Crisaryn notes the brightly colored wagon as they pass by the stockyard. She can't help but wonder what it might be and how it would have ended up in that place. They are already past when she muses to the others, "Has anyone ever heard of Rictavio's Carnival of Wonders?"she asks. "Seems interesting."
The group proceeded on towards the inn and as they were greeted Alerya had already explained their need for stables. She took a moment to just examine the exterior of the place. It seemed nice enough for their night's rest at least. "We will need a meal as well. Hopefully something quick. And we'll be going first thing in the morning. Do you offer any breakfast before dawn?" she asks Danika.
Are you here to join Rictavio at the festival? It starts in 2 days. I'll hold your rooms until the day after. Lodging for you and your horses, and two meals a day with wine. 5 silver pieces each. I'll have one of the stableboys sleep near your wagon to protect it. Not that the city has any thieves that I know of, but I don't know some of the strangers wandering about these days.
Ismark came forward, I'll pay for the group, it's the least I can do they guarded our travel. He leaned past Illmirth and dropped some gold pieces into Danikas hand. She tucked the coins away into her purse then shook hands with Ismark. Deal! You'll each have your own room, 4 days.
She listened to Crisaryns plea for an early morning rise. If you leave after cock crow for your business, they'll be fresh bread, eggs and cold ham along with oat porridge. Might as well eat the gates will be shut until sunrise. There is a Temple of the Morning Lord here, Father Lucian holds morning and evening services. Peter take the horses into the stable, give them a warm mash.
With that she gestures at the companions and invites them in
Damp cloaks hang from pegs in the entrance portico. The tavern is packed with tables and chairs, with narrow paths meandering between them. A bar stretches along one wall, under a balcony that can be reached by a wooden staircase that hugs the north wall. Another balcony overhangs an entrance to the east. All the windows are fitted with thick shutters and crossbars. Lanterns hanging above the bar and resting on the tables bathe the room in dull orange light and cast shadows upon the walls, most of which are adorned with wolf heads mounted on wooden plaques.
Vaelar stays toward the back of the group of companions as they move into the tavern: His pale eyes survey the inn's patrons, looking to see if anyone pays them particular mind.
"Has anyone fought hags before?" he asks the others as they look for a table.
A dark haired woman sits in a shadowy corner eating beet soup. Which type? I took out a Nighthag once, it was a close thing. You thinking of taking on one?
Overhearing the conversation a half elf, stands up. Here, you have come to join in my tales. I am the Marvelous Rictavio, storyteller and illusionist extrodinaire, tell me would you join the carnival? Have time for a story to cheer the hearts of all here. I once fought a coven, it must have been some gods intervention but I survived to tell the tale.
The young blonde priestess had come along in silence, pondering what the white stag had shared. She was somewhat relieved to reach the town of Vallaki and the relative safety of the inn. They would need to be well rested and prepared if they hoped to defeat a whole coven of hags. She hadn't faced one herself but her mentor had told her much about the evil they did and how grusome it could be to bring them into the light of the Morninglord.
"Um, yes, well in fact we're planning to fight a whole coven tomorrow."Loelei shares with the dark-haired woman, then gving the halfe-lf a surprised expression. There certainly seemed to be no lack of heroes in these lands. "Perhaps you both could share some about what you know about hags, we could probably use all the help we can get."
Illmirth pats Ismark on the shoulder. "Your generosity is most kind and appreciated. It has been an honor to travel with you and make your friendship."
Vaelar seemed to know more of the hags than he, so the bard turned his attention to the half elf. He gave the man a good looking over, a performer sizing up another performer if you will. "Illmirth Vae'Drynn, it pleases me to see another committed to bringing joy into this troubled land. When we are settled in and relieved of the burdon of our gear I should very much like to hear your tale."
