The broth is really good, with multiple ingredients like potatoes and the like. As you walk into the kitchen, the kobold chef notices you, and immediately backs himself into a corner of the kitchen in fear. He stares at you with only a wooden spoon in hand, paralyzed in terror as you calmly sipped the soup.
Finnian looks at the Kobold and and turns to Vaelin and says “You know you could asked to try the soup first now the poor guy is scared sorry for the intrusion we got got lost and wandered in here by accident.”
Yutari looks as the two go into the room. She shrugs and follows them. She spots Vaelin's bowl of broth then looks to the kobold. She approaches the kobold, "Apologies for scaring you, we're just a bit too hungry. Skipped the morning meal, we did. Anyway, can you give us for a moment of your time? We just need directions to where they took the most recent prisoner. A human, looks a bit scruffy and possibly a bit dirty as well. We're to take him to another warehouse."
The kobold looks between you three as you all talk in order. He eventually points to the door next to him with a shaky arm, stammering what seems to be a mixture of 3 sentences at once, seemingly combined of things like "it's no problem" and "thank you" and "over there"
As you head out the door, you enter a narrow hallway that stretches to the right for 15 feet until it reaches a door. Infront of you is a door with an obvious lock. To the right, at the end of the hallway, is another door, which appears unlocked. This hallway looks better maintained then the basement and main room you've been in.
Finnian kneels down to the kobold and says “We won’t hurt you we just want to know it anyone who has a key to open the lock if you tell me I’ll give you a reward but only if you tell me.” Finnian says. (Do I need to roll for a persuasion check DM?)
Depends if you will give him a reward, if you are lying to the kobold, then it would be deception. I'm assuming that you are telling the truth, so yes, persuasion.
I think it was 7 but I went back because I accidentally typed something else and it changed on me. I’ll keep the lower number if you want. Im very honest with my rolls and I’ll never switch them to benefit me even if it’s bad
Well, I thank you for being honest. The kobold stutters. "Uh-uh- well, some of them have keys... I don't know which ones..." He speaks in a slightly high pitched voice, and looks unsure of what you plan to do.
“Anyway you must be the cook here mind if I ask what kind of soup you were making or is cooking a hobby of you like to do?” Finnian trying to calm down the Kobold and less nervous
"Hmm...I'll be back in a moment." She says as she realizes that she didn't search the goons from before. She heads back to where they were kept to ask them for keys.
"Cooking... yes, I-I am The cook here. I, knew how to make meals. I found a book which detailed recipies, how to use ingredients, how to warm up food, and I would provide food for.. for... uhh, nevermind. I like cooking, and I'm good at it, well, that's what people tell me. I'm making potato stew, that's all I really make," he looks like he wants to say more, but keeps glancing nervously at the unlocked door at the end of the hall.
Meanwhile, yutari, as you traverse back through the previous room, you see that the goon you tied to the dead thug is struggling to get out, but stops once he sees you. Ask you ask for keys, he responds. "No, I swear! We don't have any sort of keys, the boss let's his higher upside have keys, but not us! He just puts us on guard duty, see?" The other goon, who was nocked out, isn't there. The door to the room where the two goons were is slightly ajar, but it probably was like that when you fought em.
"Ah, that reminds me, I forgot to chain up your friend. But I suppose he isn't much of a friend if he'd leave you behind. Don't worry, I'll be sure to end him if I come across him. You keep on being a good little prisoner." Yutari heads to the room where the two goons were.

Vaelin thanks him for the meal and heads out the door.

"Keys. or can one of you open this lock?" Vaelin asks

The kobold shakes his head no, to signify that he does not have the key. He hasn't calmed down very much.
