(OOC: Is it possible for Skritch to take a Short or Long rest asynchronous to the rest of the group if they're intent on doing other things?
If not, Skritch will get involved, specifically with nosing around the chest to see what he can see. In which case, here's a few rolls in case any of them are relevant, pls ignore if not:: Perception: 6 Investigation: 8 Arcana: 4 Religion: 8)
Thannadol is happy to share with them and pleased to gain in return and he plops down to study the spellbook. While the others are chatting or searching he will pour over the book
Dealuri is pleased the Skritch is looking at the chest she has been carrying around and that Thanadol is reading a book, something she has done before but only under duress. She volunteers to sleep first and to take a late watch, so long as someone wakes her up. (Survival 11 for her portion of the watch)
OOC: @Skritch either short or long rest is fine by me.
Skritch (rolling low) you are unable to figure out how to open the chest. It feels locked securely.
Thanadol (with a 20) you are able to decipher large portions of this text which is detailing "ways to break the barriers between worlds." amidst the rituals and symbology described within you note that one page is loose. You pull it free and see a spell known as dimension door scribed upon it in gold ink. This loose page will work as a single use scroll of Dimension Door.
Dealuri (with an 11) your rest passes without incident and you wake for your watch in the early hours.
Several things happen. When the the kobold ceases to be embiggened, the bonds start to fall to the grounds and Vakas shoots his arm out, clamping down on the creature, not ready yet to let it flee back to whatever dastardly lair it calls home. (Dex check : 19) Vakas speaks Draconic, he pulls the thing close and says in Draconic "What were you doing here? Explain yourself, explain this ritual, now! Or I'll gut you like a fish right where you stand... speak!"
He intends to scare the kobold into speaking (intimidation: 8, if he has help, 5), getting as much info from it as he can, then lets it go (unless he hears anything that convinces him to end its life here and now).
Then, after much great pause for effect, he turns and with aplomb, he says to Dealuri, "Please, my dear, let me see your chest." A naughty half smile on his face. After that he is ready to take a long rest, making space for anyone to curl up next to him.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Skritch will hand out his remaining Goodberries, take one himself (what, after all is better than falling asleep with a full gut? he thinks), then will take a v cosy Long Rest, curled up against Sunhill.
Thannadol is very engrosed in this book. When he finally looks up he's interested
To the others he mentions "Seems like a darker book but very interesting and useful still. And I found a very useful page, it will allow me to teleport"
Dealuri takes a long rest and feels so much better. So much so that she decides to try to open the chest even though she knows she is rather inept at this sort of thing (Investigation 6). Assuming it has not blown up yet and that no one else wants to try, she will stash it in her backpack for another day.
She attempts to remember and apply her good manners by thanking their blue wizard hosts, but she has forgotten their names so just hopes they don't turn her into a frog. Flies, ich. She does remember they talked with her about her new talent and that they were super helpful in the Temple battle that should send the demon back to Neifeldome or Snifledome or someplace where it won't bother folks here. Sigh, so much to remember.
It becomes clear that Dealuri is a morning person. When the others wake up, she asks, So what now? Off to the goblin village? Say, does anyone know how to get there? But first, what's for breakfast? And so on, the questions go on and on and on.
Vakas, (with a 19) you snatch up the Kobold as it tries to escape. (With an 8) It spits and snarls but refuses to give answer, you begin to wonder if it even understood you so wild is the look in its eyes. perhaps the magic that stretched its form broke its mind somehow? Seeing there is little sense in holding longer you open the door and toss it out into the night. Watching with satisfaction as it races away through the darkness without a single glance backward.
Dealuri you hand Vakas the chest upon his request, which is locked. (Sleight of Hand DC 12 to open).
A new day dawns and adventure awaits. Rachus and Ember are familiar with the location of the goblin village. "Half a day south east of here." Rachus explains.
The blue wizards prepare a hearty breakfast to send you all on your way. Would the party like to make any preparations before heading out or are we all good to go?
When the others woke Skritch was already up, kitted out and mounted on Sunhill's back, showing off dressage manoeuvres to their hosts. Some would say they were rubbish. Skritch happens to know they are mistaken.
He eats in his saddle, sharing with Sunhill various morsels.
Vakas (with a 19) the chest clicks open and inside you find a horrific mask moulded in the shape of a snarling face with a hooked nose and needle sharp teeth. The mask covers the bottom half of the face leaving the eyes uncovered. You feel the familiar tingle of magical energy emanating from it. (Once identified : The mask of terror causes the eyes of the wearer to glow red giving advantage on intimidation checks. Once per day the wearer may also cast fear on one enemy within eyesight).
With the goblins leading the way the party start out, heading south west toward the goblin settlement. Vakas make a survival roll as you travel through the dim morning light.
Dealuri feels nice and refreshed after the long rest and successful conclusion of eliminating that beastie. She carries her longbow in her hand but is relatively relaxed on the road. The light may be as dim as her thoughts, but Dealuri is in a good enough mood to unexpectedly burst into singing "la-la-la" as she twirls in a circle around her companions.
Vakas (with a 22) the morning is uneventful. It is an easy march to the goblin settlement. You crest the final obsidian ridge, revealing the settlement below.
"Welcome to Grit-Tooth." the female goblin Ember points ahead to where a jagged patchwork of salvaged chitin and rusted scrap-metal slings to the valley floor. There is no war-horn or sudden charge; instead, a haunting silence falls over the camp as the frantic clicking of market-tongues dies away. Dozens of pairs of oversized, luminous amber eyes track your approach, hands resting warily on weighted nets rather than blades. They don’t look like they want to kill you—they look like they’re waiting for you to give them a reason to.
"We will go fetch the matron," Ember says, clutching the hand of Rachus tightly, "We will hurry."
Rachus gives you all a nod as the two of them head off into the village, leaving you standing their under the mistrustful eyes of around fifty goblins.
When arriving to the village, Dealuri will put away her longbow and pull out a deck of cards. She plops down on the ground next to a log and starts to shuffle. If any goblins appear interested, she will pat the ground beside her and say in Common, "Anyone care to play Double Dragons?" She repeats the question in Orc, adding in that language, "The best player I knew was an orc, although he was as likely to break the table as play on it." She figures others can handle the diplomacy much better than she can.
And Skritch will offer Help to Thanadol's persuasion (OOC: if the DM allows) by dolling out delicious Goodberries to anyone who wants one (I should have 10 since it's a new day).
Or, of course, freshly chewed acorn cud for any of the more... discerning villagers...

Thannadol across the course of the evening you may learn up to three level appropriate spells of your choice from the blue wizards.
For the spell book give me an arcana roll as you leaf through its pages.
If nobody grabs for kobold it burst through the door and out into the night. Do any of you have any other business before you take your long rest?
