Rowan grunts at Elodin's directions. "Fair enough, but I'll be scouting ahead; you'll need more to keep young master tenderfoot safe than just your stick, Lord Commander." He points to Garo (Jean). "Trueknight, accompany the Commander and his Ward. I will move ahead of the southern pinch. Something doesn't smell right... I've never known shrews to be quiet, day or night, and I heard nothing as I approached the village..." He trails off. Rowan has seemed distracted since he first returned to your camp the evening before last, but he seems almost afraid, now. Definitely odd for the experienced ranger.
Jean, the Professor, and Luna move northward through the foliage. (Free RP for a bit)
Joja/Perspicacious and Baobur/Amaruve, the three of you are now traveling with Rowan, and he is maintaining a steady pace- decidedly stealthier than you're used to... Eventually, you come across a cottage near the furthest outskirts of the Riverside village. He gestures silently, indicating "I'll go check it out." He looks almost sad, and his look lingers on the two of you longer than you're used to. He opens his mouth as though he's about to say something, but then he shakes his head, and he moves to the cottage.
Perspicacious smells an ill wind. Whether it is something about the odd behavior of Rowan, the odd feeling of being so comfortable in this mouse body, or the amount of time they've been here, she can't be sure. She tries to anticipate what the future might hold.
The Name of the Wind: 7
I would like to use my hold to be somewhere I am needed, just in time.
Joja, something is wrong. The wind is telling you that you need to get to Rowan FAST. The cottage is ahead (east) of you (what would be able a football field's length if you were tiefling-sized still). It sits in the middle of a clearing atop a hill. You saw Rowan disappear around the corner of the hill 15 minutes ago, but you can't say with any degree of certainty where he may be now. The river is to the south (right) of you, and you can just make out evidence of the town beyond the cottage to the east.
If you and Baobur are going to act on your hunch, it has to be now. What do you do?
AmaruBur, alone, with Joja, in the forest... feels oddly pleasant. He wants to talk to her, but he's not much of a conversationalist. He doesn't want to seem awkward or weird... It makes him feel awkward and weird. How have the races of the world persisted when talking to girls is like this?
As Gordra, Jean, and Cordelia make their way around to the other end of the shrew village Gordra will ask, "So, what's everyone's read on this place? And Rowan as well? It would seem we still have quite a while to spend here, and he doesn't seem the most forthcoming with information."

"Something's not right, it's been too long. Baobur, we have to go. Now!"Perspicacious rushes off towards the last location she saw or knew Rowan to be, in hopes of heading off whatever danger he may have encountered. She does not wait to see if Baobur follows her.
It doesn't occur to either of them that they have stopped thinking of themselves and one another as Perspicacious and Amaruve... Had they thought to try, they would have struggled to see their "true" forms within and around the bodies they now inhabit...
Joja and Baobur take no caution in sprinting around the hill. As they move around the corner of a barn, they are hit by a sudden smell, musky and unpleasant. However many alarm bells you both have in your heads, all of them are now ringing. Still, you plow forward. Lying on the side of the hill is Rowan. Blood is running down his face and his side from several puncture wounds. He is still and silent as you approach, but then suddenly he gasps, rattling air into what sounds like at least a single collapsed lung. He wheezes into the air, eyes rolling, "Need... Played with me first... Need..." But then he loses consciousness.
(Joja, you're just in time to save Rowan's life, but he may pass in mere moments. Neither of you is a medic (that was Rowan's skill), but the two of you are familiar with some aspects of field medicine. Baobur is "Handy", and he could stabilize him; you can take the "Help" action to give him a boost. Joja, as a reminder, you have +1 forward from Baobur's story. Baobur, you do not benefit from the effects of "Bard". The village is just ahead, but he will likely die before you get there!)
"There must be something we can do? Is there anything to stop the bleeding?" Joja will look around for something to help Baobur stop the bleeding and stabilize Rowan.
Help Action, with Bard inspiration: 9
So, Baobur gets a +1 to stabilize, but I may have opened myself up to some trouble.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Baobur stays calm, he thinks back. He was never good at this. Medicine. In stories some could Cure Wounds with just a Healing Word... No. Those weren't stories. Amaruve could do that. Baobur didn't know Medicine. Amaruve did... "Who are we?" He asks. He thinks on what he knows, on what Amaruve knows. What's he got on him? An Axe, Breastplate, cooking supplies, Honey! Baobur is very handy. He rips off a length of fabric from his cloak and pours honey on it. He folds the material, and applies it to the wounded area. He rips more, a long strip and ties the bandage skillfully. (Handy:12 [+1 Help]) Then he picks up the Ranger and starts for the village quickly.
(According to Google, Honey offers antibacterial activity, maintains a moist wound condition, and its high viscosity helps to provide a protective barrier to prevent infection.)
(For AP, "Help: On a 7-9 your help grants them +1 to their roll, but you also expose yourself to trouble or danger")
The two of you hustle in the direction of the village, Rowan carried as gently as you both can manage. Unnoticed by either of you, however, a pair of eyes glows in the shadows of the trees and follows your departure. They blink once, slowly, then disappear.
Tevii, Elodin, and Garo, you make worse time than Rowan’s company, but maybe not so terrible as you would have expected. You’ve really started to to get the feel of this… of these woods. Tevii is pushing forward faster (he swears he’ll by a Longstride Ranger when he completes his training- they’re the bravest and the best of the entire Patrol). Elodin still manages to keep pace, and Garo, weighted as they are by their armor, nevertheless maintains a steady trek with the rest of the group.
The three of you have been traveling for roughly a half hour. You’d wager that you’re roughly 15 minutes from the village when you hear the creak of a wagon and the clank of pots and pans. A trail is just on the other side of the brush, and you see a small group of shrews moving quickly along it. A large male shrew (roughly the size of Garo) is wearing a straw hat and pulling a cart laden with bags. He’s accompanied by what appears to be his wife and two young children.
"Yes, I have also found my more rodential behaviours taking precedent as well. I would kill for some kind of cheese... But regardless we must discover what it is we are to do in this world."
Jean desperately wanted to make a joke about the guy's wife being a literal shrew but held her tongue. "Should we ask them what's going on?" She asked the others.
(haha, no, you say that and it's good)

**when i started typing my last thing it was going to be about the shrews, and at some point i forgot about them and forgot to add it.**
Elodin approaches the shrews, "Excuse me! Hello there! Are you from the village just over there? Is everything okay? You seem in quite a hurry."
