Kel coming from the south gate would feel a sense of hope as he entered into the gates, he would take a deep whiff of the air before strapping the lute to his back and starting to make his way to the market, he was rather hungry and wondered if he could possibly buy some bread, he could hear the market commotion in the distance and would make his way towards it.
The market is bustling and the vendors hawking their wares. Kel sees several large wagons pass through the market street, heavily laden. The smell of freshly baked bread and grilled meats on a stick tickle his nose as he turns onto the main road. Baldur’s Gate is a much larger city, but this feels more the right size. A lot of the people here are big, burly humans you heard called Northmen. They seem a very hardy bunch. You make your way over to booth selling bread she is baking right there in a special brick oven. She has flat breads, some regular loaves and also some sweet breads with cinnamon.
The dwarvish woman sees you and says, “ what can i get fer ya hun?”
My stomach would growl as I placed one hand around it, I would stutter trying to speak common due to having to speak draconic for so long while working for the dragonborn, I would take a moment to recenter myself before asking for one of the loaves of bread, I would hold up my only coin and place it on the counter, hopping it was enough to cover its cost.
The kind woman hands you a loaf of bread, fresh from the oven and two blueberry muffins as bonus. The cost for the bread was 2 cp so she hands you back 7 silver coins and 10 coppers. She seems to understand that you are unsure of the money system so she lays out the 10 copper pieces and tells you those 10 equal one of the silver ones, and ten silvers equal 1 gold thAt you paid with. She also mentions a few booths down is a man named Armand an dthat he has the least expensive and most delicious meat skewers in the market.
I would cheerfully give a small bow to the woman and thank her for all her help, I would pocket the money and the food, I would start munching on a blueberry muffin while walking over to the delcious meat smell.
Mr Armand greets you warmly, “ Ahh a minstrel in the market. I have several different meats today. For 2 copper bits, i have the chicken skewers, delicious and popular choice. Simply seasoned and grilled perfectly. For 1 silver coin such as you have there you can get the beef skewer. Marinated overnight in a special blend of herbs and spices. My wife’s family secret, and my best seller and it never lasts noon. The third choice i have today is a rare and special treat. Grilled mountain eel skewers. These are young caught and fresh from the mountains. Those are 3 silver”
As you talk with Armand and eye the delicious meat skewers, you catch a glimpse of gnome moving through the crowd. He is wearing a brilliant red cloak, with a high, stiff collar and on his shoulder sits a large vulture. Seems to you, almost as big as the gnomish gentleman himself. You are amazed at the variety of folks wandering the streets of Luskan.
I would pay for two beef skewers and would hand the man 2 silver coins, this was going to be a great meal, As i finished paying in noticed the gnome in greater detail, being a kobold it was normal to be looking up most of the time, this gnome was short and he could look at their entire appearance, the red contrasted with the market environment snd it looked rather nice, he wondered if they where perhaps a wizard or a noble.
Kel enjoys his delicious meal as he walks through the market noticing all the interesting people and places. He see different bridges crossing over the wide river Mirar which flows into the sea. The other side of the river is definitely the wealthy side, but this side seems pretty great in its own right. As you get further west towards the sea wall you catch sight of the host tower of the Arcane. Situated out on one of the islands confronting the ocean, it dominates the skyline. You have never seen anything approaching it. Like a giant tree made of white marble.
I look at the building while i am at distance, I would try to squint and realized no one was traveling there. I believe that maybe its where the nobility goes to stay, maybe a fancy resort?
I would tuck my lute away and keep walking, I had no set plans except to find somewhere to perform.
After a bit more roaming, getting a lay of the land you make your way to the Cutlass tavern, about a block or so from the sea wall and the docks. This is where most of the folks you talked to suggested as it was cheap to stay, had a rough, yet not too finicky crowd. The perfect kind of place to wet yer teeth in the entertainment business.
The Cutlass Tavern is a slightly dingy, yet comfortable place. The Hostess welcomes you and tells you they dont contract entertainment. But that you are welcome to entertain for tips if you like at your own risk. She tells you the crowds can sometimes be rough, but generally appreciate distractions from the daily routine. She tells you the best spot to set up. She mentions it is still a little early, but the tavern should begin to get busy soon as the ships return to the docks.
He would setup where he was told as he put out a small cloth to collect the tips, it was a small stage near the center of the brewery. He would hold his lute in his hands as he sat on a small stool and wait for the customers to start arriving.
As you sit there, beginning to strum on your lute. You begin to get in tune with the vibe of the place. People of all sorts are beginning to flow in. Loud chatter as they greet each other with words that in other situations would be considered fighting words, but here it is friends greeting friends. Fishermen, dock workers and lots of ruffians of differing pedigree. Ordering ale, whiskey and other concoctions to get the night started. A tall, slender lizardfolk man with abnormal red scales sits not far from you. He keeps a watchful eye on everyone in the crowd as he orders a meal from the barmaid. He clearly knows this place and its fare well as he doesn’t even wait to hear the menu.

I would hold my lute in my arms while i walked over as I tried playing it, I would string up a small tune while walking.
I would arrive at the meat cart and hold up 5 silver coins between my fingers. "What could i buy here with theze?"

I would walk up to the hostess of the establishment as I would ask "do you have any space for an entertainer this night?"
