Harshnag shakes his head in response to Rixton's question. "I have not, but I do have some knowledge of what lies within. I know nothing, unfortunately, of these traps."
I look hesitantly at the others, then shoo them to step back a bit. Once they are a good 10 feet farther back, I step back myself a good five feet or so, then toss my poor, trodden blanket beneath the trap.
Rixton's blanket (and Vigan's makeshift toboggan) lands on the floor directly beneath the first massive slab of stone that hangs overhead. Nothing happens.
They just ran right through. I muse out lout, but turn to face our giant companion. "Maybe this is a trap designed for giants? Who would the giants prefer to keep out, Harshnag? Other giants or the small races?"
He then peers upward, studying the stone slabs. "It is a guess, Rixton, but the hatred between the giants of old and the chromatic dragons is well known. This trap would slow a dragon, no?"
I look at the trap with a critical eye. "It seems quite possible," I say. "In which case, we smaller races, at least, may be too light to trigger the trap. To be safe, we should cross the traps one at a time. That way only one of us is in danger at any time."
To prove my point, I dart across the first trap space, snatching up my blanket as I go.
"Not particularly sure I want to head towards the grunting men down the way there but what the hell". Andor dashes off too after Rixton crossing the first danger zone as quickly as possible.
Ladrian studies the blocks hanging high above the corridor floor, and he looks for some indication of what might trigger the blocks to drop. He is unable to come to any definitive conclusion.
"Possibly they are not traps at all,"remarks Harshnag. "They could serve as a means to seal off an enemy's access to the Eye. I do not know."
"Andor, is the mechanism magical in nature, can you check for such things ?"
He stands now with Vigan and the Giant, another great title for an adventure novel he mused. If this is done by weight or for large creatures such as dragons there is a slim chance Vigan could set them off. He places the iron spike back into his pack and takes the Spell Scroll, jump, he acquired in Nightstone into his hand.
Harshnag decides to test his theory. Keeping his eyes riveted to the stone blocks above, he runs 60' ahead, passing safely under both of them.
Andor and Rixton, because they've moved slightly farther down the huge hallway, can see a few additional features not previously visible. On either side of the hall is a ledge that stands 20' above the floor.
NOTE: Ignore the east-west line that cuts grid squares 5 - 19 in half.
I jog across the second trap space to join Harshnag. There, I pull out my rope and grappling hook. I look at Harshnag and say, "Should I climb up to that ledge or can you possibly lift me up there?" I point to the north ledge.
Moving to join the others, the gloom of the tunnel surrounds Vigan as he heads further in. "Do we let those ahead finish their task, or should we give them a hand?"

Rixton's blanket (and Vigan's makeshift toboggan) lands on the floor directly beneath the first massive slab of stone that hangs overhead. Nothing happens.
Rixton:
"Damn," I say to nobody in particular. "I was really hoping it would be that easy."
I think for a minute. "This might not be a trap for us small people."
I investigate the tracks that Carrow and Vigan were studying. How did they bypass this area before us?
Investigation: 15
The tracks of all eight humans lead directly through the area in question and disappear into the darkness about 60' ahead.

They just ran right through. I muse out lout, but turn to face our giant companion. "Maybe this is a trap designed for giants? Who would the giants prefer to keep out, Harshnag? Other giants or the small races?"
Harshnag responds with one word. "Dragons."
He then peers upward, studying the stone slabs. "It is a guess, Rixton, but the hatred between the giants of old and the chromatic dragons is well known. This trap would slow a dragon, no?"

Rixton sprints forward and crosses the area that lies directly beneath the first block of stone. His movement triggers nothing.
Ladrian
"Why would there be human tracks here? Isn't it odd?" Ladrian asks
As if on cue, additional sounds of human grunting and groaning reach the adventurers' ears. The sound is faint but unmistakable.
Andor
"Not particularly sure I want to head towards the grunting men down the way there but what the hell". Andor dashes off too after Rixton crossing the first danger zone as quickly as possible.

Just as Rixton had done, Andor sprints underneath the first trap without incident.
Ladrian
"Wait! Careful with possible traps!" He looks with attention where Andor is running for signs of traps and their nature.

Ladrian follows Rixton in the jog moving to where the giant is.

Moving to join the others, the gloom of the tunnel surrounds Vigan as he heads further in. "Do we let those ahead finish their task, or should we give them a hand?"
