After a minute or so if walking, Bastian realizes the enormity of this chamber. With the crypts and mausoleums dotting it in regular patterns, it is almost an underground city - and perhaps as large. He finds no activity in the areas he goes, and nothing appears to find him, either. However, it would easily take multiple hours to perform reconnaissance on a significant portion of the chamber.
Marrow waves his glowing sword to get Bastian's attention and hopefully bring him back, and then points to the door to the left as the next place worth investigating. Good heavens, he thinks to himself, I can't hear that fellow move at all; he's as silent as a ghost. Then he rebukes himself mentally for even thinking of undead at a time and place like this.
Bastian will come back and declare the immediate area of the mausoleum clear. He will then point to the door, taking a position behind one of the sarcophagi with a clear view to the door.
Casmenos will take a flanking position beside the door, and open it.
The door opens easily in the room. Nothing threatening appears, but the source of the sound is now apparent, and much louder without the muffling of the door. To the west of the room, a mechanism turns slowly, as a small platform lowers behind an iron grate. The platform seems sturdy enough, but the crank has not been greased, apparently in years.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marrow follows Bastian into the room along with the others, holding his sword aloft to get a good view of the area: Perception 9.
He then takes a look at the mechanism; though it seems to be just about working, he tries to think of anything he has seen recently that might assist with its smooth operation. Investigation 23
Hmmm, not much of a tinkerer myself, but let's take a look at this.
I wouldn't count on anything here being safe, exactly, says Marrow. But... maybe. Let's hope, eh? He turns back to inspecting and gently prodding the mechanism.
The mechanism is a simple crank, with teeth marked in the wheels, presumably to lock it in place at specific rotations. Though rusty, it seems perfectly serviceable.
The platform is slightly over 5 feet on a side; one person could fit on it easily. or two people if they squeeze. The crank turns easily, if a bit noisily, and the platform rises.
The scratching sounds a bit different inside the room, but, as Marrow turns the crank, it becomes an actual mechanical squeal -- the scratching was the loose crank, and therefore platform, shifting constantly.
The crank gets slightly more difficult to turn with the weight on it, but not as much as Marrow might expect. Cassyt and Tumal get to the top, at which point Marrow can turn the crank no more. The elevator terminates in the corner of the Banquet Hall you saw at the very outset. The top also contains a crank, by which the platform can be lowered.
If people are coming up as opposed to wandering in the impossibly large chamber, we can hand-wave the two-by-two application of the crank and just assume everybody gets to the banquet hall area.
Assuming we didn't bring Destin's body with us first time we investigated the big room and this room, Marrow will suggest to Casmenos that they go back to retrieve it.
With the whole group at the top, including their fallen comrade, Marrow sighs. Time to report back, I think. He walks across the room (2?) and peers out through the doorway into the next area (1).

Cassyt shrugs. "I'm in history, not maintenance."

"Does this mean we can leave safely?" Tumal asks brightly.

Marrow will attempt to turn the crank and see what happens, and whether he's able to make the platform rise.
(How big is the platform?)
The platform is slightly over 5 feet on a side; one person could fit on it easily. or two people if they squeeze. The crank turns easily, if a bit noisily, and the platform rises.
Casmenos is confused and looks around for the source of the scratching noises that was heard earlier.
The scratching sounds a bit different inside the room, but, as Marrow turns the crank, it becomes an actual mechanical squeal -- the scratching was the loose crank, and therefore platform, shifting constantly.
Tumal turns to Cassyt. "After you, m'lady."
Kelvin will follow after Cassyt.
Coriana - Company of the Grey Chain
Wagner - Dragon Heist: Bards.
DM - The Old Keep
Cassyt hops up on the platform without hesitation.
Tumal climbs aboard when polite to do so.

Hand wave and proceed to the Doomguide? Then a long rest?

Casmenos would know that time is of the essence, so he would agree to go back and get Destin and bring him to the doomguide.
