We seem to have very little healing. Just a bard and ranger who can heal (but I doubt either are planning on being healers). Looks like we go down the offense is the best defence route. Kill before we are killed.
No worries, I've never been one of those DM's that require 'niches' to be filled.
Re: Catching up on the IC. You are certainly welcome to ... but I don't want it to feel like a homework assignment.
Here are the current high points of our little haunted house tale:
The PC's, each for their own reasons, found themselves drawn toward, or made aware of a mysterious place: Halvhrest Manor.
They recently arrived in a new land (this was without any intentional travel on their parts, and they found this land is unlike their respective homelands in every regard).
At the doorstep of the manor, they met Laurie and Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove ... whom Cassian (the only native PC, and one of the dropped players) recognized as renowned monster hunters.
The party agreed to help Laurie and Gennifer explore the house.
Laurie and Gennifer shared a bit of what they know about the house [Here and here].
I'm saving that. It doesn't feel worth it for 4hp (which I will regret if I take somewhere between 8 and 11 damage). But the short rest gives my spell slot back
Encouraging Song. As you finish a Short or Long Rest, you can play a song on a Musical Instrument with which you have proficiency and give Heroic Inspiration to up to 2 allies who hear the song.
So now it's a question of who gets the inspiration. I don't need it myself as I haven't used it yet and humans get one after every long rest. But out of the non-humans
Apologies, gang. In the last few posts I got my twins all mixed up.
I went through and edited the posts ... but I may have missed a reference or two.
So ... if anyone at home is still scratching their heads wondering who-is-who:
The Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins
Laurie, a warrior, speaks in this color. Is rarely seen without her uncle's famous magic longsword, Gossamer.
Gennifer, more of a researcher (among other things), speaks in this color. Is missing an eye and from the scar left behind ... it was taken quite violently.
The sky was simply wrong. The twin moons of his home world were absent.
For the record, Krynn actually has three moons.
Nuitari, the black moon, only reveals herself to evil wizards though ... so the non-wizarding types live their whole lives looking up to see only a pair of moons, one white and one red.
That takes me back. I grew up reading the Dragonlance series. My copy of Dragons of the Autumn Twilight has been read so many times its worn like a centuries old family heirloom.

Have you played the Shadow of the dragon queen campaign? I'm just about at the end of it, playing with my old mates from high school. It's got lots of nice call backs to the books.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
It's cooler than a lightsaber. After the recent combat, it changed into a staff
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)

In the current scene, Cassian has a 5hp pool of hit points that he can allocate via Lay on Hands.
Alaric is the only one injured, so it makes sense that he gets the +5hp as the short rest begins.
Welcome, ZorgAlmighty!
The heroes just started a short rest and I will get Boff introduced during this next IC scene.
No worries. I'm still reading the IC thread to catch up.
I did consider replacing your Paladin with another Paladin or maybe a Cleric, but decided on something with less mechanics.

Hey Zorg, welcome to the party! I play the high strung little gnome Gooterat.

Thanks all. I've read through the thread (skimmed much of the fight) and sounds like a great party.
Not sure yet why Boff is here, but he's certainly not from Ravenloft. Classic dwarf - he's as subtle as a warhammer and about as sharp as one too.

This conversation counts as a short rest as well. If you'd like to spend a hit die to recover hit points, you may.

Every PC began with Heroic Inspiration marked. Only Alaric used it (here).
As of this short rest, the only PC without Heroic Inspiration marked is Alaric.
Oh yes. I forgot I used it.... Guess I inspire myself only.
Everyone else can be inspired for no mechanical benefit. And maybe one of the npcs can be inspired?

Unfortunately gang, I have removed Shinrei's player from the game.
I feel continuing with four players is adaquate and do not plan on opening the tale again for a re-recruitment.
[Boff will get introduced soon! Was just waiting until the séance began.]

Same (except I never owned the books in the 80s)

@eggs_n_toast, I have added Silver Spark to Rats' character sheet.
I haven't played that one, thanks for the recommendation!
