Musashi stands over the wreckage of the fight, the adrenaline fading into a dull irritation as he looks at his still-filthy armor. He wipes his maul clean on the cloak of a fallen berserker, his eyes narrowing at the discussion regarding the missing arm.
"A portal, a spell, or a very hungry void" Musashi grunts, leaning his weapon against the stone wall. "Whatever it was, it didn't stop them from trying to kill us. If someone's up there throwing Disintegrate around or closing portals on their own men, we aren't walking into a friendly greeting party."
He looks up the 120-foot shaft, then back at the group.
"We’re as rested as we’re going to get. If these Berserkers found us here, more will follow, or whoever is above will realize their scouts haven't returned. I say we move now before the next surprise has a chance to drop on our heads."

Then, in Musashi’s mind, there is the usual chorus of voices, a mix of mixes of his own voice and Etrus’ in various proportions.

Etrus rubs one long thumbnail against a carving of a large and faceted eye on his Rod of the Pact Keeper and shivers briefly as compacted magic breathes into him (restoring one pact slot) and then casts Invisibility and takes his place in the marching order.
[The next time we take a short or long rest, Etrus will change his tome of shadow spells to include the Alarm spell ritual, to try and avoid us being caught short this way again, as far as we can reasonably prevent it. I'm still not sure I understand how we were all asleep in our bedrolls with the beserkers over us when we had a person on each watch, beyond some sleep spell that we failed?]

As you walk up the tunnel, you all see the tunnel start moving slightly up, then it gradually gets steeper, climbing at a 20 degree angle, and going in a circular shape, like the tunnel is going to circles
