CHAPTER ONE - A FRIEND IN NEED PART TWO - THE STREETS OF WATERDEEP BLOOD IN THE STREETS (EW!)
FC last saw Floon outside the Skewed Dragon, a dubious tavern between Net Street and Fillet Lane in the Dock Ward. As you turn a corner, you find yourselves on a street that has been cordoned off by the City Watch. Lying on the cobblestones are a half-dozen corpses, seemingly the victims of some terrible skirmish. Watch officers have disarmed and arrested three blood-drenched humans and are in the midst of questioning witnesses. One of the officers sees you. “Get on,” she says. “Nothing to see here.”
Lythril uses her amazing powers of observation to see if she can spot any clues. She then saunters over to the guardsman, tosses her hair and says, "Hello pretty boy, what's going on over there? Did you get hurt?.... Thank you for keeping us all safe." *Batting eyes, clenched hands pushing cleavage together.*

Astrid quietly stands behind FC, observing the crime scene with her trained eye. Any conclusions she draws, such that she can impress the boss with her amazing deductive reasoning skills?
The guardsman looks at Lythril for moment, his eyes darting from your heaving chest to your eyes and back again. "I'm fine, thank you, ma'am." He says, smiling slightly, trying to remain professional in front of the other guards. "Just your typical gang fight, it seems. Can't say much more, i'm afraid. City business."
Astrid, with her keen eye, can tell that this was NOT your typical gang fight, for these were not gang members.
There are about a dozen city watch guards detaining the three remaining thugs. A wagon pulls up as the group observes the city watch in action, and as you all pass by, the three men the city watch have arrested look at you all coldly - their hands above their heads and stripped weaponless. Out of the wagon comes out a man and a woman who are dressed in leathers and trenchcoats and look different than the city guard. More refined, educated..dangerous.
The woman walks around the cart, wobbling a little bit as if she's had a few drinks, and gives an enormous exasperated groan looking over the scene. "Really?!" She shouts at the man she came with, clearly very annoyed. "This is what he wanted us to check on?!" The City Watch guards stand at attention at their arrival, and say nothing, waiting for the exchange to finish. The woman sighs and starts taking a look around. "SO beneath us.." She mumbles. The man smiles and takes out a small notepad, writing down notes and looking at the scene.
"Yes, I know.." The man says, almost laughing but still writing and looking around. "But this might be a good lead on Xanathar."
The woman looks at Astrid for a moment, her eyes, an impossible bright blue, narrowing, as if saying What the hell are you looking at.

Azreael cursed softly, realizing that in the confusion and the fight, he'd forgotten to speak with the half-Orc after all was said and done. He figured if he was meant to see her again, he would, and it would all be as it should be. Azrael had kept stride easily and caught up with the rest of the group swiftly with his lengthy stride.
Eventually, the group would come upon the scene of what appeared to be a grisly fight. Much like a few of the others, he let his eyes scan over the scene, seeing if he could spot any clues as to who the people were, thinking that perhaps they might be associated with the group that was there earlier, or another group all together.
ASTRID: With a 10, it's a little fuzzy, but you can make out some sort of public identification they're wearing on their coat pocket as they walk around the scene. The woman's says "PERKINS" and the man's says "CALLOWAY". The woman is visibly annoyed and thinks this job is beneath her, but the man happily puts up with her attitude and does his job. They ignore any adventurers or civilians passing by, and occasionally talk to themselves now and again, looking over the suspects.
The city guards make another attempt to wave you all along. But the one guard whom Lythril was speaking to has a dreamy look on his face. He snaps to attention as his superior gives him a glare.
Azrael notices Lythril now, and taps her on the shoulder, saying I am as curious as you as to what happened here, but I'd rather not be arrested for being curious, what happened a few minutes ago? That was defense of another turned into self-defense, but they might arrest us if we lull around too long and impede whatever it is they are doing. If Bahamut wills it, we will have a chance to find out more at another time.
With that, Azrael would fall back, his hulking form moving back to wherever FC was and waiting for him to continue.

With the grace of a cat, Pheral climbs very stealthily up a nearby rooftop to see if she can get a better view of the scene. From what you can see up there, it looks like about 9 bodies have been viciously dispatched by melee weapons. The bodies are lacerated, punctured and there's blood everywhere. The last 3 survivors previously mention have been caught and are away from the crime scene.
Secret roll: 19 Secret roll: 24
The male investigator has no idea you're up on the roof, but the woman investigator looks around your general direction for a few moments thinking she saw or heard something - but doesn't see you. Barely. You probably won't be so lucky a second time, and there's no telling what might happen if you get caught up there.
FC saunters up to a guard who's more positioned on the fringe of the scene.
"Long night eh, Boss? **** me, what a scene. My brofer was on the force too ya know? So I understand how seeing this day in, day out can affect ya. (Deception 21) Mate, I don't s'pose you saw a guy in his thirties, long, reddish blonde 'air get caught up in this? Friend of mine I was sposed to meet up wif tonight, yea? ... what even went on here, cobber?" Persuasion for small talk: 23
Insight 9 just to see if he holds back info or whatnot.
He gives you a wary look, and says, "Yeah, no kidding, eh? But, no, sorry, can't say that I have seen a fellow of that description." He thinks for a moment more. "Come to think of it, Old Xoblob's always in his shop. He might have seen or heard something. It's just down the road." He points. With that, he clams up and keeps guard, gently edging you away from the scene. With a nat20 insight roll, he is telling the truth and that's all he, or really, any of the guards know. "Go on, now." The two investigators are too busy looking at the bodies to be bothered answering any questions, or be called over.
The female investigator looks up, and says, "HEY." to the adventuring group. "We're trying to work here. Scram!"
FC looks the detective right in the eye and calls out to the others.
"Let's not trouble these fine detectives any more, gang." He turns, taking a lead down the street and mumbles to whoever happens to be around him. "This dog's gotta scent."
FC nods at Pheral slowly in recogition of his fine scouting work. Once they're out of earshot, FC addresses the group. "Interested in what 'appened back there, was we? Keen to follow some ofer lead for the... "greater good" were we?
His eyes flare with a slight reddish glow.
"I just paid youse all wif ten gold pieces to find a missin' person, not to go 'elping the pigs do their ******* job. Why woz I the only one to inquire about Floon?!" He visibly takes a beat to calm himself. He clasps his hands together before re-opening his arms in a welcoming stretch.
"Let's not dwell on that, shall we? I 'ave a lead that an ol' geezer down 'ere in his shop may have seen somefin. Xoblob I fink we goes by."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Azrael seemed relieved that they were likely no longer going to pester the watch at their business without overall better reasons than curiosity. Ironically enough he felt FC was about the only one with a good reason to bother them, but even that had turned up very little, but it had turned up something, and with that Azrael prepared to set out.
In response to FC's words, he would say in his defense I wasn't sure how involved you would want them. So I chose the path of silence rather than inquiry.
He did, however say, to no one in particular in the group I am truly surprised though that none of them made a fuss about me. I've never been to this area of the town before, so I figured I should get ready for some shocked expressions! or somesuch. a mirthful laugh coming from him before he settled back into his stoic silence, padding along.
This will be my last post for the day until after work.
However I will pre-post a bit if we do make it there.
Once inside either the Skewered Dragon, or the Shop mentioned by the officer, Azrael would immediately glance around the room to see if there was anythign out of order in the shop, or if perhaps, there was anything special there that would otherwise go un-noticed.
Mmmm how was I supposed to find anything out about your friend? Lythril thinks you can’t just pop the girls and ask hey where’s Floon in the next sentence.
I know I look like country girl, it would be out of place for me NOT to stop and be nosy...ah well Fat Cat is the boss...
Keeping her thoughts to herself she followed in the wake of the group miffed and shamed at the same time.

CHAPTER ONE - A FRIEND IN NEED PART TWO - THE STREETS OF WATERDEEP OLD XOBLOB SHOP or "POP THE GOILS AND ASK ABOUT FLOON"
Tall, densely packed tenements leave most of the neighborhood in shadow at ground level. Most of the streetlamps have had their glass smashed and their candles stolen, and the smells of salt air and excrement linger as you pass by rows of run-down buildings. On the corner of Zastrow Street and Fillet Lane is a shop with a peculiar window display. It stands out from the others. It has a deep purple facade, and in its window hangs a stuffed beholder. Above the door hangs a sign whose elaborate letters spell out “Old Xoblob Shop.”
A cloud of lavender-scented purple smoke trails out of the shop’s door as you peer inside. Every wall is painted purple, and every dusty knickknack on the shelves is dyed a deep violet. The hairless old gnome sitting cross-legged on the counter wears plum-colored robes. His cheeks are decorated with nine purple face-painted eyes. The gnome lowers a pipe and exhales a cloud of lavender smoke before raising a hand. “Hail and well met! Come browse the shelves of the most curious curiosity shop in the world!”
From where the shop is currently, you can actually see within walking distance the Skewered Dragon.
