Week long days, week long nights, sleeping in shifts, learning exploring managing resources. It’s been 90 days since land fall land crash whatever. It was exciting to see such an exotic planet, I mean really never before has a blue sun sustained a habitable planet, an all blue planet… it’s actually torture after awhile. Then one week long day here and the airborne plant pollen starts causing respiratory issues. Luckily we gathered into the Saradie and discovered ‘light’ a basic cantrip- not the natural blue light but full spectrum light reversed even aided recovery from the pollen.
For some reason we need to make repairs to the helm as well as the ship, and since the Lady herself Captain Saradie was one of our casualties upon arriving, tension is very high. Daily life now isn’t so bad but we have only started our nocturnal explorations. Till now only forays have been close proximity daytime trips, there are however certain areas of interest beyond which could prove very important.
Tori will be scrounging for scrap supplies in the hold that could be useful for making the trek into the wilderness. I'm particular any scrap cloth (masks for the pollen and rope), walking sticks (quarterstaves), and anything they could use to make a tent.
When finished she'll check on her dad who's been recovering from the 'Blue wheeze' as he calls it. She has to hunch in the tight spaces, her full height over 7ft tall. She is a picture of perfect health and has managed to avoid getting sick of the planet thus far, but still wears a mask when outside or in the deck with the sick

Tori finds some cloth and quickly manages to produce four very impressively crafted masks. Material enough for even a single tent however is more challenging, there is an abundance of natural ‘wood’ stalk material where you are headed. Actual wood is one of the resources you will be looking for…
Tori’s dad is in good spirits today many have been encouraging him with admiration for Tori’s mission, “She an them other students are what’s gonna get us off this blueberry planet fer sure!”
After the initial crash Krakel was very busy. He did his best to aid and heal the wounded, driving himself nearly to exhaustion. Many were unable to be saved even with the aid of his divinely granted powers. Those he prayed over and performed a funeral ceremony, giving them the best burials possible given the conditions of the planet.
The longer spent on the planet the more people were getting sick from the pollen. While the light magic does help, he knows they will not be able to survive by hunkering down in the ship and just passing time. They needed supplies and so Krakel volunteered to join the expedition, knowing they would need as much help as possible in a place like this.
Krakel enters the Lower deck where the sick are inorder to make his “rounds” and to reactivate the “light orb”(an old cannon ball) he had positioned amidst the sick to shine on as many as possible. He greets Tori “Hail and well met sister Goliath, how does your father fair today”.
After the crash, Lyre helped with her druidic healing magic, till she ran out of magic. After that she had to depend on her untrained medicine skill. Her natural aptitude helped, but after the initial panic, she left the treatment of the wounded to those who were trained in such matters.
Instead, she was on the first on the exploration expedition to examine the world around them, and was one of the first to sick from the pollen. Fortunately, it was a mild case (she had cleaned off most of the pollen with prestidigitation) and recovered quickly. Later, after it was discovered that the light cantrip was effective against the pollen, she realized her quick was due to her parent's liberal use of light spells to light up their room. She retrained to learn the light spell, and used started using it continuously.
After recovering from the effects of the pollen, Lyre joined every expedition she could to learn about their surroundings or to gather supplies. And she studied the notes of those expeditions she didn't go on. {Trying to update her nature skill for this world}
And of course she volunteered for the latest expedition, to find a source of wood...
{Silly question, is there a bag of holding aboard? That would make retrieving wood from a distance MUCH easier! On the other hand, as something VERY valuable in our current circumstances, I wouldn't expect it to be sent with us when we are striking out into unknown territory. Rather it would be used on a follow up expedition after the presence of wood has been confirmed, and the danger of the route evaluated.}
Magoo has seen the two Goliaths because how could you not see two Goliaths - they are huge to him! But it is the elf, Lyra, who attracts his attention due to her interest in nature. Since he has spent a lot of time between towns and in the woods - albeit back at their former home - he is comfortable in that setting and respects others similarly inclined. He guesses her knowledge of nature might combine well with his ability to survive against the odds so he approaches her. After introducing himself and sharing with her an abbreviated version of his biography, he gets to the point.
“So we apparently need to find a lot of wood to fix this ship or to settle down. Whichever reason it is, a search party will need to go. You may not have seen much of me since I generally stay out of sight but I’ve seen you on some expeditions and looking out into the woods. You look like you know what you are doing, something I wouldn’t say about most. A few of us younger and braver ones should conduct a search for the wood. We are probably more comfortable out here than most - what say you that we find another youngster or two to join our merry band to help save this crowd?”
While wearing these masks you’ll have advantage on saves made to resist the ‘Blue Wheeze’ As you go about your daily routines you notice everyone is busy it looks like many small repairs have been completed, the sick and dead have been tended to, and resources from the nearby areas have been put to use. You still have 48 hours till the week long night cycle begins. What materials are availeable have been staged near the bigger project areas, but there isn’t enough to really complete anything as of yet…
*Have we noticed similar benefit to other “yellow” light sources like our torches and lamps, or just from magical type light? Do flames seem to “burn” the spores from the air?*
”Aye Tori thank you for the mask it is finely made for such limited supplies it surely will help us with our endeavors.”
Lyre chuckles in response to Magoo's comment, "I think the other youngsters have already been selected. But thanks for the compliment."
Accepting the mask from Tori, Lyre follows her example and tries it on to test the fit. She poke a finger under the edges to check the seal, and breaths in and out hard to see if there are any obvious leaks around the edges. {Something I've been getting practice with since covid...}
Krakel looks from person to person approvingly . “Now we look like a team, if only they had school crests on them”. He says with a hearty laugh as he slaps Tori on the back.

"I can... I can add one if you like" *Tori says blushing*

Some days it’s not bad other days it’s distressful. Wind rain and fire have normal expected effects. Oddly enough burning native materials gives a hotter bluish flame, burning your shipboard materials creates a normal flame…
After making these connections between the light and the flames. Krakel would begin making a small daily offering to the gods of light, specifically an old God he was familiar with from lore. He would burn a small piece of scrap from the ship, a splinter, or a little torn canvas. He would ask the god Apollo to bless them all with his holy light, to keep their torches bright, and lamps full.
after which he would be ready to go whenever the group was.
And so the time of departure finally arrives, on foot following a shallow river you know that you will travel nearly 12 hours before arriving at a fork in the river at that point you will make camp and prepare for the second leg of the journey turning to follow the northerly route still following a branch of the shallow river until you arrive at a wooded valley amongst many acres of rolling hills. With any luck trees will be in abundance and a lumber detail can be set up to harvest wood.
Any last minute arrangements, rations, water, spells? What is your marching order and what is your characters focus, for example journaling, foraging, mapping, scouting, stealth…

— Yes there is an abracadabrus
and a portable hole they are not available for exploratory expeditions however.
You four need only bring back a sample and report.

Tori silently distributes masks to the group and ties her own on testing the fit.

Tori will have toward the back being one of the taller individuals. She'll be mostly focused on foraging for food or other supplies.
