Gail also puts her back on the inner wall of the spiral, while reminding the others, "Remember, I'm human. I need light to fight. So someone needs to create light when the fight starts."
{Did that rest we took count as a long rest? Or just a short rest? Need to finish healing from the mimic fight before getting into a new one.}

Musashi nods at the red-glowing stone, his eyes adjusting to the crimson tint. It's enough to see the curve of the wall without blinding them. He stands like a coiled spring, his heavy armor silent as he braces for the first head to pop around the bend. "Red is fine" Musashi breathes, his eyes fixed on the tunnel's throat. "It'll hide the blood when I start swinging."
Musashi doesn't lower his maul, but he relaxes his stance slightly, his eyes tracking the three nervous humans. His gaze shifts to the quivers on their backs.
"Patrols usually have better armor" Musashi rumbles. "And a better sense of who they're looking for. Who is he, and what happened to this Tan?"
He stays toward the front, a towering, red-lit wall of iron between the meek party and his friends.
"Speak clearly" he adds, a touch of grit in his tone. "The more you stammer, the more my friend here (he points to Scarlett) starts thinking about swinging."

"He is a giant floating eye, and Tan is our rager companion, with four other friends"
Musashi’s eyes narrow, his grip on the maul tightening at the mention of the "floating eye." It seems the Behir wasn't exaggerating—they are in the Beholder’s territory, and these three are likely its servants or lackeys.
"A floating eye" Musashi repeats, his voice flat. "Then you're working for a Beholder. And if Tan was the leader of that group we just met in the nook, then your ranger and his friends are currently decorating the floor downstairs. They tried to ambush us while we slept." (OOC: We're innocent, I tells ya! Innocent! Mwahahahahaha!)
He takes a slow, deliberate step forward, letting the red light of the stone catch the edge of his weapon.
"If you want to live longer than they did, you’ll tell us exactly how many more patrols are between us and your master...and if there's a way up this spiral that doesn't involve a fight."
Musashi’s expression softens from predatory to pitying, though he doesn't lower the maul. He remembers the missing arm on the man downstairs...a brutal reminder of the Beholder's power.
"We saw it" Musashi grunts. "A clean erasure. If he treats his own lackeys like that, I can see why you're eager to talk."
He gestures up the tunnel with his chin. "You want to settle the debt? Tell us the layout. We’re going up there to end that eye's reign, but we aren't interested in wading through more of his servants if they'd rather be elsewhere. How do we get to him, and what else is he keeping between here and his lair?"
"We've never seen what he holds, and just four pillars, stone that go all the way to the ceiling, he probably will be hiding near the back when we return. and his lair is just up the tunnel"
Musashi absorbs the layout quickly. Four pillars mean four places to hide from the central eye's gaze...or four places for the Beholder to weave between.
"Four pillars" Musashi repeats, a grim smile touching his lips. "Good. That means he can't see the whole room at once, and it gives us cover from those death rays they're famous for having."
He looks back at the group, his tactical mind already churning. "If he's hiding in the back, he's expecting his patrol to walk in first. We use that. We stay tight, use the pillars to break his line of sight, and when we're close enough... I'll take his wings."

Etrus stands there invisibily. With his devil's sight, even with the lights out he can see 120 feet as if it was bright day, in normal colour vision.

Doc Jojo bends down and picks up a rock (or a piton inside pack if no rocks).
JoJo then holds the object and casts light cantrip on the rock. The light is a red color to not affect night vision and hands it to Gail.
"You can always trow the rock behind your target to backlight them...but you know that."

As you all stare down the tunnel, the small meek people peek around the corner, as you all stand there, they cry towards you "Wait, don't kill us!"

What do the small meek people look like? What's their species, their armor/weapon situation, how many of them are they? How far away from us are they?
Twenty feet away, humans and not weapons are actively in their hands, but they do have quivers and bows, three of them

Etrus will silently move backwards to be around 120 feet away from them, maintaining his invisibility and silence.
"OK, keep your hands where we can see them and don't do anything rash."
"Who are you, and how do you come to be here?"
Alteria Bennutu - Orc Archfey Warlock
Scarlett Rotkäppchen - Tiefling Vengeance Paladin
Myrith Duskwyn - Aasimar Warlock
"We come because he sent us on patrol; he's really on edge since Tan didn't come back."
