Manny's blast connects once more with the shadowy form. Unlike the arrows which passed through, it seems to seriously dissipate the blackness. And yet, the shadowy form still persists, albeit with slightly less definable features and more and more like a blob.

Vespera will move in, flanking the dark shadow with Silver, and try to hit with her daggers, before moving back outside.
Move: Move to flanking postition Attack main hand: 20 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Attack off hand: 25 Damage: 3 Sneak attack damage add to first hit: + 6 Bonus action: Cunning Action to Disengage Rest of move: Move back to door way.
Silverlining watches for an opening in the shadow’s actions after its last attempt. Finding it, he performs a quick series of whacks to see what he can disrupt before deciding what to do next.
Action: Attack, To Hit: 23, Damage: 5. Bonus Action: Attack, To Hit: 8
”Any idea what we are actually struggling with here, guys?”
(ooc - I rerolled the dmg for both of Vespera's attacks. I rolled the miss-chance as well. Dmg 4 and 2. But the 1st attack misses. The campaign log only has 3 rolls for some reason everything else has disappeared - is that normal ? The attack from Silver also misses due to incorporeality.)
@Vespera, your dagger seems to pass right through the insubstantial shadow. You give it a try with the off hand, and you think you felt some resistance to it, unlike the first pass. The form does not seem to be bothered much, not like it was by Manny's magic.
@Silver, you do it by the book, your form is perfect, you know you have it, but instead of striking at anything at all, you just feel your hand pass through the shadow and you feel a chill pass through you. That throws your second strike off, brushing the form on the side, with a similar chill to your skin.

Manny communicates with his Imp (who can see in magical darkness and maybe something else) to determine what the Imp sees. Many is is using the door as cover, proceeds to shift more of his body behind the door (3/4?). The door is more of a cover then a well placed shield.
Vespera in total darkness lights the hooded lantern, but it does not seem to help the darkness at all. ( its all pitchblack, as with your eyes closed )
What the Imp sees is pretty much the same setup as in the previous room. One sarcophagus in the middle of the room three on the walls. They are all closed.
Vespera says, "I hate magical darkness! Be as alert as you can, it will probably come back and attack again." Vespera will start retreating from the chamber, with one hand holding the lantern and the other feeling her way along the wall, trying to find the end of the darkness.
Can you clarify, please. We could see the shadow figure and had a difficult time hitting it cause it had no body. But now that it is gone we are in magical darkness and can’t see at all?

Manny replies to Silverlining, "no clue what this is"

The shadowy form seems to turn in on itself.
@Silver, you are pretty sure it is looking at Manny.
@Vespera, you know it is looking at Manny.
@Manny, you feel that it is looking at you.
There is a sensation of chill all over all of you and then there is darkness.
@Vespera, you see nothing but black, but you know the shadow is gone, yet you know it is only regrouping.
@Silver, you see with your IR that the spot that is colder than cold sinks into the floor and is gone.
@Manny, you see nothing but black.

{Did Vepera make it back outside the room before everything went black?}
Yeah, Vespera is out with the move action.
@Imp, the imp sees the shadow sink into the floor and disappear.
Manny asks the Imp, "so it is gone?" "Anything else in the room?"
With the shadow currently gone, Silverlining begins to look for the key needed for the main door.
It is still quite dark. The Imp can see the rest of you not really. How long do you plan to wait in the darkness ?
Ask the Imp to describe all he sees.
Vespera will try lighting her hooded lantern.

I’m confused on when we could see and how.
{Yes, we are now in a magical darkness field that even blocks darkvision. }
In response to Manny, Vespera says, "We need to see to fight, so we need to retreat at least out of that darkness field!"
Manny, states emphatically, "Yes!"
