Disclaimer: This isn’t a classic game or even a classic PBP either. It doesn’t involve a quest, more like character interactions where each character has a secret goal (based on a writing game I once played). I decided to put it in PBP as forum games and adohands are not very popular, but mods can move it if they would like (I’d prefer for it to be moved to forum games). I would also like to say that I am not the best at running games, but as this is more of a tavern-esque type thing, you can have higher expectations of me, as I am better at those. I am also part of the LGBTQ+ community, and many of my NPCs/characters will be too, so I ask that you are at the very least indifferent towards my community.
A young necromancer recently inherited a palace after emerging as a general in a long war. Atlas, the necromancer, somehow knows your characters (please put why in your applications), and you have been invited to stay at the palace. In the letter you received, he tells you that you must complete a goal for him and be the last one who hasn’t had your goal guessed. It’s rather cryptic, but you can assume it’s a game of some sort, where a few people have been grouped together and each have been assigned a goal. If your goal has been guessed by someone else, you do not receive a reward, and if your goal is completed and you are the last person who hasn’t had your goal guessed, you receive a reward (reward will be player specific. Goals and rewards will be PMed to the players).
Every day (days will not move normally, I will decide when the next day comes) there will be a competition to add to the DnD aspect. Each competition will have a reward relating to the greater game (an example would be a free yes or no question that must be answered honestly.) There may be PvP if your goal involves getting something from someone else/hurting someone else, but please let me know in your application if you do not want PvP and I will make sure to respect that. There may also be encounters, but usually only in competitions/if your characters want to explore.
As this is different from a normal dnd game, I’d like to take 4-10 characters. Characters will use the ruleset you’d like to use, 2014 or 2024, but you cannot mix and match. Please let it be noted that I do not have the books for 2024. I also request that you do not use AI for your character. Characters will start at level 3, using rolled stats. I will not take more than 10 characters unless more than 10 are absolutely outstanding.
To apply, please post your character sheet in my thread and post details like name and backstory in my thread/PMs if you’d like to keep them a secret. It’d probably be best to keep them a secret to be honest, might help you obscure your goal better. Let me know your preferences on combat, style, and let me know why Atlas invited you. Feel free to ask me questions about the world, but if you’d like, you can just make stuff up and I’ll tell you if it doesn’t work.
That’s about it! Feel free to put character sheets on other things, like a doc or paper, just make sure I can see it. I do not have any books on dnd beyond for the record. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE’S ANYTHING I FORGOT. Oh, no magic items. Also deception and insight are not a thing except for against NPCs, I don’t want y’all rolling for that stuff, you have to figure out if people are lying by what they say and what they’ve said before.

Ronin knows this young necromancer because he has used her for information before, she was a spy, thief, and anything else for him. So when she was called to his new palace, she was not surprised, for she had a feeling he would do big things even if she has never met him face to face.

Nach is… an enigma. He hails from the frozen tundras to the North, where he was raised for most of his life. He’s come to be known as a skilled bounty hunter, marksman, and assassin, yet still retaining his sense of honour. He’s done jobs for Atlas, including the capture of one of his rivals, in the past, and is well known in the region.

Albus Fionn was one of the clerics that worked alongside Atlas during the war. Albus saved the lives of the wounded soliders and Atlas used the corpses of the fallen enemies to use them to fight. The necromancer argued that using the enemies corpses was "the best way to prevent their soldiers from dieing" and that "their enemy's bodies could be of use for more than war and the decay of the land".
In spite of Atlas's usage of the dead for battle wasn't something Albus particularly liked, they became friends. They had friendly discussions about necromancy and their uses, conversations about the value of life, and many things of similar topics.
Now, Albus was called to his palace for some sort of "game". Odd, but not something THAT unheard of, so Albus decided to go.
When Kian was invited to Atlas' new palace, he was slightly shocked and far more curious. Kian is a druid of the forests, protecting them and their creatures. He believes that no reason is a sufficient excuse to injure the wilds. This caused a confrontation with Atlas, who believed that war was a reasonable excuse. Since their initial encounter, they have discussed ethics many times and become, if not friends, certainly friendly acquaintances. However, he had not expected Atlas to invite him, and decided the journey was worth it to find out.
