Once the journey toward the rocky foothills begins you notice much less growth and much more rocky terrain. Following the river the water looks perfectly clear. Time passes you naturally feel another time to camp is getting close you watch for a likely area to camp and soon enough you find a flat patch of gravely river bank. The wind here is steady, the temp is cool/cold, the water gurgles as it flows, in the distance you see the looming silhouette of the mountains. Your conditions are harsh and a good rest is not guaranteed please make a Con save to avoid fatigue. Also consume a ration or risk further exhaustion.
Out of the darkness Lyra hears the Dandylion respond, “it was not mine to have or give. It seems to like your kind. If you are returning to the hills and woods beware the shambles is awake. If you travel the other way you are in danger the myconids are not allies!”
{Sorry, somehow I missed this post} Lyre translates for the others, "The Dandylion says it wasn't his to have or give and says it likes our kind. So I guess we'll be keeping it till it wants to leave. Oh, it's warning us that the shambles is awake."
Con save 19, 1 ration marked off. He asks if someone can carry a sack with 7 rations for him. "This pack is bursting to the seams and my back is also!" Even without the extra sack with extra rations, Magoo is carrying a backpack that is as tall and twice as heavy as he is!
Con save 19, 1 ration marked off. He asks if someone can carry a sack with 7 rations for him. "This pack is bursting to the seams and my back is also!" Even without the extra sack with extra rations, Magoo is carrying a backpack that is as tall and twice as heavy as he is!
“I would be more than happy to help carry that for you Magoo. If I was just a little bigger I could carry you too.” Krakel says with a hearty chuckle. “Honestly I used to be only a little taller then you, so I can relate to your challenge and aiding my friends brings me joy.”
In the far off distance you hear rocks banging in a pattern. As you listen closely you hear a pattern of rock clicks like a return message. (Does Krakle speak Primordial or Terran?)

You suspect it is a form of communication but it’s a long ways off…
Everyone gets a decent rest the fresh air and gurgling river helps induce a heavy sleep. Despite the rest, you’re all stiff and sore from the rocky ground…
Another cool day under a starry sky. Today the wind is steady by mid morning your trek is a steady upward walk and by noon you observe three huge stones, they crudely appear to have faces.
Magoo has heard stories of his rock gnome cousins being able to “talk” with stone, but he suspects what they really meant was that they made beautiful carvings with hammers and chisels. Magoo suspects a hammer would not be advisable here so he casts Speak with Animals (2 casts per long break) on himself and addresses himself to the Stoney face, “Hello, kind stone head. We are strangers in this land. Are there any dangers to you or to us that you can tell us about?” He uses Insight (15) to determine the safety of talking to this new thing.
This modification of your spell (speak with animals) is potentially dangerous to the caster.
If you want to try anyway roll an Arcana check DC 17.
If you succeed you can understand what is about to be communicated, if you’d like to speak you may but from the intense nature of the language you’ll need to make a Wis save DC 17 or take Psychic damage…
Maggie nods at Tori, relieved that he did not need to go through the mental effort of translating his spell. “I’m glad you can understand these things.”

Ration marked as used.
Con save 19, 1 ration marked off. He asks if someone can carry a sack with 7 rations for him. "This pack is bursting to the seams and my back is also!" Even without the extra sack with extra rations, Magoo is carrying a backpack that is as tall and twice as heavy as he is!

He does not speak either of those.

“I am a leaf on the wind! Watch how I soar.”
Lyra looks at the faces from a distance. She mutters, "Hmm, an accident of nature, carved, or perhaps some sort of stone golem..."
“Very curious, this planet may not be as “wild” as we may have thought.” Krakel says to the group as they encounter the face rocks.
"I don't trust it. Could these be the 'shambles' the lion warned us of?" Tori says, never taking her eyes off the rocks
As you stand wondering, “grind click click grind - click click click.” One of the heads mouth begins moving.
“I am a leaf on the wind! Watch how I soar.”

If no one understands it Tori will cast comprehend languages
"Don't strain your magic yet, let me see if my language spell works." *She tells Magoo*
(Sorry if that's Meta knowledge, I can edit if need be)
“The roots of the Tree are deep in the rock.” “The mushrooms are deeper.” “The stone in the center is like ice.”
Each head speaks they are facing in different directions.
“I am a leaf on the wind! Watch how I soar.”
(How big are these heads, and about how far from them are we when they start making noise)
They are huge and when they begin speaking you are 120’ away (or closer if you want to be)
“I am a leaf on the wind! Watch how I soar.”
