Okay you hunker down for a bit to plan your move. I'm going to assume you all took a minute to introduce yourselves. Ashlee says "alright, Chandra you're gonna follow us invisible style. Ixalin, do you think you can make yourself look like that guy we just met? Can we fit the Goblin in a backpack or something? And what are we doing with Gairlik?"
"The boat is heading across the sea to the village of Cairn. I deliver the goods there, collect payment. Sometimes pick up different goods and bring them back here. The whole trip usually takes about 3 days. Now I've never been wanted for murder before so I'm no expert on such matters, but do you think this will all blow over by then?" He asks very earnestly.
“Three days is not a long time... Perhaps we should take this one step at a time. Getting to the boat and safely setting sail is step one, however, by now I’m guessing the whole city will be crawling with Town Guards. How long will it take us to get to the ship and when does it set sail?”
As the two of you are covering up the window with boards, you notice a few townspeople beginning to come out into the streets as the sun continues to rise. But what you don't see are any guards. Some time has past since you encountered the two in the alley and since then none have passed by, even when the man was yelling for guards earlier. It seems to be just a normal quiet morning outside.
Gairlik comes back inside after boarding up the window from the outside. As the two others rest to recover their energies, he says. "So, it seems pretty quiet out there." He scratches his temple with a thick finger. "Almost as if there's not a pile of bodies back at the jail. You'd think that this town would be buzzing with guards."
“That is odd. Who do you suppose that Tiefling was? You don’t suppose he could have any influence on the bureaucracy around here? Perhaps there was enough carnage that they’re having a hard time mustering replacement guards. We should probably get going.” (Assuming an hour has passed now.)
Ashlee agrees, "Yes let's leave now. I think with all of our magic in place we should be able to just walk through the streets. That will save time on our way to the docks. When we get there I'll make introductions as if you're from the guild and with me. We shouldnt have much trouble. We can find a place to stay out of view once we get settled. I assume your spells won't last the whole trip"
So since you're walking through the streets just trying to look chill and not sneaking through the alleys , I'm going to take Tonk's bad stealth roll to mean he is the only one of you sneaking, making him look obviously suspicious.
But the dice tell me that nobody really pays any attention to the small group of you.
The only thing that happens is you get stopped by a long slow funeral procession that is heading down one of the wider streets you need to cross. There's about 100 people all dressed in black slowly following a covered wagon down the street.
The townspeople who were already on the street have moved to the side and stand quietly letting the procession pass. Lady Chandra approaches a small group of them and ask's "Who died?"
A older woman turns and whispers "Andrew Stormrunner"
Ashlee leans in when he hears this, and whispers back " Really? What happened?"
The old lady looks around to see who's within earshot and leans in closer to your group, "I heard somebody killed him"

"You don't think they'll need an extra hand keeping an eye on things like I suggested?"
“I most certainly can.”

"So once we get to the boat, then what? And also, where is this boat going?"

Tonk and Gairlik roll perception checks
Perception -> 12
Perception 2

"Okay then. Let's get a move on." Gairlik gives himself a pat down to make sure he has everything.
"Tonk move quiet"
Stealth -> 14
So since you're walking through the streets just trying to look chill and not sneaking through the alleys , I'm going to take Tonk's bad stealth roll to mean he is the only one of you sneaking, making him look obviously suspicious.

If there any other people NOT in the procession, I approach one of them and say, "Who died?"
