You’re at home with your friends. It’s almost December, and it’s gonna be 1990 next year. You’re all huddled around the TV, watching home alone, when all of a sudden, everything shuts down. Lights, heat, everything. It’s routine, right? Chicago snowstorm. All a sudden, there’s a chill. A small writing, which seems to be magic, appears on the tv. “Beware- the Avalanche will come.”

I'll take it. I'm looking for average scores, to be honest.
Name: Vale Class/Species: Human Ranger (Hunter) Backstory:
Vale's not anyone you'd expect to be here --- huddled around a television, of all things! The heating barely warming the house, the cold front coming in --- he can feel it in his knees, the hurt letting him know that this'll be a big one. "You've got to be kidding me," he mumbles to himself. He came over to tell these kids to turn the sound down --- his ears are getting old, after all. But now, he's stuck here --- "This is the worst day of my life..." he says in denial.
Vale --- when you hear that name, you probably picture a young man, in his twenties, fresh out of the carousing and vices of youth. Maybe an elegant hunter in the British countryside. That's not him. He's a seventy-eight-year old Chicago resident, with the accent to go with it. He's lived here his whole life, and isn't about to stop now --- heck, forty years in a cannery didn't really rake in the greenbacks.
But he's happy with his life --- even though it draws attention. Every weekend, he'll leave his humble abode, in the middle of the city, and drive two hours to the nearest state park, set up camp, and hike around for two days. They call him the Woodsman, but it's only another accolade earned from years of dedication.

Hello everyone. I'm interested in joining your campaign. It really sounds fun, but I don't really have a lot of knowledge of Wuthering Waves (I know that is post-apocaliptic and closer to modern day). Could you give me a small idea of the story and our roles in the campaign? Also, is magic a rare thing? I ask for the character classes.

Yikes! a 10, an 8 and a 13 are quite low. I'll try a second time, but I'll accept if you'd want me to keep the first roll.

Ok, I have my character.
Name: Garrett Donaghy (he/him) Class/Species: Human Rogue (thief) Backstory: Ever since higschool, Garrett was bullied for being more reserved than the rest of his peers. He trained to be a nimble person to keep himself safe from bullies at his school, and also trained his behavior to speak his way out of conflicts. He later became a psychologist to make sure that nobody could suffer the same way as he did because of the problems in the world and the people living in it.
One day, he was invited to a college friend's house, his best friend, to watch a movie when the power goes out. And after the words “Beware- the Avalanche will come.” appeared on the tv, he tenses up and starts to look around. He has read horror stories that had similar situations. What should he do? Stay inside? Hide? Run to the streets? But there is one thing he knows, if anything bad happen, he'd make sure to help as many people as he can to survive whatever is going to happen.
Hi, I’m Zaphod, my pronouns are he/him, and I've got a bunch of character ideas, so let's see what the dice say first...
Ability scores: 14108151314
That looks good for the Drow Elf Warlock/Clockwork Sorcerer I've been wanting to make. Still working on all the details.
I've got mine worked out now.
Name: Marcus Velwin Species: Elf (Drow) Class: Sorcerer (Clockwork) / Warlock Backstory: Marcus grew up in Chicago, the son of Drow parents who immigrated from... somewhere else. They don't talk about it much. His parents are intensely private, almost paranoid, and they spend most of their time in the basement of their modest South Side home. His father works night shifts at a printing press; his mother is a seamstress who takes commissions from home.
Marcus has always felt caught between two worlds. The Drow community (what little exists) expects him to maintain the old ways -- hierarchy, tradition, secrecy. But he grew up watching MTV, going to public school, trying to fit in. He's spent his twenties drifting: a semester at community college studying mathematics, various odd jobs, nights at underground clubs.
About two years ago, during a particularly aimless period, Marcus started experiencing strange dreams; vivid, shifting, beautiful and terrible. A presence reached out to him, playful one moment, deadly serious the next. It spoke in riddles and half-truths, but it offered him something. Power? Purpose? He's still not sure. In a moment he can't quite remember clearly (the memory feels slippery, like trying to recall a dream), he accepted. He doesn't understand what he agreed to. He's not sure the entity has spoken to him since.
What's stranger is that other things have been happening, even beyond that. Magic that feels different from what the entity grants him -- more instinctive, more certain. It's like there's another current running through him, one that was always there but is only now waking up. His grandmother (his father's mother, who died before he was born) was... something. His father won't talk about it, gets tight-lipped and changes the subject.
In the present day, Marcus has been trying to understand his situation while maintaining a semblance of normal life. He works part-time at a record store, and part time helping his mother sell her work -- taking commissions, delivering finished pieces, sometimes setting up at weekend markets or small pop-up sales in the city. He lives in a cheap apartment in Wicker Park, and has cultivated a small circle of friends -- people who accept his odd appearance and stranger hours. He alphabetizes his records, takes the same route to work, eats at the same diner every Tuesday. But sometimes he catches himself doing something impulsive, unpredictable, and he's not sure if it's him or something else bleeding through.
When the lights go out and the message appears, Marcus feels something -- a prickling awareness, like being watched. He doesn't know if it's the entity paying attention or that other magic stirring in his blood. Or both. Or neither. He's learned not to trust his instincts about these things.

Is this an alternate reality situation where elves and dwarves and such are in "modern era 1989?"
*Does this PBP allow for usage of the Modern Magic Unearthed Arcana article, since it's a modern-ish campaign?*
Life Advice: If someone annoys you, just cast Prestidigitation on them and soil their pants.
Goobertio is my hired goon (probably paid), and this is my extended signature: (^v^)
Also, I am a narcissist, used to be aromantic (maybe still am? I dunno...) and 100% a nerd. But, like, a really weird one. More weird than most.
