The kitchen is tidy, with dishware, cookware, and utensils neatly placed on shelves. A worktable has a cutting board and rolling pin atop it. A stone, dome-shaped oven stands near the east wall, its bent iron stovepipe connecting to a hole in the ceiling. Behind the stove and to the left is a thin door leading to a well-stocked pantry (area 4B). All the food in the pantry appears fresh.
Behind a small door in the southwest corner of the kitchen is a dumbwaiter—a 2-foot-wide stone shaft containing a wooden elevator box attached to a simple rope-and-pulley mechanism that must be operated manually. Hanging on the wall next to the dumbwaiter is a tiny brass bell attached by wires.
Unfortunately, there's no door leading to the outside.
“It certainly sees like evil things have transpired here. Torture, adultery, and a dungeon!? I did not see a way down, so there may be a hidden trap door somewhere. Perhaps the exit is through that dungeon.”
Nathaniel goes to ring the bell to see what effect it has, if any.
"I say we don't trust the food, either," Ellie says, looking at the spread before them. She cautiously watches from the doorway as Nathaniel goes to ring the bell.
Ellie looks around the kitchen and the previous room, checking out the ground floor window situation, hoping that there's nothing as permanent as the front door or missing kitchen door.
You investigate the Dining Room. The centerpiece of this wood-paneled dining room is a carved mahogany table surrounded by eight high-backed chairs with sculpted armrests and cushioned seats. A crystal chandelier hangs above the table, which is covered with resplendent silverware and crystalware polished to a dazzling shine. Mounted above the marble fireplace is a mahogany-framed painting of an alpine vale.
The unnatural cleanliness has you uneasy. Something feels off.
You look more closely at the wall paneling. The wall paneling is carved with elegant images of deer among the trees. However, after a few minutes of careful study you see see twisted faces carved into the tree trunks and wolves lurking amid the carved foliage.

Vicki says: "Of course." to Ellie's comment and waits for Nathaniel to finish checking for traps.
Nathanial rings the bell. At first nothing happens, then you hear a thud above you as if something hitting the floor in the room above the kitchen.
"Sounds like that was the dinner bell." Vicki says, deadpan.
"Let us hope we're not on the menu, then. Are we still thinking of investigating upstairs for a way out, then?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard that, this time.
“I think so. Let’s see what’s up there and what made that thud when I rang the bell.“
Ellie looks around the kitchen and the previous room, checking out the ground floor window situation, hoping that there's nothing as permanent as the front door or missing kitchen door.
There are still rooms to explore downstairs or do you want to head up the stairs?
I think upstairs to investigate the noise
"Should we check the rest of the rooms for doors or windows before we head upstairs? The quicker we find an exit the happier I'll be"
And I think we both do NOT want to see what made that thump, do we? Unless it was you. Could it have been? No, of course not.
Ellie looks around the entranceway, not willing to start searching rooms by herself.
"Let's clear the rooms on this floor first", Vicki says.
“Alright, I’ll keep the rear with an eye on the stairs in case something comes down.”

"I hope I dont have to say not to touch anything in the room"
