Also the only benefit from combat going faster is combat going faster, because even though Wes and I are doing mostly improv, we do have a plot in mind, and there’s not gonna be specific time set away for combat, it’s just gonna be following the plot.

Agreed; thanks Naner! We’re still figuring everything out, so we’ll see how things turn out, but it’s probably groups at this rate. 

I think we’ll keep up the ‘Recruiting’ tag until the end of the weekend to pick up any remaining stragglers and give people time to submit characters. Deadline is now Monday, May 4th at 9PM EST.

Name: Dae Min, but her first name is Min, in traditional Korean style. 5’ 9”, Female, 134 lbs, 1,290 years old, Auburn hair, green eyes, pale skin, earrings, studded leather armour over form-fitting clothes that let her fight quickly.

Backstory: Min is a Gumiho, a race of fox people that are known as trickster spirits and generally mistrusted. It’s said they’ve been in the world as long as time has, and they are known to be cunning and sly. Min comes from the Dae line of Gumiho, who recently immigrated from the Feywild a couple millennia ago (nothing for Gumiho, who can live for millions of years). Min was born and raised here in Kaskalan, away from most other peoples in the high north mountains. She lived through the fall, and their clan suffered relatively few losses compared to the rest of the world. Recently, she set off on her own journey to find an adventure, haunted by these dreams and memories that are not her own, and has made her way here under no small amount of difficulty.

Backstory:

Peanut grew up in a tiny farming village known only as a stop along the south road, where her family cultivated peanuts and little else. She wasn’t especially clever, quick with numbers, or good under pressure—but she worked hard, kept her head down, and tried to be kind. That was enough for a quiet life. When the strange dreams began—of failing crops, cracked earth, and something wrong beneath it all—she hoped they meant nothing. But then the rains stopped, the livestock vanished, and the dragon came.

With no warriors or heroes to call upon, the village made a desperate choice: someone would go up the mountain with an offering and hope to appease the beast. Peanut’s name was drawn. She didn’t argue—just packed what little she had and carried a sack of peanuts, because that’s what the village could offer.

By the time she reached the dragon’s cavern, she was shaking and barely able to speak. She offered the sack. The dragon ate the peanuts… and then something went horribly wrong. It convulsed, choked, and collapsed. Peanut didn’t know what to do. The dragon’s servants who had ushered her in were still there, and she didn’t know what they might do if they thought she had killed their master. Acting on instinct, she grabbed a gleaming suit of armor from the hoard and forced it on. Remarkably, it fit her perfectly. Somehow, that was enough to let her walk back out of the cavern alive.

When she returned, the village called her a hero. No matter how she tried to explain, the story grew into something grander: that she had faced the dragon, endured its wrath, and slain it herself.

Now the world expects more from her. Noble families call for her aid, and whispers of greater threats spread alongside the shared nightmares plaguing the land. Peanut doesn’t feel like a hero—she feels like a farmer who got lucky and put on armor she doesn’t understand. Sometimes, when danger rises, something answers her call from within it—a steady, guiding presence she doesn’t quite question. She only knows she wants to go home… but the world keeps putting a sword in her hand instead.

also maybe you could make a Google doc of your character? I know it's a pain to do but it's probably easier in the long run for both you and the DM's because you can keep track of your racial abilities that way (if you don't want to make it I totally can when I have spare time)
