Brion Haleford is a living legend. He's a performer par excellence, a welcome addition to any tavern's lineup of entertainment, and a frequently sought-after bedchamber companion.
At least, that's what he dreams about. In reality, he has some skill with the fiddle, but his bookings are usually too few and far between to pay the rent, his creditors are frequently knocking on whatever shabby kip he's holed up in, and he hasn't been invited to anyone's bedchamber in so long he's not even sure he remembers how to do the Luskan double-axle.
It wasn't always like this. An aasimar, he grew up thinking that because of his celestial heritage, the world would be his oyster and that the horn of plenty would shower him in riches and hedonistic pleasure. It wasn't his fault that he was a poor judge of character. One too many loans, a few card games he probably should have skipped, and by the hells, he had no way of knowing that court attendant was married. Down on his luck, but with a plucky, can-do attitude, the one thing that Brion has going for him is that he's always got his audience and his reputation in mind - and he'll resort to the occasional foolish heroics to preserve those two things.
A talented swordsman, he weaves a scimitar as deftly as he draws a bow across the strings of his fiddle. He's got a soft spot for orphans, and he does not suffer rudeness lightly. He's currently between gigs (on the lam) and looking for gainful employment (something to pay off Big Crudo) when he hears about possible openings with the Adventurer's Guild...
Arty is a kid in a grownup world, originally running with a rough crowd just trying to survive, he now is a squire of sorts after his talents were realized. Now he trying to put the criminal life behind him but it is how his instincts react. His size and age are his biggest hurdles to overcome. He's is an undersized unexperienced in life, but is quick and smart/witty for a youth, and a great shot with a bow! Might need to find halfling armor to fit him till his growth spurt!
Open to other party members being the adventurer Arty is a squire to.
Edit: Looks like the dice rolls changed from what it originally told me, the original numbers were 7, 11, 13, 10, 5, 11
The PbP will depend on how often we can all meet, but it'll be at least a month.
From this tidbit, is the plan that you want to schedule sessions for us to be all online at the same time?
(Asking since most PBPs in this forum are continuous, with posting when you can.)
Also as a second question, 2014 rules or 2024 rules?
It honestly depends. I want people to be able to have conversations, but ultimately it is up to the players, so I don't mind either way!
Also, 2024. Makes it easier.
Definitely finding this interesting, but I really can't commit until this question is settled ... if it's all online at the same time, can't do it. Otherwise I generally can commit to posting at least a couple times a week unless the life craziness gets crazier than usual. That said, I really like how player-centric and flexible you're making this.
Curious about the style you're planning to run this in, if you've decided that ... IOW do you tend to DM/play more RP-heavy, or more combat/strategy-heavy (or with something else as the focus besides the story/RP elements)?

EDIT: Enough interested to drop in a set of ability rolls and basic backstory just in case --

Oh, for that I usually like RP focus, but you don't have to worry your trigger finger, there'll be plenty of combat for you all. And like I said, It lies on the players to decide. If we can't find a spot that works for everyone, we can just post when we have time, so you wouldn't have to worry about that! And thank you, I try to make sure each of the players get the best experience.
Really quick! I don't know if everyone here read it, but the SU at then end of the title means Sign Up! I'll start a new thread for the actual thing once everyone is ready. I'll keep this thread open so we can all talk to each other after each session is over.

Rowan was raised in Briar Glen, a quiet village between the Long Road and the Dessarin River where the rhythm of life followed the seasons and the land’s gentle demands. From an early age, he worked alongside his family, tending crops and caring for livestock. His grandmother, a respected herbalist in the village, introduced him to the old ways—teaching him how to listen to the wind, read the signs in the soil, and respect the delicate balance of nature. Rowan’s affinity for the natural world grew with each passing year, and he often found solace wandering the nearby woods and meadows, learning from the patterns of animals and the subtle changes in the environment.
He felt a gentle pull toward the mysteries of the natural world, but his focus remained on protecting the land and the people who depended on it. When a traveling druid visited Briar Glen, Rowan was inspired by the stranger’s wisdom and began to explore his own budding druidic abilities, practicing in secret and seeking to heal and nurture the world around him.

Perfect! Everyone! I think that's good! I set up the actual PbP, so once your all ready, send your name over, have a quick conversation. I'll have an explanation on what happening after acquaintances have been made!
