Oh boy, that eye is really twitching now. In a fury, Tony unleashed a hail of darts, 2! Coming so close, yet nailing his second attempt! Paying out the four gold, Tony hoists the toy gun above his head, “Badabing! Never challenge a goblin to a shooting range! Now, I believe a prize was mentioned.”
The eladrin laughs and claps her hands. "Not bad, big guy!" She gestures to the wall of prizes behind her. There are several large stuffed animals (including a teddy bear in a suit) and a number of little fair prize oddments. (What do you take, Tony?)
After choosing, Tæsn raises the bronze medallion over her head reverently. You see that there is a dart rifle embossed on its surface. She loops the neck ribbon around your neck (having just a little trouble managing your nose and ears). It's not a bad fit, though! "Hang onto that," she says, "A lot of people have tried for it tonight, and you're the first to win."
(lol lets try that. Though, watch now that I need to roll low it'll be a high roll.)
Number of additional shots: 9
(I imagine Jean just spilling a little mound of gold onto the counter and using rifle after rifle until she wins)
At your final attempt, the eladrin looks at you, eyes wide, and says. "Whoa. You really wanted that." She points to the prize wall again. "I'm afraid each game booth has just the one medallion to hand out. No idea why they wanted us to have those this year. I tell you what though," she lifts another rifle up from under the counter. Unlike the lightweight dart guns you've been using, this weapon looks like serious business. "You ever want to learn to use one of these for real, just find me after the festival." She flashes a huge grin. "I'm teaching riding all week at the ranch. I'll be waiting."
(Now, there are tons of other games and contests out there! What are you going to try next?)
Games! Roulette Darts Slime Smoosher (whack a mole) "Flown the coop" and "Fizzgig Wranglin'" (animal catching games) The 120th Annual Pie-Eating Contest of Champions Tug o' war Mud Wrasslin' And more!
A naughty look crosses Jean's face when the woman says she'll be teaching "Riding", but instead Jean says "Oh, I'm sure the trinket was fine, but mostly I was having fun seeing how to work this wee gadget. So, where's this Ranch you work at? I'm Jean, by the way."
Tæsn gives you an odd look when you say you aren't familiar with the location of The Ranch (and she stress the capitalization this time). "It's the huge damn building on the west side of the fairgrounds?" She looks incredulous. "Have ya'll never been to the Festival of Steam before?"
Cordelia, as usual, has been staring off into space. This happens a lot lately. It happened before Gordra's departure, but it seems to have really stepped up since then. After everyone got up and went to enjoy the festival, she finally snapped to reality to notice everyone gone. Even Duchess was off somewhere, possibly causing mischief.
Stealth to see if quiet: 22
Cordelia, out of habit, walked quietly and quickly to the darts stand where she spotted Jean. She stood nearby everyone as they carried on a conversation. She wondered for a moment if her fellow human was flirting with this elf lady... seems plausible. Not wanting to bother the conversation, Cordelia put 2 g on the counter and picked up the dart. It seemed really hi-tech. She wondered if this world was anachronistic. Those were her favorite sort of leaps.

Cordelia, you check your device as you walk through the crowd toward the darts tent. It's been quite some time since your first leap, and you've learned a great deal since then. You have the vast majority of the Stardust's features worked out, and it tells you everything you need to know about this world. There were no resources taken from it by the Tower, for starters. It would appear that, instead, the Tower simply observed this world to better understand how such a conflict-free utopia could exist for so long. You also note this world's Local Potentiality (the measure of how likely you are to solve a problem). Things looked grim just after the leap, but after Tony and his sister met up with your party that number jumped from up to over 50%. That, at least, lessens your worry a bit- the odds are rarely so high.
Looking around, you notice that things aren't advanced so much as they are totally steampunk. You're not sure how you missed it, but this is a world of western America-style retro futurism. Handlebar mustachios abound, as do bustled leather skirts, over-engineered pocket watches, and bizarre technological wonders.
The eladrin gives a start- Tæsn hadn't noticed your approach. She hands you a star-shaped pencil top eraser and, seeing your expressionless face, her grin falters. "Are you feeling alright, sweetheart?"
"Yes." Cordelia nods as she accepts the star-shaped pencil top eraser. It looks like the sort of thing she would have liked as a kid. Was this really worth 2g? I guess it is a carnival after all... Without another word, she slips away, accidentally skulking as she does. Oh no, it would appear she is suffering from a preteen attitude again. She strolls taking in the sights, the smells, and the sounds. Her eye twitches as her lips pull into a smile she can't help but have.
Steampunk. She recalled Sasha's, the infamous roommate, penchant for the steampunk fandom. Gears on tiny top hats. Gears on necklaces. Gears on - well, anything. Of course, that isn't what defines that genre. This place looks way more steampunk than any of Sasha's wonderful cosplays. She would have loved it here and started screaming about how rad everything looked. Thank goodness she is back on Earth.
Cordelia notices another booth that seems to have a whack-a-mole-like game. She lurks nearby, observing. Maybe she'll try her hand at it if the rules are similar...

Cordelia, as you walk up to the Slime Smoosher booth, you notice Kyo scattering the crowd surrounding "Flown the Coop" as he scampers away from a number of noisy white chicken-things. He has a manic grin on his face as he leaps over a fence, the flock of angry cuckoos kicking up dust at his tail... He's probably fine.
Arriving at the booth, you don't see any kind of attendant. There is a board with rules painted upon it, though:
SLIME SMOOSHER RULZ! 1) Have SO MuCH fUN 2) DoN't hurt the slIMes. Please? 3) UsE mAllet. ThE MalLEt foR smooSH.
In front of you is a raised table with 9 evenly spaced holes, each about 4-5 inches in diameter. There is a padded red mallet attached to the table via a metal cord.
As you approach, you hear a few faint whispers coming from the table. "Oh my gosh she's gonna play." "Everybody get ready get ready get ready!" "Is she gonna use the smoosher? I looooove the smoosher!"
Cordelia merely tilts her head and takes the mallet. She seems unafraid... for now.

As you pick up the mallet, Cordelia, a bright green slime pops out of a hole and beams at you with its gooey, lopsided face. It shouts, "Alright! Try to hit as many of us as you can in one minute. You'll get a swell prize if you can hit twenty or more!"
And with that, a large, battered grandfather clock just behind the table begins ticking with a grinding of gears and whistling steam. Nine multicolored slimes begin popping out and back into the holes in the table at lightning speed (pink, cyan, blue, green, charcoal... a real rainbow of monsters).
(Roll a d20 and add your Dex or Str modifier! No proficiency with the mallet allowed, I'm afraid. You can roll 3 times before the slimes give up on you. Remember, you can try to cheat at any mini-game if you can think of a clever way to do it!)
Cordelia sees a pattern forming as she observes the slimes pop up. Something like a rhythm almost. She hums a melody to that rhythm as she bonks in quick secession.

Cordelia, it takes you two tries, but in taking some time to analyze their pattern you manage to bash twenty on your second attempt.
Your foam-wrapped mallet crashes down with a SPLOOT on the purple slime. It splatters, and the other slimes pop up in unison to cheer.
"Great job!"
"You're the first one to do it!"
"Hey, take this"
The purple slime coalesces. Without warning, it skooshes up your arm and wraps a bronze medal around your neck. It is embossed with a dynamic image of a mallet squishing a slime.
Cordelia shivers from the sudden contact and slick feel of the slime. She picks up the bronze medal and gives it a look over.
"Umm... Thanks?"
