Although I think it will be in our best interest to wait and take a long rest before continuing our work, we may need to take the initiative and pursue the Hobgoblins to save the hostages, namely our merchant friend. These jerk ass Hobgoblins would be the ones to kill a hostage just because they are getting beat.
"Get out of the way, Jeremy," Pagan yells pulling the Fighter (Javon) out of the line of fire.
Javon
Javon does not resist the dragonborn's pull and is content to recover his breath and senses in the safe corner.
Hobgoblins
Zerys and Brumdal see the hobgoblins turn and burst into a sprint down the dark passageway. They quickly lose sight of them, but realize they couldn't be that far ahead.
Zerys will move cautiously down the corridor hugging the wall immediately to her left in an attempt to let the cave shape provide some cover. She'll shout what she sees back to the group ready to hurl flames if a target avails itself.

The passage you enter is roughly wide enough for two people ro fight side by side. It follows an irregular path bending to your right. You cannot see your prey ahead of you, but you can hear their rapid footfalls echoing down the passageway.
I assume you are using your darkvision and will wait to cast your spell so as not to give off any light.
Markas will head into the tunnel, bow at the ready, and see if he can close some distance to the hobgoblins. If he doesn't exhaust his entire movement with... moving, then he'll shoot at any of the fleeing hobgoblins that come within range.

You make it to where Zerys is if you don’t dash, both of you hugging the left wall.
If you dash you can make it to a point where the passage turns left where there is a corner you can peer around.
Pagan eyes Javon. "You may want to sit this one out, or at least try to present less of a target." He then turns an dashes down the hallway after the party.

Javon
Javon "heeds" the advice of Pagan following him with his bow in one hand and torch in the other, but stopping in the back rank of the party when they both reach them.
Hobgoblins
You hear the running stop, and then you hear some shouting up ahead in Goblin.
Zerys scolds Amar for his poor understanding of Goblin, "Next time you'll listen right?" She'll move up across from Pagan to get a better view down the hall. I don't believe she'll need to dash to be in that position. Again if there's a target she'll hurl flames.
Markas will move down the hall and if it's all clear around the next bend keep going. If he catches sight of a hobgoblin, he'll shoot an arrow at them. Otherwise he'll exhaust this round with movement.

Zerys makes to the next corner (passed Pagan) and cautiously peeks around the corner:
Brumdal
Pagan
Javon
Hobgoblins
Round 5
@Zerys, you are up!
Zerys will move cautiously down the corridor hugging the wall immediately to her left in an attempt to let the cave shape provide some cover. She'll shout what she sees back to the group ready to hurl flames if a target avails itself.

I'm going to make a wisdom check on this one even though Markas usually would throw caution to the wind (pretty much a coin toss): 3
Oh yeah, he dashes.
LOL.
You dash and from your new vantage point you see the passage continues maybe 20 feet then bends slightly right for 15-ish feet then bends back left.
You clearly hear the running feet of the hobgoblins just around that last bend.
@Zerys, if you want to also dash to Markas’s position that’s fine.
@Amar, your turn.
Brumdal is going to continue to dash after the party, muttering about how he is wasted on cross-country...
... very dangerous over short distances you dwarves are...
Zerys, curses the fool, and dashes along side. Where's Pagan, she thinks.
Amar, recognizing order is slipping away rushes to the Markas, Zerys duo (dashing if needed) ready to blast some frost as needed.
Amar
Brumdal
Cutting the corners Brumdal is able to keep up with Zerys, Markas, and Amar who were all following the cave walls.
@Pagan, your turn!
Pagan eyes Javon. "You may want to sit this one out, or at least try to present less of a target." He then turns an dashes down the hallway after the party.
Pagan
Javon
Hobgoblins
Amar's Perception check to listen ... 7
Amar is not too sure what all the hub-bub is about....
Round 6
@Zerys, your turn.
Also if you want to strategize and swap order in initiative that's fine too (like if someone wants to take point).
Zerys scolds Amar for his poor understanding of Goblin, "Next time you'll listen right?" She'll move up across from Pagan to get a better view down the hall. I don't believe she'll need to dash to be in that position. Again if there's a target she'll hurl flames.

Zerys
Zerys makes to the next corner (passed Pagan) and cautiously peeks around the corner:
Perception: 10
Stealth: 19
Zerys has at least two-thirds cover peering around the corner so her AC is effectively 19.
Attack Roll: 9
