The Recluse had been silent for a good portion of the trip back. There wasn't much to say when you were agreeable to the choices being decided. He was glad when Caelan had initially indicated apprehension at avoiding the forester's dwelling. Reg was content to complete Clotha's return before following other paths, like the rundown house from long ago. He had seen the kids initially in the glade and after hearing about the old man had deduced the three mounds were connected. He had wanted to reach for the hand in the water particularly after Fabian's riddle mentioned one, but stayed the course figuring that if this was their second encounter and it still appeared it would be here again when they returned. But then Barn warned of the deeper pulls he was glad at his choice, although he silently vowed to return with the big man.
As the group looked on and saw the evening lights of Macha and Nuada's hut, with the dusk starting to fade quickly, he was sure Caelan would suggest backing off to spend the night further away. He was getting ready to raise an objection to Barn's question about proceeding when it appears that the others were in agreement and started to proceed. He wondered how far they were going to push on tonight, in the dark, in a forbidden wood...past an un-natural creature they barely escaped from a day or so earlier. Where were they planning to rest if not this side of safety? He feared they would be on the run through the night but at least running meant one was alive.
He took a deep breath as he tried as silently as possible to move in the ever-dimming light, his acute sight slightly better at night than most folks back home.
Ardwynn wanted to grumble about how noisey everyone was being... though she was not doing so well herself. For every stealthy step forward, the next two seemed to snap every twig underfoot; the snaps echoing through the wood like an echoing lightning strike. She had to suppress the urge to groan at the clumsy stampede past the hut.
Still, she could not bring herself to chide Clotha for clomping through the area like she was delivering drinks to a full table at the tavern. She had no reference. She had no experience. She... was trying, so good on her for that.
