In the meantime, Kyo marches back to flown the coop. He's covered in scratches and white feathers, and he carries a net half-filled with five or six chickens. He hurls the birds over the fence at an angry-looking worker and marches away, eyes narrowed, tail lashing, and no medal on his chest.
(There are lots of other games to play! Amaruve? Perspicacious? Jean? Want to try for a medal?)
Jean, sensing that she wasn't going to get any more flirting done here, decided to browse the food stalls for something tasty and a glass of ale before trying out the Roulette.
Jean makes her way up to a tent serving beer and thin slices of beautiful red meat. There are also plates filled with vegetable steamed dumplings and spicy noodles pan-seared in a sweet-smelling sauce. As she sidles up to the booth and drops some silver on the counter, she is greeted by a soft, distinguished voice. It's the aarakocra from earlier! He has the look of a scholar about him, and he peers at Jean owlishly (hard not to do with a face like his) and sips delicately from a bone-white cup barely larger than a thimble.
"Pardon me, young warrior. You wouldn't happen to be..." he looks to the left and to the right, pitching his voice to a whisper as he leans close, "...on an adventure, would you?"
Amaruve steels his resolve and approaches the wand wielding gnome at the flaming death.
The halfling idly taps his wand on the stone bench as Amaruve approaches. When he hears the crunch of bear paws on scorched earth, however, he looks up, yelps, and tumbles backwards off of his seat.
Popping his head up over the bench, his eyes stand out brightly against a soot-stained face. "Holy crap! Uh... help. Help!" the halfling cries.
Perspicacious walks up behind Amaruve. "Not to fret, the bear's with me, and I think he'd like to play your game here. What do you call it? Flaming Death? Sounds ominous. Can we both play? Hopefully being a Tiefling doesn't disqualify me from participating." She smiles at the halfling and takes out enough coin for both her and Amaruve.
"Everybody looks at me like they think I'm a gnome," the halfling mutters (mostly) to himself. "Why would tieflings be disqualified?" Says the halfling. Amaruve jogs up behind Perspicacious in dog form. "That bear thing was with you?! That's crazy! Where did it go, anyway?" The halfling stands up from behind the bench and dusts off his robes. "My name's Tuppin. I guess this is your jackal-thing, too, right? He can play if he wants- fair warning, though: you both might get a little singed." He twirls his wand, "I can heal most of the damage, but you're gonna feel sunburned for a couple days if you cock this up."
He grins wickedly. "Still wanna give it a try?"
Flaming Death! There are several of those oil-and-smoke salamander things floating in mid-air around the black circular patch of earth within an outer white ring. Every time they find something flammable (including flesh), they swarm onto it and catch fire. The ring is also filled with a maze of invisible walls, which Tuppin conjures into existence with a flick of his wand. Your goal is to make it through the maze and to the floating bronze medal at the finish line.
There may also be traps! No other directions are given. Just describe your intended action then roll, adding modifiers as appropriate (probably a good idea to make multiple rolls at once). You can help one another for advantage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perspicacious grins mischievously as she places the appropriate coin in front of the halfling, keeping the knowledge that she's naturally flame resistant to herself. "You might want to stick close, Amaruve. Let's see if we can sniff out a path."She takes the lead, and steps into the maze.
I get Help as a bonus action, which I will just take to mean I'm better at assisting, so I'll give that help to Amaruve's first check.
Perspicacious will grip the mammon coin in her pocket, partly for luck, and partly to see if it grants her any guidance. With her other hand she'll draw the empty bow, and with a silent command word transform it into a smaller quarterstaff, and use it to prod ahead of her for invisible walls, searching the path. Perception: 17 Investigation: 11 Dexterity Save (In case of Salamander): 22

Amaruve moves in a long side Prespicacious. Using his Keen Hearing and smell to try and locate the appropriate path (Perception: 21) If something does damage him his nature is revealed, so he just rolls with it. He'll use the Novascope's curse, the Novascope's gift, transforming into a big glowing bear beetle (Giant Fire Beetle) and glows brightly shedding bright light over 10 feet and gaining Blindsight to a distance of 30 feet. Maybe they'll slip through unscathed...
With that roll it's unlikely (Jackal Dex save: 10)... (Beartle Perception: 13) (adv. Help: 22)... He's distracted by the fanciful beasts. Are those beasts? Can I take that form? (I assume they're elemental, so no.)
Perspicacious, with your perception roll you fail to identify a spring-loaded trap until you walk through the trip wire. However, you manage to just barely evade the DC 15 trap, which would have catapulted you skyward. Your investigation results in no significant progress deeper into the maze. The salamanders have noticed you...

You'll have to perform an arcana check to determine what manner of creatures they are. They're certainly not part of the natural world; they look like a mixture of black smoke and oil that have come to life. With your dex save, you also escape the catapult trap that Perspicacious set off.
With your perception check, you see the next trap before you and Perspicacious come across it. You make it a little deeper into the maze.
However, the bright light of your fire beetle body attracts 4 salamanders! They swarm and instantly light themselves ablaze. They aren't doing any harm to you (Calvinball), but Perspicacious takes 10 fire damage from the sudden blast of heat. Perspicacious, you will continue to suffer 4d4 damage until you get at least 10ft away from Amaruve!
The heat doesn't really hurt that much, but it is annoying. Perspicacious tries to get some distance away from the Beartle, while offering up some suggestions (Help Amaruve, again). "Maybe you could try stop, drop, and rolling? I'm going ahead, try to keep up." She tosses some water from her water skin at the salamanders to shoo them away.
To get away, Perspicacious takes a few ball bearings from a small sack in her backpack and rolls them along the floor, watching where they travel, hoping they bounce off the walls enough to perceive a path. Then continues forward using the quarterstaff to guide her.
With your crit Perception, you make it all the way to the end of the maze! Your Investigation beats the DC 15 trap, and your use of ball bearings and water repellent earns you Inspiration!
No need for the Dex save; however...
Before you floats the bronze medallian. Tuppin shouts, "Alright! I can't believe you made it through so quickly! You're the first people to make it!. Wait a minute-"
Tuppin notices a moment after you do: the smoke salamanders have begun to coalesce. They swirl together to form a large, smoking monster that crashes to the ground.
"Oh! Oh, my!" The owlakocra sputters and his eyes widen even further. "That's fabulous. Tell me, warrior- how in all the Air Ocean did you find your way to our little island in the sky?"
Kyo eyes the chickens once more, brushing some feathers off. They got the best of him the first time because he went in too hot. Too feral. This time he would take it slow, try to rely less on his instinct and more on his brains.
