The kender follows her friend back to help out Gladys, eyes wide at the production she puts on all on her own. "Sure we can help! Do you usually do all this on your own? These puppets are beautiful!" Vexi exclaims as she looks things over. She grins as Vardok rushes in as he usually does, but she holds back and looks at Gladys, "What do you need help with?" She takes a glance at the gathering crowd for the festival, nerves and excitement both building up in her small stature.
Before returning to the Brass Crab to freshen up prior to Ispin's memorial gathering, and while wandering the docks of the harbor, the tinker would inquire about the harbor master.
"Excuse me, where might I find the harbor master's office? Do you know if Jacob Felbert is available? I do wish to speak with him if given the chance. I was wondering if he had considered implementing a rotating carrousel dock chain mechanism that might allow for expedited exchange of goods and personnel thereby increasing productivity for prospective future profits."
The gnome's mind begins to churn with ideas of gears and chains and ropes and pulleys in a marvelous mechanism. If given the chance, he will elaborate on his vision with Jacob, receptive to concerns and questions.
Salty walked through the docks and watched the barges and fishing boats. One man stood out gesturing to the captains and bargemasters. He was a burly Dwarf with thick wavy red hair and beard. From overhearing the sailors he knew this to be the man he was seeking, Jacob Fellbert. Jacob caught his eye, his hand running down his beard.
Kaelthor could feel a presence high up in the tree, it touched him softly with magic and for a brief moment a memory of the great Vallenwood forest that had once ben here surges through his mind. Soft brown eyes in an angular face looks down at him, their clothing that of woven bark and evergreen leaves of the Vallenwood. She lifts a finger in a hushing motion then disappears. A tree dryad.
Vardok quickly learns how to use the puppets strings. Gladys motions to Vexi . The Kender protected Kenderhome, didn't you know? The Kender fought back, I'll play the blue dragon if you take the Highlord and Kronin Thistlefoot fighting as well, Driving the Dragon Army back, killing the Highlord! You can try my other puppets as well.
You notice the sunset, a beautiful display of gold, purple and pink. Time to head back to the Brass Crab as the market comes alive with the festival preparations for the morrow.
Clean and refreshed, the paladin makes his way back to the Brass Crab with a renewed smile as he passes all of the villagers working to get ready for the festival. It's a perfect time for Ispen's memorial, he thinks, trying to put aside any lingering concerns and focus on his good memories of the man.

The gnome paused a moment, a bit unsure how best to approach the man. He took a breath before approaching.
"Ah, um, excuse me good Sir. I am looking for the harbor master, Jacob Fellbert. And if my calculations are correct, I have found him. You may correct me if I am wrong, but you have all the marks of one who not only knows the sea and the beauties it provides, but also the command and respect of a leader with experience to spare of operations and the importance of preparation and logistics."
"Sir, I can see you are a busy individual, many need your attention much more than I. The evening hour is drawing upon us and I am sure you have important matters to attend to. But if you will allow me to introduce myself, I am Seaward Downeaster. But please refer to me as Salty. And while I am here in Vogler to celebrate a dear friend's passing, and enjoy the celebration of the festivities, if you would have time to spare in the near future, I would very much desire to discuss with you the matter of improving the port activities with perhaps a creation of my own design. I will be staying at the Brass Crab if you need to reach me. Or I will find you among the vessels and vassals here on the docks. May the hairs of your beard never cease to grow."
The tinker managed to meter his speech and avoid the run-ons gnomes are accustomed to, however he failed to manage and contain the ramblings his species is known for. He will wait a moment to allow Jacob time to respond, hoping to secure a future meeting before returning to the Inn for last minute preparations before the memorial.
"Wait, did you say Kronin Thistlefoot? My friend Bertran was telling me about him! Can you tell me the story? I thought I had heard of the Thistlefoot family, but I don't recall them being famous..." Vexi eagerly grabs hold of the high lord and the famous kender, making sure the puppet looks presentable before working them to the best of her abilities.
Jacobs jolly eyes squinted at Salty. You here for the festival as well? I'm inundated with ships and boats for it, would you like to tag along and make your suggestions. I can always use a good hand here if you have any intention to stay a while. Salty it is then. I take it that your friend was Ispin? Good man with a sword, he was inconsolable when his wife died, less than a year later he died from a weak heart. I'll be going to the wake myself.
Gladys laughs at Vexi How long has it been since you were home? Kronin got himself made mayor by the Dragon Highlord. He tried to make us slaves in the Dragon Armies just like they did to the gully dwarves. He gathered everyone up and started a guerilla combat group, the Army kept coming in battles that they were unable to fight. He martialed the Kender to keep the women and children safe and took hoopaks against the Highlord. Finally he attacked a column and killed the Highlord in single combat whilst his dragon was absent. He's a hero! You could keep his puppet if you want, I can make another.
"Yes Jacob, Ispin is the reason I am in town. He was a good man with a sword. Had his help once that required his skill. I hadn't heard about the loss of his wife. A shame it affected him so. Yet, everything he did was as such...with his whole heart. The festival is a happy accidental situation."
The tinker walks along with Jacob and explains as best he can without any formal drawings his proposal to improve dock operations. "And by my calculations you could cut down the time a ship is on the docks by as much as 17.3%. I would be honored to help oversee the improvement...ensure proper materials are secured. It would give me a project to manage, and a reason to stay."
The gnome's mind begins to race with concepts and plans, excited to have something new to focus on.
Vardok is making swooshing sounds, mimicking the sound of what he thinks a dragon would sound like in flight. With arm motions of flying and everything. “Brrrrrrruuuuuuuuaaaaaauuuuu” and out comes the dragon flame of his Kender breath. “Whoa, cool! You do that well, Vexi. This is awesome! Thank you!” He stands and admires the puppet, still turning it over in his hands, looking at it from every angle, the knight and the golden dragon have done much battle today. He scratches his head and smiles at Gladys, saying “You said uh something about .. wares? We’ve got to go to Mr. Ispin’s wake, we’re gonna miss him so, but .. what sorta “wares” do you have? Anything as cool as these puppets? For two Kender exploring the world?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Jacob nods his head as Salty tells him about his ideas. With ideas like that you can stay as long as you like, in fact when your time at the Brass Crab has finished, come and room with me. I have a large house so it wouldn't be an imposition. My wife is a good cook, best fish pie I've ever eaten, and the kids are all about ready to be apprenticed elsewhere.
I mainly have puppets for sale, but I'm also a fair alchemist, I make fire bombs, small globes that I put in a sixpack bandolier. You throw them at your enemies. Would have come in handy fighting the dragon army scouts that you found. I also have some steel +1 daggers for sale. Take what you need and swop me something later, she said in typical Kender bartering.

The gnome had certainly moved around in his time. Like a piece of Flotsam on the ocean, he currently found himself far from his home shores. "I love a good spicy fish-head soup. But when you say fish pie...I am unsure I've had anything like that. I will welcome the opportunity to give it a taste. And your offer to stay is generous, thank you kindly. I will plan on reaching you after the festival then, if that is alright?"
"Jacob, I look forward to working with you closely. I best get back to the Brass Crab though and clean up...last minute finishing touches on a project I hope to reveal to remember Ispin. We shall share a toast to the man...and to prosperity for Vogler in the future!"
“You betcha I will. Thank you Gladys! I’ll bring you back something cool, something you’ve never seen from my travels. I promise! Can I uh have one of those steel daggers and a bandolier? That would be so helpful, in case we run into the dragon army again.” He slowly reaches over and takes the two things out, holding them up and looking for approval, with a big grin on his face. “Just like Ispin would have wanted. He always said that “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Thank you, Gladys!!" And if she doesn't stop him, he elbows Vexi and then runs pell-mell out of the place and back to the Brass Crab for the rest of the evening's events.
