"That's odd," says Passoveloce, "I wonder what could have brought these disparate peoples together here, it seems like it must have been a lemming of an idea." He looks more closely at the bodies to see if he can determine method and time of their demise. He then looks more closely at the "Rubies" from behind Lucas' kneecaps to see if he can determine what it is about them that is not quite right.

"Well, assuming they weren't captured and brought here against their will, then could just as well be they were some rather unlucky adventures themselves. Though what would bring the ding bats here of all places I... couldn't even begin to hazard to guess beyond them finding out about the same thing we're after some years prior."Lucas mused quietly yet loudly enough at least for the party nearby to overhear him. He then regards the door nearby, considering it for a moment, but then following one last glance towards the rubies, opted to backtrack towards the center of the foyer and struck a thoughtful pose.
... Or at least pretend to be pondering while waiting for the others to examine and explore the other branching paths from the chamber.

Passoveloce is unable to determine either the exact method or time of demise. All he can ascertain is that given the skeletal nature it was obviously some time ago. He is also unable to determine exactly how the rubies are trapped but he concurs with Lucas’ assessment that are trapped in some way and therefore best - unfortunately - left alone.
As Lucas moves to the double iron door, Passoveloce looks back to the party and signals to them it is all clear.
Corwyn - sword burning brightly - leads the rest of the party across towards the door, When they have travelled about 15 feet into the room Paul mutters quietly “two characters have just come out of an alcove in the western wall and are following us!”
”Let’s keep going and observe them, with someone stealthy falling in behind them if possible,” murmurs Corwyn as he focuses on continuing to move towards the door.

It is not possible for somebody in the party to get behind the two individuals following them. Also when the party gets to the two iron doors they realise they are locked. So …?
If by some miracle Passoveloce hadn't taken advantage of some trick or magic to comply with Corwyn's request, then by the time they reached the iron door Lucas whispered to the party while pretending not to notice the followers. "Not one fer bloodshed, but best we neutralize'm quick and ask questions of any survivors after." He said. But even as the words left his mouth, so too had the Weave seemed to head them. For about thirty or so feet behind the party did the air grow thick with the scent of lavender. At least that is the scent the groups would be followers would pick up on as Lucas' magic subtly wormed its way into their mind, threatening to suppress hostile thoughts.
-Spending 1 sorcery point to subtle cast Calm Emotions at a point 30ft back the way the group came/where Paul had mentioned the followers came from. (OOC: Not.. sure how better to describe that without a map, but hopefully the above make sense. Eitehr way, he's using Subtle Metamagic to not give away any spellcasting and catch them off guard. To resist, it would be a DC 15 Charisma save or any hostile feelings the duo might have become suppressed for 1 minute.)

Passoveloce, after hearing Corwyn's words, assesses the situation quickly. If the room is sufficiently dark he will use Lucas to obscure himself from prying eyes and shadow step into the western alcove from whence the two figures following us have appeared (assuming it is within 60'). If there is sufficient shadow or object to hide behind (where he shadow stepped to), he will then do so. Hide DC15): 23
If this is not feasible, he will simply use Lucas to hide behind (using the above roll), and prepare for what comes next.
Knowing there is another dead party in the room, he is not keen on trying to quickly unlock doors before giving a thorough check for traps.

Turning around from the locked door, Corwyn lifts his burning blade and looks back into the room, trying to attract attention towards himself and away from any stealthy ones, saying, “A stout locked door and lifeless bodies of the fallen—this is starting to feel like a trap, or an AMBUSH!.”
As the two characters following the party get within 60 feet, Corwyn and Lucas can see that one is a hobgoblin whilst the other is dwarvish - probably duegar. Lucas casts his spell as Corwyn prepares for combat. Meanwhile Passoveloce has disappeared while Paul leans on his axe idly scratching Babe between the horns. Toruun is tinkering with the door when one the hobgoblin calls out something in languages that nobody understands. Corwyn and anybody else that speaks elvish think they hear the word ‘key’ in whatever it is that the hobgoblin says. Neither the hobgoblin or the duegar respond to Corwyn’s statement. Then there is a click as Toruun managers to open the doors.
