Gairlik, upon hearing Ixalin mention that their goblin companion is likely up to no good again, shakes his head and just looks up to the sky. "Helm, give the me strength..." At that moment he sees the man tumble inexplicably to the ground spilling his fruit. He hops down from the crate to assist the man to his feet, then helps collecting the apples and placing them back in the basket. "Gotta be careful there, buddy.... Here ya go." As the dwarf pats the man on back to usher him along, he grabs one of the apples and gives him a smile and a nod. He then turns his attention back to the missing goblin.
I imagine Tonk had time to slip away as Gairlik was helping the man.
Oh yeah, he wants that gold pocket watch. Especially if Gairlik paid him no mind when he got down to help the guy with his apples. Paying no mind to Tonk means Tonk thinks whatever he is doing is OK and can keep doing it.
Okay 2 different things are going to happen at the same time.
Tonk - you weave your way through the crowd with easy you see the dwarf man stop and talk to someone for a moment. He is near enough to the edge of the pier that you could push him. Roll a SoH check to grab the pocket watch, and a Strength check to push him in the water.
Chandra and Ixalin, you are watching Gairlick help the man pick up his apples, a few other people have stopped to help as well. One of these people, a human man, pauses when he his eyes land on Ixalin. "Oh hey Kol!" he waves and walks up to Ixalin. "What are you doing down by the docks? Oo, nice orb!" He says with a smile.
Tonk - you run up to the dwarf, give his watch chain a quick yank and it comes unclipped from his coat with ease. You use your forward momentum to throw your weight into him and give him a hard shove. He's a sturdy fellow though and it feels like running into a Tree trunk. He looks down and sees his watch floating in the air for a moment before a small goblin man materializes in the space beside him, holding the watch.
No matter where you go, people are afraid of you due to your reputation. When you are in a civilized settlement, you can get away with minor criminal offenses, such as refusing to pay for food at a tavern or breaking down doors at a local shop, since most people will not report your activity to the authorities.
*** How much worse is actual theft vs breaking down a shop door? ;) Though yes, I know that protects me from law enforcement not civilians!
Tonk - The man the dwarf was talking to sees what happens in front of him and quickly makes himself scarce. The Dwarf man looks at you and smiles, and says in a deep voice. "Hello there little fellow, that my watch you've got there?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: How far off is Tonk from the rest of the group? It doesn't sound like there is much of a commotion - yet, and Gairlik is probably watching in the other direction where the man with the apples is walking. Also, I imagine Chandra would have felt that the spell is down..?
He lets out a hearty laugh, "Ha Ha! You're quite the character friend, and I didn't even feel you swipe it, fast fingers too. Ha Ha ha.." He pats you on the shoulder a little roughly but not painful "Keep the watch kid, that's not even one of my nice ones. And hey, if you ever are in need of a little walking around money, come on by my shop, 'Brok's Stop and Shop', I'm Brok. I'm always in need of friends in the city with talents like yours." And he pats you on the head and head back to whatever business he was doing.
Gairlick - you dont know which direction Tonk went, and he hasnt caused enough of a commotion for you to hear him. If you got up on something high you could look around, but as far as you know he's still invisible, its only been a minute or so
Chandra, by the time the apples are all cleaned up you feel the Invisibility spell end
Ixalin snaps back to the present. “Oh, hey bud. With the recent death in the guild, a few of the duties have been mixed up. Business as usual for you today?”
"Yeah, nothing new with me. It was too bad about Andrew, I met him once or twice, good guy. I hear Kar is taking it pretty hard though, he found the body, you know" The man slides his finger across his neck. "Some ****er slit his throat, that's what i heard anyway."
Gairlik has forgotten about the goblin for a moment as this man has approached his disguised companion. He backs his way up towards Ixalin to listen in on the conversation, as he half-heartedly scans the docks for Tonk.
"I don't think they know what happened yet, but I hear the Commander of the Guard is handling the investigation himself, cause it's such a big deal." he says that as he sticks out his hand to Gairlick "Hi, nice to meet you. Cairn is a nice place, went there a few years ago." He sees the sailor standing close by, "You heading that way too?"

Tonk recoils every time he touches him. "What you want Tonk to watch?" He also snarls when the dwarf calls him kid.

Oh, hey have you met my friend Gairlik? He’s looking to trade work for passage to Cairn. Security work, right Gairlik?”
"I don't think they know what happened yet, but I hear the Commander of the Guard is handling the investigation himself, cause it's such a big deal." he says that as he sticks out his hand to Gairlick "Hi, nice to meet you. "Planning on it, yeah." says the sailor.
