flicking in amusement.
"Oh yeah, all done. Just figured we’d squeeze in some light cavalry training before the apocalypse. Gotta keep things balanced."
His attention shifts to Ada as she regains her composure, outlining her plan. He tilts his head, considering.
"Not a bad idea. Viktor’s a great distraction, and, well—so are you. No offense, but you do have that whole ‘knight in shining armor, smite-you-in-the-face’ presence going for you."
He pauses, glancing around.
"Alright, if Ada and Viktor are playing bait, then I assume that means we’re setting up an ambush. Where are we hiding the rest of the fun?"
"I'll find a spot on the roof. Should be able to pick off a good many with my longbow," Kessintra remarks, gesturing to her rope and grappling hook that are still in place from her watch.
“Hmm I think I should be with Ada. I don’t like the idea of her being the center of attention here. Plus I can shoot my crossbow at them while they are far or near. Striker should be able to help protect her as well.”
Chipper joins Kess on the roof. "Got a decent amount of ranged spells." he says. "Besides," he gestures to his skin flaps, "can always get down in a jiff if needs be."
Prior he also decides to cast alarm ritually a couple times too (audible alarm) around the church in places like the back and in front of windows or nearby potential hiding spots to give the party alerts if they're snuck up on.
Kess nods to Chipper, giving a small smile. "I'll be glad for the company." She carefully rolls up her rope and places it and her grappling hook back into her pack.
As you settle in and prepare for the upcoming battle, you notice a warm glow on the horizon. Unfortunately, the view is obscured by dense cloud cover, but there's still enough light to indicate that the sun is about to rise, bringing with it a glimmer of hope.
Before you can fully appreciate the view, a stench of death overwhelms your senses. Looking over, you spot a horde of countless vampires about 120 feet away. Among them, you see a few skeletons, cultists, wolves, and bats, all rushing toward the church as fast as they can.
(I'll take my first turn since I'm before the horde.)
"Come, fiends! Come to your deaths!" the paladin cries. She raises her halberd into the air and, as before, large, white wings sprout magically from her back, shining with holy radiance. She hovers about five feet above the ground, pointing her halberd toward the horde menacingly.
To her new friends, Ada shouts, "Take heart, friends! We will be triumphant!"

"Alright, alright—solid plans all around. Sniping from above, frontline backup, and me… well, I’ll just be over here, definitely blending in."
With a dramatic flourish, he waves his hand, casting Minor Illusion to create a very plain and ordinary crate.
A crate with totally inconspicuous peep holes.
He steps inside the illusion, making sure everyone sees him do it before crouching comfortably. His voice calls out from inside, perfectly audible.
"Stealth? Mastered. No one will suspect a thing. This is peak strategic positioning."
After a pause, his head peeks slightly through the illusion, looking toward Chipper.
"Before things really kick off—what kind of magical mayhem are you about to get into, Chipper? Just, you know, so I can brace myself."
Chipper joins Kess on the roof. "Got a decent amount of ranged spells." he says. "Besides," he gestures to his skin flaps, "can always get down in a jiff if needs be."

The horde, indifferent to whatever Ada plans on doing, rushes 60ft forward. They're only 60ft away from the church.
Garrick's turn.
I exist sometimes, especially when I'm DMing Curse of Strahd.
Garrick will target the horde and cast faerie fire (DC 14 Dex), any that fail are illuminated in green light and any that are invisible are revealed.
(it’s a 20ft cube; 60ft range, so he’ll cast it wherever it’ll encompass the most)
Five vampires and one cultist are illuminated. No invisible creatures are revealed.
Viktor looks up, sees the horde, and just sits there. (He also takes the dodge action, just in case).
Chipper's turn.
