Emeny channels the holy majesty of St. Cuthbert and although the initial attack seemed off, a divine light guides the flame true!
The zombie ogre is gouged all over, pouring a sticky black red ichor all around. Bones stick out in jagged knobs. Bits of gore are dropping all over those nearby.
With one final, unholy groan, the evil beast BURSTS into flames brought down upon it by Emeny and her deity.
The undead corpse flops over in in a pile of goo, it is truly dead now.
All of you have done well thus far in defending Bittborg and helping each other.
Now you all stare across the field at a throng of shadowy kobolds dancing and shouting in terrible sounds around a huge shadow dragon that sits draped comfortably in darkness.
The fissure to the Underdark is just behind where the dragon and its small army are cavorting.
As you ponder how to deal with this situation, all of you now ascend to level 2.
(I am keeping track of what yall are doing and throwing in bonux XP here and there as I see fit. If anybody has issues with leveling let me know ;) )
I'm much more a fan of milestone type XP gain BUT I am keeping track of some points just when it comes to building some encounters. I feel like everybody is RPing very well and that deserves recognition as well. If you are about to take on the Underdark, too, some extra HP is gonna be important.
Barxik is now covered with a mix of dark red ichor, decaying guts, and black goo as a result of the ogre zombie bursting and flopping to the ground next to him. He tries to wipe off the ogre's remains but the stench and smell clings to his body, some of it even through his armor. He eventually gives up and takes a small prayer.
"May Ilmater grant me the strength to endure such foul incidents."
He looks at the shadow dragon and the legion of kobolds surrounding it.
"We should move around the dragon and try to be inconspicuous as we trek towards the fissure. Even I don't think we could muscle our way through that just by their sheer numbers."
Ironwall: "Or I can distract it while you all make your way. If you can end this nightmare, then Gilborg and Brittborg will both be safe and I will rest easy."
I clean some of the zombie ogre muck off of my blade and armor. "I will haunt all of your families if you fail, though."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Bartimaeus searches the ogre's entrails 18 he says over his shoulder "Sneaky first, goliath plan b, though I disagree with sacrificing oneself, it is your life to do with as you please."
Vappa leaps from the second story window and lands next to Ironwall, glaring up at him. "...Do not joke of death..."he hisses, undoing his bandanna. The other lizard took the words right out of his mouth, and simply nods in agreement.
Ironwall: I sling my battleaxe casually over my shoulder. "If they spot even one of us, then we fight, possibly to the death. If you would not have me as the distraction, then what?"
" Bartimaeus suggests we vote, one way to sneak, one to fight here. If we fight , we make choke point with debris, arrows on roofs, beaters on ground."
"We should attempt a conversation with the dragon before we fight if they happen to see us. Let's hope for the best as we try to move quietly towards the fissure."
"...Outnumbered...prey is unknown power...streets not safe..." Vappa mumbles to himself. It felt slightly better that the others weren't too sure what to make of this. Slightly. As sure as he was of his own skills, Vappa wasn't prepared to fight an army. "...Shadows are safest..."

and I will put them to good use, like on traps, in drinks, perhaps even attempting some substance abuse, you know, the usual
Nothing like a little extracurricular organ liquification to take the edge off.
Nox can go next, forgot to mention that on my turn.
Nothing like it. Now, back to that ogre...

"Not all those who wander are lost."
AWWWwwwwWWWW YEAAAAH
We're doing points then?

so am I, a fan of milestones I mean, totally not keeping a list of people to eat
Do we roll for new HP or take a standard bump?

"If they want a fight we should give it to them in streets, not here in this field. I'd much rather take a horde like that with a wall at my back."
I approach the zombie ogre's corpse (stepping through the gore without care) and poke around with my spear to make sure it has stopped moving.
Bartimaeus decides to take a quick bite of the ogre's flesh when no one is looking
