Kessintra stares the beast in the eye calmly, though she certainly hadn't expected an owlbear. She would rather not kill the beast if she doesn't have to--both for her health and the creature's. Feeling a phantom pull of her hand towards her lyre, she stows her weapons and pulls it out, playing a gentle melody to try to calm the beast.

OOC - Just bc I don't know for sure, is this an actual feature/trait/skill or just role playing "rule of cool"?
Hmm maybe we should see if Skipper can calm the beast down… it is part owl 🦉after all. What do you think Chipper? Or should we just get into a formation and attack? I don’t think we can leave this beast locked up like this and if we let it free, it could attack innocents.
"I feel like an owl would not be much of a companion to the beast. Might have better luck with more of Kessintra's song and a chunk of meat." responds Chipper. He thinks for a moment, musing as intellectual curiosity gets the better of him, "That said I've heard the rumors such monstrosities were created by a wizard of some sort. So the idea a fey familiar, such as himself, could calm one isn't totally unreasonable. Though I'd certainly need my costs covered if the need to resummon him arises as a result of the attempt."
Nature: 3+4 = 7 //for any knowledge of if owls are naturally calming to owlbears
[[ self-note to remember: Also ready action to temporarily dismiss Skipper if the owlbear attacks if we attempt this ]]
You are probably right, that will not work. The bear part of him would probably think Skipper is food. It has also most likely been corrupted by the goblins. Let us end its life.
OOC - I think we are waiting on Amelia and Zan’s initiative rolls still
"Yes, the goblins must have trained it, or have some way of controlling it, to keep it in an unlocked room, unchained...But, might we check other rooms first? We may find meat, or whatever method they use, and use it ourselves." Kessintra suggests, doubting her song will work again.
You two are able to make it to the last door. Behind it you hear the sounds of a goblin, but deeper, and less panicked than the last goblins were. You can also hear the sounds of a wolf or dog.

"Hm...Sounds like this may be some kind of beast master goblin or hobgoblin," Kessintra observes, moving to the back of the group and slipping into the shadows as she draws her bow.
Let’s take this group out and then see if there is anything for the owlbear, if not we should engage with it as well. Garrick positions himself at the door, waits for the others to get their spot, and then forces the door open.

((How big is the room?))
It's a 10 ft radius cylinder 15 ft tall. The owlbear is in the center of the room.

Ooc: Just rule of cool. I figured I'd try since I got a high roll.
The monster tilts its head at you, a bit confused. You've at least lowered its guard.

Seeing her chance, Kessintra slowly backs out of the room and shuts the door with a sigh of relief.

Very well. I believe there was only 1 more room still intact. We go there and excavate and listen at the door for any sign of what’s within.

Kessintra will help excavate the last room too, this time listening at the door carefully and not rushing in.
