Wasting no time, Gimmond calls out, "Athos! Get back!" as he leapt at the giant's knee, throwing his whole body weight behind a spear strike to drive it back and give Athos wiggle room to maneuver away!

Ac: One-Handed Spear vs Hill Giant (AC 13) - To Hit: 16 For: 5 Piercing Damage.
Spending a maneuver for maneuvering attack for another 7 piercing damage, and giving Athos the option to move as a reaction, half speed. 

(OOC: I believe that is exactly 12 damage!)

A little dazed, Athos will get up and move back with whatever's left of his movement.  His temp hp (6) helped keep him a little away from deaths door, but he'll use his lay on hands to heal himself 20 HP as Gimmond charges in for the kill.

 As Athos moves away, the giant falls down, landing right where Athos was a second earlier. Another fight won, and a further reward. You once again come across a chest containing some items. You may each pick one Rare item or two uncommon/common items. (and if all items chosen are consumable, you may take an extra item)

"That was a close one.  Thanks Gimmond." Athos says with a wheeze.  He'll gather himself for a second, then raise his sword to the sky and shout a cheer to the crowd, before limping out.

He'll look at the items in the chest and pick up a Guardian Emblem and a Lantern of Revealing.

"It was no problem, Athos. It was my pleasure to deny that oversized behemoth even a modicum of satisfaction." Gimmond said, seeming a little breathless himself after the fight. Yet, he powered on by joining Athos in raising his spear for the crowd, before then finding his way out to reward station. After only a brief look about he ultimately decided to go with a rather vicious looking spear given the barbs on it. 

Twinkle slaps Gimmond on the back, congratulating him on the final blow. "Well fought everyone!"

The monk retrieves what looks like a simple roll of bandages from the chest. Yet upon closer inspection, these were made of exceedingly rare and fine material and decorated with many tiny magical glyphs. The monk uses these to wrap her hands and feet, feeling the power surging, channeling it to an even sharper edge.

You meet up to discuss what you have heard, and between you all are able to deduce that you are up against beasts next. And it sounds like the arena is going to be a bit different. And the workers are getting towels ready.

"It may just me being a touch paranoid, but I have distinct feeling that we will be doing a fair amount of swimming for the next one." Gimmond conveyed, then heavily sighed and grumbled underbreath. "Don't s'pose either of you have an, uh, something to aid with that?"

Twinkle rubs her chin. "I haven't yet learned the art of moving across water. I'll probably be able to jump a fair distance though, thanks to the ring I found earlier. If one of you falls in, the only thing I can really do to help is perhaps throw you a rope."

"I also can't do anything . .. but if that's the case i will try to help you get out of water with the best of my skill. Let's do it."

"It's going to be tricky if you're right, Gimmond.  I don't have much than can help, but I'll try to keep up." Athos stops, deep in thought.

"I was afraid of that." Gimmond sighs and rubs his forehead. "And here I thought preparing for flying foes was the better course of action. Hmph! Well, unless we luck out on finding a druid or, uh, cleric that venerates the sea, we'll just have to muddle through. It'll be exhausting, but I can swim well enough in this armor in pinch. But any fighting we do is one we must aim to end swiftly and decisively."

(Apologies. Just getting a map sorted for this arena and it took a bit longer than I wanted. Should start tomorrow, but in the meantime, I suggest you all read the underwater combat rules for 2024 if you haven't already and decide if you are buying anything extra or changing spells)
