I have one vacancy from Curse of Strahd. We lost a ranger. At the moment the team is at Vallaki doing oddjobs and getting involved in an unexplained death at the local Vistani camp.
Replacement character is required at level 4. Milestone levelling. RPG heavy
We are looking for a rogue, who like the rest of the party are affiliated with the Temple of Mask. Level 3. The party has just entered the Delphi mansion in Reach for the Stars. You may choose one uncommon and one rare magical item. Milestone levelling. RPG heavy.
I would like to join the: Mask and the Keys from the Golden vault

I did a roll of attributes, then increased the Rouge to 3rd level.
Back story: Parents died in a mining accident, as an orphan was taken in by a retired thief. They taught me how to be a a great thief, but I was not a front man. Being an orphan I am not used to "nice" things. I steal for the basics and the fun of succeeding. I am in the shadows and never stand out or try to lead. I am happy following the flow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cool! I'll consider the ranger option, but I'm not sure I can commit quite yet. Discount this if there's someone else considering it.
And: quick question -- how many posts/week do you expect from people? I can give you anywhere from 5-10 posts a day on weekdays, but weekends I'm near useless.
Final question (sorry, I'm that sort of guy) -- what do you mean by "RPG" heavy? Do you mean roleplay-centered?
Anyway -- my submission (I've never played CoS before, but I've heard it's great):
A professional goofball, writer, and frisbee player. Probably the best thing to happen to you since you woke up this morning. DM: Liquid Swords - A Historical Wuxia Campaign, In the Depths - A Fantasy Homebrew Flying Pig Cultist of the Cult of Flying Pigs (don't ask) You're amazing, don't you know that? All of you. Extended sig here, check it out!
If approved, how would I join the current PCs? Would I be in the house (but why?) Would I be on the grounds and seeing the levitation etc.? Would I be casing the house to steal something (like crystals or something else?) Of course how I am inserted, does beg a big why.
PS I can't actually see the pictures you post, definitely a PC issue on my end. I can't access https://i.postimg.cc
Just one post a day, more if there is combat and you are around. The weekend is often slow, so I wouldn't worry about it.
RPG heavy means that you have the chance to get to know one and other and the NPCs. Combat happens but does not drive the story.
Got you. I'm in high school, so I might have extended periods of sporadic/no posting, but I'll try to let you know. Now -- same question as @Character77006. Should I pretend like I've been with the party all along, or will I be introduced into the story?

Mask and the Keys from the Golden Vault, you will be the sole survivor of a team that had already tried to investigate the house, Elra the Clerics team. You will be found tied up in a room in the Mansion.
Curse of Strahd you'll be a visitor who came through the mists with the local Vistani. You will meet the team when they join Ellis and the others for dinner.

Any intel/information I would know?
Or do I say I was hit from behind and know nothing?
I'd be interested in trying to get back into the swing of things again.
Interested in both campaigns, or either or. I've never played Curse of Strahd, but it's been on the bucket list. I have played a part of a Golden Vault as a Monk quite some time ago now, but enjoy the setting.
I have a couple questions as I started to build characters:
1. 2014 or 2024 content? 2. Any content not allowed? 3. For Curse of Strahd are you looking to replace ranger for ranger as well? If so, Gloomstalker okay? 4. Are stats either or (roll or point buy/standard array)? Or if you roll and it's less than point buy, player can go point buy?
2024 but as far as classes go you can use one from either.
I have never thought of content not allowed, apart from sex and nudity, if you want to play that out with another player take it to a PM between the two of you. No under 18s.
You can replace our ranger with another one, or choose your own class. Fights were working well with a ranger in the mix.
You can roll stats on the forum, with real dice at home, point buy or standard array, I'm easy that way, don't forget to reroll 1s.
This is Brinshander Johansson an Archeologist and Anthropologist turned criminal after a legal battle over an excavation.
She was indoctrinated by the followers of mask a few years ago and was selected for the original group because of her background in relic hunting (Based loosely on Indiana Jones)
If it's alright I'd like to save selecting equipment until I find out if I'm selected
I'd like to submit a character for the Curse of Strahd campaign.
Seraphine Vale is a Lantern Warden—a ranger devoted to the Raven Queen, goddess of death, fate, and memory. Her sacred duty is to walk the border between life and death, ensuring that the souls of the departed find their way to the Shadowfell rather than lingering in the mortal realm.
She once patrolled the gray mists of Faerûn’s borderlands—battlefields, haunted ruins, and plague-struck villages—helping lost spirits find peace. Her lantern burned with the Queen’s argent flame, a light that soothed the dead and repelled undeath.
But then came the Mists.
Drawn into them while pursuing a soul that refused to pass on, Seraphine found herself in Barovia—a place where the natural order of death is broken. Her divine connection flickers and fades. Her goddess is silent. The dead do not rest.
At first, she believes she’s been abandoned. But as she learns of Strahd von Zarovich, she begins to understand—or believes she does. Surely this tormented land and its cursed lord are the reason she was sent here. Surely her purpose is to guide Strahd’s soul to rest, and in doing so, restore her goddess’s grace.
I'll do point buy for stats and will update this post with the actual character.
Ah, shoot. Sorry, @JudyMac, I’ll be bowing out. Stuff has caught up to me :/

((With rolls like this, gotta try something unusual ... like a monk 2 / warlock 2 in Barovia))
What better than a monk from the temple of Shaundakul to go travel the wide world. Afterall, Shaundakul was the lesser deity of travel, exploration, and portals. And who better a monk than the young, attractive, and energetic Torabora, who could win converts with his faith. Particularly since Torabora sought extra oomph in his efforts, power that Shaundakul gave to the youngster to further his mission.
Upon finding himself in Barovia, Torabora decided that his patron had deliberately set him on this most challenging road, that is in a place where even gods do not normally walk. However, in his weaker moments, Torabora wonders if Shaundakul sent him to Barovia to eliminate him. Well, Torabora decided grimly if that was the case, then Shaundakul would have to be disappointed.
For the Curse Of Strahd campaign. I look forward to the chance to play! I'm also more than happy to switch exactly who his patron is, if that would work better for the setting.
As a child, Ozus traveled with his parents and their theater troupe. They traveled from town to town, playing for whoever would listen. As he got older, Ozus began to notice the looks people would give his family. Most merely seemed curious, as they had never seen a Tiefling before, but there were others. Hushed whispers and nervous eyes, parents pulling their children away just a bit too quickly, and a palpable sense of distrust followed them in nearly every town, with varying degrees of frequency. Eventually, he grew used to such things, distracting himself with his music, and learning how to diffuse many tense situations. Of course, word were not always enough, so he learned to take a punch as well, refusing to meet violence with violence.
Eventually, his parents passed, and deciding it was time to strike out on his own, he bid the remaining troupe members farewell, and simply remained in town after they had left. it was there he met Jewel, a town guard determined to make her way up the ranks, with steely courage tempered only by her kindness. In her, Ozus found, for the first time, a human who truly treated him as an equal. Overtime, the pair fell in love, and managed to purchase a home together, where they raised their daughter, Gem, for five years.
Unfortunately it was not meant to last. One day, upon his return home from a day of earning what coin he could playing in the local tavern, Ozus found his home, everything he had worked for, going up in flames. He rushed in, desperate to save his family. He got to them in time, but the flames only accelerated their growth, trapping all three inside. In one final act of desperation, Ozus attempted to shield his family with his very body, blinding pain scorching through every nerve. By the time the fire died down, the flames had left his back and shoulders scared, but had not touched his wife and daughter. Pulling away, Ozus realized that though they had not burned, the smoke had simply been too much for them. they had died, cradled in his arms.
Ozus let out a cry, a mix of rage, pain, and hopelessness flooding his soul. The emotions of that moment were so potent, that something took notice. A demon appeared in the ashes, claiming to be a representative of Levistus, Lord of the Fifth. Ozus was told that this was no accident, but something that had been done to him, by members of a cult. He was offered the power to take his vengeance, but in return, he would lose the next year of his memories, and when Levistus called upon him to act, he would do so without question. Filled with an anger he had never known before, the tiefling accepted. The next thing he knew, he woke up in an unfamiliar town, with no idea what had transpired in the last year. He does not know what he may have done in that time, but he can sense the blood on his hands, and feel the weight of his soul. He does not know why his patron has sent him to Barovia, but for the moment, doesnt care. His only concern is tracking down any trace of the cult that took everything from him. One question hangs over his every action, day in and day out. Will he ever find the vengence he seeks? And if he does... what will that mean for his soul?
His once handsome body now marred by burns, Ozus chooses to leave his costume from his time in the troupe on, hiding his true appearance. Long sleeves cover the worst of his burns. Knee high boots and long white gloves ensure not an inch of skin is seen. And his erie, pale mask covers his face. He does not intend to repeat the mistake of making his demonic heritage public knowledge again, and the mask keeps his reactions and expressions hidden behind a joyless, porcelain smile. But so deeply does his loss cling to him, that he can never completely hide from the marks it left on his soul. The smell of smoke and ash seem to follow him, and his viol, though in perfect working condition, is a deep, charred black, as though it had been snatched from an inferno mere moments ago
Personality: Playing at being something he's not is second nature to this former musician. He slides into conversations with ease, his devil may care tone hiding the voice of a man broken beyond his limits. He can just as easily lie through his teeth as he can flatter, and is always ready with a sarcastic remark, even as he slides a blade into someone's heart. He is an efficient killer, though does his best to avoid unnecessary cruelty. This facade of control only slips when he is overwhelmed by anger, or fear, or when he believes himself to be alone. Late at night, or early in the morning, he will pull out a half burned book of children's poetry, silently reading the few undamaged pages to himself.
I have had a player disappear from the forum and no posts or PM from him. I have no option but to replace him in my games.
