Daggerford is less than a day ride along the main road.  The other option is to follow the Delimbiyr River directly to your goal.

"Does anybody know how to identify the magical properties of items? It seems I am clueless after our rest. If not, I propose we head to Daggerford so I can track someone down for that service. This shield could come in handy," Tyrus comments.

"I can, i just need to get some 100gp pearls before i can cast the spell"

"Sounds like it might be best to head for Daggerford either way, then," Tyrus replies.

“Though I would prefer to head straight to the shield, we need to get rid of some of this loot.  I have a feeling that traveling through the Star Mountains won’t be so easy.  Daggerford it is.”  Ian gathers everything into the cart and starts down the road with his friends.

"To Daggerford, then. It might be a good idea for me to get a nice diamond or two," Conalt adds.

The road to Daggerford is free of traffic with only occasional signs from the Orcs that had taken possession of the bridge.  As you approach the town, you can see what remains of its protective walls and the gate that still remains closed to those who would normally come and go.  Up top of the wall a few scrawny archers post up.

"This looks hospitable

“We bring you no harm.  Please open the gates so we can enter.  We are tired and in need of rest after clearing your bridge of Orcs.”  Ian says with all weapons stowed.

We never asked the Commander what his name was, did we?

Arafiel mutters wasnt it something Silvermane 

“We were with commander Silvermane from Waterdeep.  We fought together to clear the bridge.  We only want a place to rest before we move on.”

A very scraggly archer takes his aim away from your group and says, “never really liked that guy but they have kept us safe a few times.  It has been hard for this town and only the tough have remained.  “. He speaks to someone below and the gate swings open.  “We don’t have much but please come in and rest.”

"He is an ass, but he fights well. He did not flee from battle, even when it looked its most dire," Tyrus says, bowing and entering the town.

"Could you direct me to your seediest inn?" he asks the guards.

As you pass through the gate, you see a shell of a town that once was great.  All appear to be starving and most carry some injuries.  There are no young people or women anywhere.  Along the tops of the walls are stacks of arrows and javelins .  The guard points out a stable for the animals and the only thing that could pass for an inn.  He says with a sad voice “we have little left after the Orc seige.  Do you know if the Waterdeep troops are coming with supplies?”
