The foul cloud clung to them, seeping into lungs and skin alike. Alaric and Gooterat coughed violently as the poison gnawed at their strength. Boff took the brunt of it ... though his dwarven resilience dulled the worst of it.
Rallying, the three struck back in unison. Alaric's pact-forged longsword cleaved into decaying flesh, Boff's handaxe bit deep with a crunch of bone, and Gooterat's fiery sorcery burst seared what remained of its vile body.
The zombie wavered on its feet, rotted sinew barely holding it upright.
With a sudden lurch, it retaliated. One diseased fist swung at Alaric, who twisted aside just in time.
The other smashed into Boff’s chest with brutal force. The dwarf staggered and crumpled, unconscious, to the floorboards!

"No!!!!!" Gooterat screams as Boff falls to the insidious necrotic power of the zombie. Where fear failed, rage welled up and spilled out in sparks of arcane energy. Holding his hands apart Gooterat felt the lightening energy pulse in his fingers, lashing out at the zombie. The lightening struck the zombie a glancing blow, but created the sustained arc none the less.

Alaric has no healing so he decides a great offence is the way to help Boff best. He takes another great swing at the zombie, hitting the sinew holding it together (crit) for another 20 radiant damage.
As the zombie falls to Alerics wicked blade. Gootera's wide eyes turn to Boff, deep concern on his face. He danced impatiently from foot to foot, giving the noxious cloud time to dissipate before rushing to Boff's side. He quickly checks for breathing and to see if he can tell if he is stable.

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
Gooterat's mind raced. He had no form of training in the healing arts, but he wasn't about to watch his friend die for lack of trying. His thoughts flashed from memories to ideas to panic and back around again. For some reason he kept coming back to a story he once heard about a necro-alchemist who discovered a way to harness lightening to reanimated the dead. While he certainly didn't want to make another zombie, he wondered if a smaller bit of lightening energy could bring back the not-quite-dead-yet sort of patient.
With nothing else in mind to try, their paladin sitting in a puddle of his own drool downstairs, their ranger with some healing magic literally eaten by a fireplace with gross arms, and no clerics scheduled to drop by, Gooterat called a low dose of his lightening magic to his slender hands. He stretched his fingers out and pulled his hands apart, a dancing web of softly crackling lightening formed between his hands. Placing his hands on Boff's chest he focused and released a very low pulse of energy into his friend, hoping to jump-start the dwarf's heart.

This level is dark save for the light sources the heroes have.
Light sources — Gooterat; torch (20' radius bright, then another 20' radius dim) The area by Alaric, Boff and the Sick Zombie is now brightly lit.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
^^ That attack will drop the zombie to 0hp remaining. And due to the damage source being radiant, the zombie's Undead Fortitude does not apply.

Boff is making Death Saving Throws. He is not stable.
