The brutal and sharp movements of the badger remind Dahmeâdre of something, but once again canât seem to place. He slams the blunt of the glaive into the leaderâs side with a burst of searing light. His stance is rigid and unmoving. Each is aimed to not only harm, but to crush the weaknesses of those he is fighting. It is ruthless. However, it does indeed seem to be a high-risk form of combat, as he keeps missing.
The man, with a dislocated elbow from the looks of it, starts backing up. Heâll disengage and begin moving toward the door. âGah! You lot! Shove your boots down his throat already! Morons!â
Shankers 1 and 2: Attack: 19 Damage: 5 slashing damage and Attack: 13 Damage: 3 slashing damage
The tough hide of the badger and its skillful movements deflect many of the blows, except for one blade that slams into his thigh. The young goon has a brief moment of triumph, which quickly fades when he sees the looming gaze of the martial artist.
Dahme'dre seems to be little more than a dustraction. Her failing annoys her and the plates an glasses rattle on the table as she growls. She tries again to quickly get a grip on the Leader Binding him (Wis DC 13), as she fires another Blast of her patron's power, hitting 7 (dis/adv. 9) for 6 (if crit: +3) force. (Stepping within 5 feet of the target to insure a crit, if the first spell succeeds.)
(I guess she should have tried to be more supportivevrather than trying to end it quickly)
As heâs walking, his body locks up, and you hear the faint groaning of a man unable to move experiencing intense frustration. However, the blast seems to fizzle. Perhaps Dahmeâdre just doesnât desire to seriously injure the man.
The chimera continues his silent onslaught. He targets an uninjured foe first, then clips any thug that looks close enough to unconsciousness for a butt from his pole.
The glaive slams into the back of the brawlerâs head, sending him stumbling forward off balance. However, he has no time to react as the badger slams the butt of his glaive into the gut of the brawler, knocking the wind out of him.
It is around now that the two other goons disengage and start backing up. The injured brawler shouts at them, âWhere are you going! Help me!â Heâs going to throw two blind swings at the chimera.
Attack: 17 Damage: 7 bludgeoning damage and Attack: 19 Damage: 3 bludgeoning damage. Both land, but once again, the hide of the beast man is incredibly durable.
Meanwhile, the statue man: Wis Save: 19. He regains his movement and swings toward Dee, âThatâs it, bullocks to this! Stay out of it!â
(As a free action, not intending to spend my action on persuade:)
Addressing his large opponent, the chimera speaks in a soft and terribly polite rumble as he gestures to his stripe, "You have seen my mark. You know that I am Kaist- why fight me? Even should you win, Kirkgrim's shadows will take you."
The man, winded and clearly regretting his choice to stand and fight you, wipes his mouth in a haggard posture, âHah... hah... mate, donât matter what you are to me... Youâve got no clue who youâre dealing with. You think Kirkgrim can even touch us? We own this city, the rest of you just donât know it yet...â
"Do you have any idea who you're dealing with?" Dahme'dre asks rhetorically, holding a hand to the gash in her shoulder from the man's attack. (That save is actually at the end of his turn, not the begining, but I'll take it.)
She glares at him "Don't miss your chance to escape with your friends"and your life! The dissonant chord presses against him, dealing 11 Psychic damage, and inciting his departure. (Wis save DC 13 for half)
The badger cocks his head at that. "Kirkgrim may not be able to touch you," he says quietly, spinning his glaive for the windup, "But it seems that I can." The blade whistles through the air as the flat connects with the brawler's face.
The second brawler also brings up his arms to block, which unfortunately leaves him open to a swift blow below the belt with end the of your halberd. There is a sharp and high-pitched inhalation of air before the brawler collapses. Yeah... he wonât be getting up for a bit.
Meanwhile, the other two Shankers make a run for the door.
Dahmeâdreâs turn if she wishes, but combat is effectively over.
The badger stands over his (surprisingly challenging) foe. The syrupy golden stripe surrounds him for another moment, then fades away as the last of the toughs escape into the street outside. He sighs heavily, sagging a bit against his glaive, then sets the weapon against the wall. He binds the hands and feet of the two unconscious men. He rifles through their pockets for the gold they owe, plus (hopefully) a fair amount more for the damages to the shop. Looking up, he notices Dahme'dre and her wounds.
Without a word, he tosses the mage a clean linen napkin from a nearby table.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dahme'dre catches the rag thrown toward her, but she just sets it aside. With a puff of magic she cleans herself up. "Let me take a look at those wounds" she says, "Sorry, I tried to help, but it seems you had this situation well in hand." She waves a hand, and and heals he beast-man's wounds with a Word.
After she's examined the badger she checks the attackers to ensure they don't expire before the reach their cell. (Medicine: (4)39)
The badger stares mutely at Dahme'dre, confused. Most people don't address him conversationally, and he's certainly never heard an apology directed at him before. As the mage's healing magic knits his wounds together, he looks up in alarm- that's another first. He's far from fully healed, but... interesting.
After a moment, he waves her apology away with his oversized paw, "You acted correctly: you saw four men sowing imbalance and you sought to right the scales." He looks around at the ruined tavern. Gold or no, his employer will not be best pleased with the results of this little scuffle. It was sloppy, inefficient. Plus, all of the patrons left. The badger lets out a heavy sigh; he'll have to find a new job. Again.
He honors Dahme'dre with the bao quan, then begins picking up the place. The shadows (or even the Corps) should have been around by now... Where could they be?
He glances over at the mage as he works. "Let me know if they begin to stir. I would know more about this group to which they claim allegiance."
Dahmeâdre, as you are examining the wounds of your attackers, you find that both men are stable. It would seem that the âleaderâ was able to resist it enough that he was only knocked unconscious. Furthermore, you see that on both menâs wrists, there is a peculiar tattoo. It seems to be a fairly simple design of a hammer that says âBloodright.â From your knowledge, it is totally mundane.
