Someone had posted earlier about being a new DM and running Lost Mine of Phandelver. I commented on the post, thinking I was offering helpful advice. It looks like the post has since been deleted, and I just wanted to say: if I came across as overwhelming or discouraging in any way, that was never my intention.
To the OP: I think it’s awesome that you were stepping up to DM, and I fully support you giving it another shot. Please don’t be discouraged! I’d love to see you make another recruitment post, and I truly hope your game gets off the ground.
For context—because I’m sure some might wonder—I’ll clarify: The original post was a recruitment thread for Lost Mine of Phandelver, looking for three players and featuring an intro scene. My comment mentioned that most recruitment posts usually include a bit more info, like allowed sources, which rule set (2014 vs 2024), ability score method (rolled, point buy, etc.), starting level, equipment rules, any homebrew, and so on.
It was meant to be constructive, not critical. We all start somewhere, and I really admire anyone willing to take on the role of DM for the first time.
