Also Dasolis you gain the sorcerer initiate feat and I'll get the spell list. If you want to put this on your character maybe make a magic item that gives you the spells.
You can cast light, color spray, blur, whatever the spell that buffs your weapon with radiant damage(not smite), healing touch, and a fw others I haven't decided on.
The focus effect is whenever you consume a spell slot you send a wave of radiance that heals everything in a 10ft radius around you for (spell slot level)d4+ casting modifier health (gain a +1 to spell modifier in bright light. healing is changed to d6 in bright light.
Enjoy your light amulet.

I don’t know what the second one is but I will say it’ll be treated like a bag of holding that is just limited it can fit swords into the bag and they won’t tear it and it has about four feet of depth inside and 5.5 feet of width.
(OOC - And I have questions on the amulet... Sorcerer Initiate would normally give choice of 2 cantrips and 1 1st Level Spell. The 1st Level Spell you get a free cast once per long rest. And I don't think you 'learn' it to cast using a spell slot. I see one cantrip (Light), probably 2 1st Level (Color Spray and Healing Touch?), then 1 2nd Level (Blur). Healing Touch is not a spell... I am guessing that is going to be Cure Wounds since it requires touch. There is also Healing Word which is 60' range.
For the one that adds radiant damage to your weapon, there's a couple maybe that you mean. Divine Favor (1st Level) adds d4 radiant damage to all weapon attacks for 1 minute. Then there is the 2024 version of True Strike which is vastly different than the 2014 version - and my understanding is we are following the 2014 rules. Anyhow, True Strike lets you use your casting ability modifier for the attack roll and you can choose to make the damage radiant - no buff. Although at level 5 it becomes a 1d6 radiant damage buff and more at higher levels.
With all the spells, would the amulet allow you to learn the cantrips and then have one use of each of the other spells it contains? Another option would be to have charges and each spell casts cost a charge - or a number of charges equal to the spell level or something.
Also, some of those spells are not Sorcerer spells. But making a magic item should take care of that.
I guess my recommendation would be to have Light and True Strike as the cantrips. Perhaps Word of Radiance which is 1d6 radiant damage to all targets you choose within 5 ft. Then just add the other spells with either once per long rest or a number of charges to the item.
Only other note is would the special healing be all allies within 10 ft. radius rather than ALL with 10 ft. radius?)
I forgot the name for the spell(my bad) those were spells that you could cast as you level up. I was saying the sorcerer initiate feat as a general and those are additional spells the focus grants Dasolis as she gains the neccesary levels. (essentially dipping into some parts of sorcerer without multiclassing) also I forgot about word of radiance's name, thanks. This was probably one of the more rushed and poorly explained magic items. And yes, all within the radius.
Last thing is yes I know these aren't sorcerer spells but they're light themed and I can't be bothered to deal with all the hassle of creating unique sorcerer spells to do the effects so I just base it off of spells and then you can pretend that they're sorcerer spells (so yes divine favor works but the focus is the source of the "favor").
Sorry yet again for my stupidity in creating magic items. I promise the actual exploration parts(for the first 4-ish layers) are going to be much more fleshed out.
From now on we should probably have questions for magic items in the PM setup or just PM me personally so this campaign doesn't start to slow down too much.(I promise we're getting closer to the fun parts first day is just kinda going to be the boring day of exposition and such)

"I have advantage on dex saving throws what could go wrong?"
Dasolis smiles as she takes the amulet from the merchant. "Thank you, I hope I will enjoy it." She then walks away, hoping to locate the others."Where to next? I still would like to at least take a look at the library."
Noelle having finished her own shopping comes over and says "I want to see the library as well. Once everyone is here let's see if anyone else wants to go."
Everyone I'm so, so sorry. My last post didn't go through and I didn't notice it until later this morning. So I'll just return to what I had described(assuming your group has met back up and went off towards the library)
Everyone, as you walk towards the library, you notice just how long you have been walking just about 6 minutes through navigating the long, winding paths. It only took about 2 minutes to get out of the shopping districts and more commercial or corps owned areas and into areas with more people in the building and less merchant stands proselytizing their wares as the best available. you start to notice that this base isn't just an operation anymore, it's an act of defense for those living here. Widows whose child were lost, siblings mourning the loss of friends and family, and people drawn to helping those searching to explore and learn the abyss. This isn't just about clearing a path through the abyss anymore, it's about protecting those up at the surface from the dangers below, both physical and concept alike. (feel free to tell how your character responds, maybe they aren't quite as affected or are more so)
As you reach the edge of the camp you see up ahead one of the few mountainous formations on the first layer, other than the broken cliffs off in the distance that loom over all in the layer from afar. The path up it is thin and twists up the mountain's sides like a platinum snake slithering it's way up the sides. At the very top you can see the library, with its spire standing up like a radiant beacon of grey stone above the entirety of the base, it was once used as a watch tower in the early development stages of the war but now it mostly remains ceremonial and as residence for the librarians and watchers. It might be a long way up and down, but you have plenty of time, right? Forests are also much more calm at night, at least typically.
Just as you go towards the path leading off to the library you see a figure laying down underneath a directions post in a small indent in the mountain. He has a book over his face while drooling slightly onto one of the many sheets of paper around him. It's ridiculously overpopulated with papers of all kinds: dive reports, fauna and floral documentation, research documents, schematics, and base blueprints for known layers with a habitable environment. There are glasses left askew across his face and his clothes are smudged with ink all over, he also is using his backpack as a makeshift pillow with scrolls and materials spilling out from the sides.

"I have advantage on dex saving throws what could go wrong?"
Seemingly a perfect fit for the gloom in the air, Bjorn trudges foward, chain and weapons clanking, as if merely armor rather than a person. His head will occasionally swivel from side to side, looking at the others, but mostly looking downward. Unless anyone else actively takes the lead, Bjorn walks at the front of the party, at his natural walking speed. As the party encounters the sleeping fellow, Bjorn will stop and stare at him, face hidden by the helmet.
Noelle, seeing the sleeping man, comes up beside Bjorn. "Odd place for a nap." She says to Bjorn. She glances at the papers scattered around "What a mess." She begins picking up the scattered papers so they won't be damaged or lost.
As the group makes their way through the base and towards the library, Dasolis can't help but notice the people. She is curious about what might draw those not directly a part of the operations to linger here. But it is clear that association with those lost is what holds them here. Or the desire to help those dealing with loss. It makes for a bit of a melancholy mood; one that the tiefling is certainly aware of. But it doesn't take her much effort to set those thoughts aside as her interested in the library propels her on.
The person that seems to be sleeping beneath the direction sign does draw her attention. Certainly, Bjorn stopping and staring made this odd situation quite obvious. She steps up next to this dozing figure and kneels down a bit. "Sir? Are you alright? You have chosen a curious spot for your nap?" If that doesn't seem to wake him, she will speak up just a bit more sharply. "Sir!"
The stranger slightly straightens more upright, seemingly talking to himself in a voice you can barely understand. "...notes and crew testimony don't match... undiscovered layer.. distorted reality, writing should be more--" He jolts completely awake at Dasolis's voice raising. "What? Huh? What time is it?" He draws a trinket from his backpack and then puts it down when he sees your faces. "Oh, you're not one of the direwolves staying up in the mountains, or hallucinations. That's nice to wake up to." He yawns and then stands up and you get a better view of what he looks like. Messy black hair sticking in most directions with his glasses still askew on his face with the glint from the sun mostly mostly blocking his green eyes from view, his cheek is smudged with ink and he has a small earring with what looks to be a bolt of lightning spread throughout it.
"Sorry for my rudeness, my name is Damien. I pulled a few all-nighters in a row doing some research on layer connectivity, the tectonic shifting patterns in this first layer, also some of the history of the formation of the ley nodes in the abyss and the ancient demons that seemingly fueled them and looking through the reports and such from the recent expeditions and dives, which annoyingly had many, many more start logs than exit logs or many didn't manage to return with anything to show for it other than their lives. What are you guys doing here? Not many come up to the original library anymore, or I guess the watchtower if you're particularly knowledgeable." As you're talking he is rapidly trying to stack the documents into neat piles before putting them on the ground behind him in semi-organized stacks of paper and parchment roughly 20 centimeters tall.
Dasolis motions over to Noelle who also been gathering up papers. "I think she was trying to help you with those. It is very nice to meet you Damien. Your research sounds fascinating. I'm a bit of a scholar myself. I had to come by the library. Maybe find a book or two to add to my knowledge of this place." She smiles at him, clearly interested in his work. "I imagine layer connectivity would be a good thing to know about for folks like us that are on the dive team."
Damien dusts himself off as he accepts the papers from Noelle. "Thank you, it's not quite completed but I believe one of the founding works being used to figure this out is by a 'Fallon Briarglade' pretty interesting researcher, apparently even Bast owes him a favor. If I remember correctly in the application forms there was another Briarglade surname joining. I think it was something like Nora, or Noelle, or something similar to those names. Getting back to your question the main connecting force between most layers other than physical connections at certain points in the structure of the layers called pulxatics, basically a hole in the weave and space that also connects..." Damien dialogue starts accelerating at a rate so rapid while throwing out so many terms that even the most in tune of you can't catch up to what he's explaining. "Make sense?"
It doesn't really.
"There's also another work by a Thomas Steirling but that one's much more flawed in it's analysis, plus he was also around the time when he released his findings, found insane so it's not really all that great of a study but the key points remain surprisingly sound in reasoning. The abyss is made up of many 'true' layers and interconnection structures that while not technically layers--some more similar to subdimensions or singular structures connecting multiple layers--are counted as so. Most of these layers have sources of magical energy and mana fairly deeply connected with the weave, which may sound familiar to those of you familiar with ley lines. Ley lines have key points that are connected and spread like veins throughout the crust of the overworld, the abyss doesn't. It has the key points minus the connection to the others in the same layer but often these 'nodes' have connections to other layers around which is according to Steirling the reason layers are bound to their locations and in reality." He pauses, finally taking a breath after what was likely 6 minutes straight of explanations and talking.
"That's mostly what I could put together from the works I've found to work with... speaking of that. You guys are heading up towards the library, right? Good. I need you to grab "The second great tectonic collapse" by Sachur, it's for a side project that I'm researching. I kinda got banned from the library for 'vandalism of library property' but I'd like to call it 'correction of historical inaccuracies'. It should probably be in the lower sections of the archives, so you'll have to get access to them. Which can be annoying with the amount of times that rusty old guard bot malfunctions." (For context the archives are a separate thing from the main library)

Dasolis listens with interest, at least at first. She tries to keep up with the terminology and rapid pace of Damien's discussion. But she gets lost in the end. "Well, thank you," she says once he pauses for a breath. "I'll see what I can find by this Fallon Briarglade or Thomas Steirling. Interesting recommendations." She then nods as she mentions the book he would like them to grab for them. "Well, I suppose we could try and help you out. Though will they just give us a book to take out of this archive? How would we get access?" She has some ideas herself, given her work as a researcher. But she'd rather hear what he intended.
Noelle smiles at Damien. "I'm Noelle Briarglade. Fallon was my grandfather. Part of the reason I've come to the abyss is to search for the one that killed my grandfather. I never got to meet him, so seeing his research would be great."

OK Noelle takes the Misty step scroll as well and that leaves her flat broke.
Question regarding the magic bag I got. How do I implement it? is it like the bag of holding or the handy haversack?
