Andor touches a sconce with an open flame, causing a spectral fire to appear above the sconce. This flame sheds light and heat like a normal torch, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the archway and the mist.
Harshnag strokes his beard and walks around the temple, apparently lost in thought. He picks up the enormous mithral spear that lies in the hands of the statue of Memnor, God of the Cloud Giants. "Each weapon in this temple is free to be wielded. Maybe nothing more is needed than for a giant to pass through the mist while holding one of these giant weapons."
The frost giant tests his hypothesis and walks into the mist while holding Memnor's spear. His effort is foiled as he walks directly into the cold, stone wall hidden by the mist.
Meanwhile, Rixton quickly learns that one man would need at least an hour, while using the proper tools, to break the ice from the doors that lead north and south from the temple room.
"You mentioned something about the ordning Harshnag" Ladrian says looking at the runes "And you said that one meant frost giants. Maybe we need to interact with them in a certain order?"

"Yes, the runes might have a part to play in this, Ladrian,"responds Harshnag.
The frost giant, still gripping Memnor's mithral spear, approaches the archway once again. Rather than attempting to walk through the mist-filled portal, Harshnagreaches down with an open hand and touches the Ise (frost giant) rune. Almost immediately a gloom fills the room and multiple ice storms materialize, one over each member of the party. A violent hail of rock-hard ice begins to pelt everyone, regardless of where he stands in the temple.
(7 bludgeoning damage + 17 cold damage, the total of which can be halved on a successful DC 15 Dex saving throw)
DEX save for Harshnag: 16; all players can include their saving throws in their next post.
The ice storm subsides, and Harshnag shakes his head in disgust. He angrily mutters something under his breath in Giant which Carrow and Vigan understand to be a fine bit of profanity.
Although caught unawares the cold seems to harm Andor far less than it might have.
"I've lit them all, I don't think it matters, except it is brighter. So.... Either touching the rune needs the right weapon or their is a sequence. I don't like the idea of trial and error if that is going to happen every time though. Maybe we could explore, see if we can find the Frost Giant's weapon? I could probably melt through these doors quite quickly with a spell, shall I try it?"
The temple room is brighter as spectral flames hover above all four sconces. Illumination, however, is the only thing the flames offer. They do not effect the mist-filled portal in any way.

"Harshnag, you are holding the cloud giant's spear but touched the frost giant's rune. Perhaps touch the rune while holding the associated weapon. That doesn't help us much, not knowing the runes."
I investigate the runes, trying to remember where I have read of them to see if I can recognize any.
History: 24
I don't recognize them at all. They probably would be in Korryl's Catalog of Runes but I've never read it. Maybe the statues are marked with them. I investigate for any hint as to which statue matches which rune.
"Well, we either guess the runes or we follow Andor's suggestion and try to work our way through the doors. Harshnag, is creating an ice barrier like this something a frost giant is capable of? I wonder if a frost giant is already here or has visited here recently. If so, it might explain the ice and the missing weapon."

Carrow
Dex 14
Perplexed by the nature of what is going on, Carrow was never one for puzzles, he felt as though he needed to contribute. Taking one of the Greataxes from Vigan he approaches the northern door still rigid. He begins to hack at the ice for a few seconds before considering lighting a fire. Taking his tinder box and flint he sets it down and looks for anything he can burn before continuing his assault on the door.
Survival: 7
OOC Being able to like a fire or no Carrow will continue to hack at the Ice with the greataxe.
"Ok, let's get this moving. Stand back ladies, this is going to get warm." Drawing deep Andor feels flame roaring inside him, as it builds he exhales a fiery blast against the southern set of doors, as the ice begins to melt he repeats it again and again for a minute until the spell burns out in him. He then stands back surveying his handiwork.
Standing back panting, sweat beading at his temples, Carrow watches to see if the sorcerer's efforts bear fruit. Between breaths, and smiling at his friends display of power, he calls to Andor "Don't expend yourself in these tasks my friend, we may yet need your talents beyond these doors"
Verifying damage from the ice storm: Andor 12 | Carrow 16 | Ladrian 8 | Rixton 8 | Vigan 8
WIth a combination of Carrow's axe work and Andor's spell, the ice is removed from a set of doors to the north. They lead into an open area with ascending sets of stairs to the east and west, and to the north there's a 40' wide, 60' high hallway that slopes upward. Like every other room in the Eye, the walls and floors are covered with frost. Standing in an alcove at the southern end of the hallway (denoted by the star emblem) is a life-sized statue of a stone giant. Its arms are lifted up with hands outstretched with palms facing the northern end of the hall, which is well over 400' long.
Rixton, disappears up the set of stairs to the east...
...where he finds an upstairs hallway that is structurally very similar to the area below, but the northern portion has collapsed for some reason. Standing in an alcove at the south end of the hall is a life-size statue of a female cloud giant wearing an angry mask, her arms positioned in a way that suggests she’s casting a spell.
