I'm just your everyday dungeon master. Ignore that jar full of souls. And those bones in the corner are just props, don't worry. I'm definitely NOT a lich. Definitely.
Yes, I like beholders. Yes, I curated an exquisite personality for commoner #2864. Yes, my catchphrase is "are you sure?"
What is with everybody rolling really well on ability scores on this thread?

Hello! Call me Gato (Cat in Spanish) In this place where you're not here, in this place where I was with you Your eyes are too kind, and I'm covered in wounds. Don't let me love you. They say people are born different. We brainwashed in the same system. They expect perfection. So how can we be different? NOW, ALL HAIL MERLIN, AND THE GREAT MERLIN ARMY. GIVE ME A 4D8 ATTEMPT: [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll]=[roll][roll:-4]+[roll:-3]+[roll:-2]+[roll:-1][/roll]

Ability scores: 1812106811
I think that worked, but 18!, and a six
The worst I ever rolled was a 3, 6, 7, 12, 11, 9

There you go! One 18, but a point total of 65 across all 6 abilities. (That's just barely above the "average roll" if I had been rolling plain 3d6.) With +2 / +1 adjustments, I guess you could make it
That might work for a class that only relies on a single ability score, but the PC might struggle to shine in a party where you've got other PCs with ability rolls that total to 80+!

Born to a noble family, Hanger was part of a bargain his family made with a greater vampire lord. In exchange for wealth and power, Hanger would be cursed as a Dhamphir, and once he came of age signed over in service to the dark lord. Once this happened, his first order of business was to turn on his own parents. Hanger has committed great evil in service to this dark creature, and seeks a way to break the chains that bind him to this darker power.
Harengon bard of creation, former military drummer boy.
Harry used to be a part of the military, using his natural connection to the song of creation to create armor, weapons, rations, and so on for the troops. However, eventually the usage of a drummer boy became scarce, and he turned to adventuring.

Huh, didn't even realise. Glad I stuck with standard stat rolls then.
Anyway, if someone else is set on playing a sorcerer, I do have a halfling druid idea that would be cool to play. The published Circle of Dragons (from Griffon's Saddlebag) sound like it would be a lot of fun, and not too far from the original concept.

Just to be clear: that was just a joke to see whether I could roll some mediocre or terrible ability scores. I am not intending to create a character for this campaign. (Already involved in too many other games.)
I can't figure out what the roll dice is on the top of the this post. I rolled in the character creation and just have him as a 3rd level Warlock, I can swap out for another class. The basic back story can still hold. Son of a poor dirt farmer, that wants to leave.
Initial thought is a Warlock that does not understand he is one. Used Trading Places movie as inspiration. The Duke Brothers (Mortimer & Randolph) would be the Patron.
Has an ambition to leave the family farm. Not very good at farming. Better at catching protein and fixing things. The Duke brothers made their typical $1 bet about nature vs nurture. Thus being a GOO type of patron. The Duke Brothers will ensure they are his Patron and will need to have an Imp familiar before he can reach 3rd. Not knowing what an Imp is, the brothers told him it is a special type of "raven" pet and he does not know his raven is an Imp. Not being very bright, but ambitious enough to leave, he signed the warlock contract with a mark of an illiterate farm boy but thinks he is now a sorcerer.
His criminal background is related to being a farmer near a big city. Being out in the fields, or at roadside produce stand, bored out of his feeble mind, he sees the city folk come by on the roads and talks with them. That association in the fields means he is practicing with them sleight of hand & lockpicking. "Met on the farm various individuals who want to get out of the city. Those individuals have bodyguards and other low- mid level crime figures escorts while the high level individuals conduct business outside of prying eyes/ears."
