Leif does not chase after Griss nor offer objection. He assumes he and the others will be called when the king is ready for testimony. He watches as Kora heads inland again and a remembrance came to mind. His hand flits to his pocket where the silver coin resides.
”It is unfortunate that the king was not here. I also wanted to report to him that Kora and I had found a simple greeting in Druidic earlier. We are not alone in this land.”
His fingers dig next to the coin to retrieve the tuft of fur.
”That and I was hoping someone could identify the source of this fur. Do any of you know? It was found next to the cipher.”
He holds out the tuft pinched between thumb and forefingers. He offers Halp orSólmyrkvi to handle it if requested, but will not offer the Firewing gang possession. He’s not sure about the Skald Richter but would consider if he were to ask.
"You have done well and the king will be pleased. Now howver is not the time to hold court." he then begins to order his men to take her away and makes to follow.
Sólmyrkvialso doesn't like the way that things are turning out, but since Merros dismissed Leif's suggestion, he decides not to press the matter. He certainly doesn't join in with the rough talk from Veldir's gang. On the other hand, if Veldir looks his way, Sólmyrkvi scowls after Merros and shakes his head to show that he's also not happy with this outcome.
Sólmyrkvi turns to leave with his companions. He doesn't want to spoil Merros's good opinion of their little group, but he wonders what will happen to the girl. He doesn't notice at first that Korahas headed off inland and is surprised when he realizes that Leif is talking to him about some message they found and showing him some orange fur. Glancing back the way Merros went, he says, "Oh? Um, maybe later, Leif. I think...before they go too far, I'm going to see where they took that girl. Wish me luck!"
And with that Merros and his men are moving away with Griss in custody leaving the crowd behind in anger and confusion. You may try to follow if you wish...
Sólmyrkvi would like to circle back and try to sneak close enough to see or hear what happened to the girl. He's just following where they saw Merros and his men go. If they walked away from the camp, he sneaks quietly in that direction. If he saw Merros take the girl into a tent, he tries to approach unseen until he's close enough to hear what's being said inside. He wonders whether Merros and his men plan to kill the girl, but they just didn't want to do it in front of so many people. What if the girl wasn't really the source of the magic, and some other Power had bewitched her? Would they at least let her make her case?

Halp will keep an eye on Veldir and his mob for a while.
Then he'll go check if Eldon us still at it with his tasks. If he is and he needs an extra pair if hands, Halp will chip in. Otherwise he'll look for a space near a fire to rest.
He'd like to be of use with whatever makeshift funereal ceremonies are in the offing on the morrow, so he figures resting up sooner than later is the smart move.
Kora you leave your companions once more and wander inland toward the western edge of the encampment. You are still tired to the bones, but the long day is almost at an end and sleep is but a few hours away. As you walk in the dimming light you note that the camp while still makeshift, is much more organised this night. Clearly other work parties have been tasked with building more robust shelters, latrines have been dug out and storage areas allocated. The king has wasted no time in bringing order to his people.
Soon you stand at the camps edge, close to where you were earlier with Leif. It is so quiet here, and this night the sky is clear. The first and brightest stars are starting to appear in the dimming blue. You shiver as a cold breeze tugs playfully at your hair. Was there a whisper in that breeze? You are sure you heard words but... you feel a crunch beneath your feet and look down to see you have stepped onto another druidic sign. (roll for either Investigation or Nature DC 12)
Leif you ask Halp and Sólmyrkvi for aid identifying the tuft of red fur. Sólmyrkvi put you off as he is intent of following Merros, and Halp? Well Halp is pretty old and probably did not hear you. He ignores your question and trudges off back toward the beach. It appears that Richter has wandered off in all the confusion. Do you wish to follow Halp or do you have other plans for the evening?
Sólmyrkvi (with a 20) you discretely follow Merros and his men at a distance. They walk toward the northward edge of the camp, where under the orders of Merros a tent is being hastily erected. The girl remains bound and under guard and Merros stands several feet from her. He appears agitated and is pacing back and forth. Every now and again he barks an order at his men for them to hurry. (Roll for perception and if you do not meet the DC of 12 reroll your stealth)
Halp by the time you get to the beach the work has been completed for the day. Eldon is nowhere to be seen so you return to the fire which warmed you last night. You are pleased to discover that it is burning brightly and that the camp surrounding it has seen some work during the day. The shelters look more robust and gods be praised might even offer some comfort this night.
OOC: Eldon and Richter if you have business this evening let me know, otherwise we will just presume you make their way back to the fire and shelters at some point during the evening.
Leif reluctantly pockets the tuft and will linger in the vicinity of the king’s banner. Even if he has lost sight of Sólmyrkvi, he wants to stay within earshot in case there is a disturbance. He stomps his feet and meanders feigning looking for something on the ground. The chill of the evening is coming on fast as the first stars begin to pierce the dome overhead. He glances back into camp and sees some of the bonfires growing and survivors gathering for warmth and community. He looks forward to joining them soon.
Sólmyrkvi the men are working at pace and the tent is almost compete when you catch a glimpse of movement off to your right. Veldir is sneaking toward the tent with four of his men and they have weapons drawn.
Kora, you examine the message and thankfully you have not disturbed it too much. Again it is strange, slightly alien to what you have seen back home, but you can read it. It says "welcome," and you think perhaps, "We watch from the trees." Your eyes drift to the south west where the closest tangle of winter trees sit in shadows of dusk.

@Dreamhobbit - I don't know how you handle spellcasting "stealthily." How far is Veldir's gang from Merros and his men? How far are they from Sólmyrkvi? ]]
Sólmyrkvirealizes that he needs to act fast to prevent bloodshed. Veldir's gang seems intent on killing the bound girl, and that could also lead to a fight with Merros and his men. If Sólmyrkvi thinks that he can cast Create Bonfire without revealing himself, he'll do that. Or, if Veldir is more than 30-ft from Griss and Merros's men, and he thinks that he can cast the spell and then run back toward Leif and the others on the beach without being intercepted by Veldir's gang, he'll do that. He's not planning to burn anyone in Veldir's gang immediately: he just wants to place the fire right next to them, between them and their path to Griss. That way, it'll hopefully draw attention to them / ruining their surprise before they can attack, and it should create a small obstacle that'll make it harder for them to move toward Griss. The sudden fire might also alert Leif and the others that something went wrong.
If neither of those options seem feasible, Sólmyrkvi will go with plan B...
OOC: Sólmyrkvi the tent is 30ft to the north of you, and Veldir is also the same distance from the tent but around 20ft to your right. This is all approximate but essentially you could all be on top of one another within one round of movement. In this situation you are already in stealth and far enough away that a whispered spell would not reveal you. Especially as their attention is on the girl.
You reach out and cause a flame to spark to life just ahead of the would be attackers. The bonfire explodes into life causing one of the men to straighten with a curse. Merros snaps his head round with sudden alarm as he reaches out a hand to release a bolt of blinding white energy into the night. The would be attacker is sent flying backwards with a scream as Veldir and his men turn and run back toward the camp. Merros sends one of his men to examine the fallen attacker.
"He still lives." the guard calls back and Merros gives a grunt of acknowledgement.
"Have his wounds seen to, then put him in irons." the blue robed advisor orders before turning to another of his men, "Search the area there may be more of them hiding."
>>>Back at the Kings tent
Leif you see a flash of white light in the direction Sólmyrkvi travelled.
Two thoughts cross Leif’s mind. EitherSólmyrkvi has stumbled and is in trouble, or (more likely) the witch has broken free. He draws his cudgel and empowers it. He runs in the direction of the flash, dashing if needed. He makes no attempt at being silent.
The bonfire explodes into life... Merros...reaches out a hand to release a bolt of blinding white energy into the night...[and] sends one of his men to examine the fallen attacker. "He still lives." the guard calls back and Merros gives a grunt of acknowledgement. "Have his wounds seen to, then put him in irons." the blue robed advisor orders before turning to another of his men, "Search the area there may be more of them hiding."
Sólmyrkvi is pleased by the result of his spell, but he's surprised by the reaction from Merros. He's not sure whether Merros's arcane powers are a secret, but it's certainly news to Sólmyrkvi! When Merros directs his men to search the area, Sólmyrkvi feels his hair stand on end. He doesn't want to be discovered -- and possibly skewered in the dark! -- by Merros's men. And if he's captured here, the injured member of Veldir's gang might discover that he was the one who created the bonfire.
Thinking quickly, Sólmyrkvi decides that his best option is to put some more distance between himself and Merros's group. If he can sneak away and then circle around a little, he plans to run back "toward the commotion" as though he's running from the direction of the king's tent. As soon as he gets within about 30-ft of his bonfire again, he dismisses the spell.
If he spots Leifrunning up from the king's tent as he's moving back toward the camp, he will try to join Leif (without running right at him) and follow him back toward Merros and his men. As he first approaches Leif, he points toward the bonfire and says loudly, "I think it came from over there, Leif. By that fire! Hurry!" He wants to make sure that Leif knows that it's him and hopefully make it sound to Merros's men that he and Leif are just arriving on the scene.
Assuming all goes to plan, Sólmyrkvi will basically dash away with Stealth. Once he's about 40-ft farther away from Merros, he circles around a little, and runs back toward Merros and his men. If possible, he joins up with Leif, staying a little behind Leif and maybe 10-ft off to his side. That'll make it look more like a disorganized scramble in response to what happened.
Kora smiles as she reads the message. How cryptic, she thinks. But at least they say welcome? She hopes she isn't inviting a bad situation as she kneels down to respond to the message in her own druidic.
Me and a couple others will meet you at the trees SW of here at dawn. Or close to it, she thinks as she is overcome by another yawn. Happy with the message, she heads back towards the camp, finding her bedroll and sighing as she wedges herself inside. She closes her eyes and instantly falls asleep.
Sólmyrkvi you make your way back to meet Leif who is racing toward you. Stopping him you get him caught up and then both continue your journey toward Merros and the girl.
When you both get there the girl is nowhere to be seen, and Merros is speaking quietly with his men. The tent is pretty much complete and several more guards have been drawn in supposedly by the recent light show. One of them calls you both to halt as you approach.
"Let them through." Merros calls out with a wave of his hand, then giving you both a studied look he asks, "How can I help you?"
