If I light up the bushes, they can backlight the bandits or gobbos.  Nothing like firing at night targets that are back lit.

 *Totally agree with that logic, but don’t forget: you are all arranged near a campfire. The fire provides 30 feet of bright light; the moon is bright enough to provide dim light for any relevant ranged combat (i.e. at least 120 feet, given Eldritch Blast and Fire Bolt)*

Rest comes in shallow stretches for Lethira. Her scale mail shifts awkwardly beneath rough blankets, and boots meant for marching were never intended to be worn through the night. Still, given the reason she finds herself sleeping beside a roadside fire instead of safely back at the Copper Kettle, she judges it wiser to keep both on. Just in case......
So when Mia’s whistle cuts sharply through the darkness, Lethira is already moving before the last word fully leaves her mouth.

Then fire blooms against the night.

Orange light erupts suddenly from the nearby brush. Lethira rises immediately from her bedroll, one hand already closing around the handle of her mace while her eyes adjust to the shifting firelight. Her attention moves first to Mia, then toward the burning brush beyond the edge of camp.

*No problem; that’s why we play by post: post when you can. 

Summary of the past few posts: The first few night watch’s against danger are uneventful, but partway through Mia’s second shift, she noticed some suspicious shrubbery. Upon further investigation, it turns out that the shrubberies are disguises; probably for bandits (a total of 8)
