"Strength in numbers may be best." the dwarf mutters to himself seeing another of the townsfolk ahead preparing to fight back against the orcs and giants. Moving as close as he can he roars out "Come on you ugly bastards, taste my axe".
OOC as close to Rixton's npc as possible whilst in the eye line of at least one orc.
Andor
Spurring his horse down the road Andor sees a couple of townsfolk standing ready in defence, the dwarf bellows out a challenge to the oncoming orcs as Andor dismounts. Feeling that defence might be important he summons a trio of copies of himself that flit back and forth making it hard to tell which is the real Andor.
"But friend, they are already in range" Carrow moves forward towards Vigan stopping halfway he fires another arrow at the leading Orc
Attack 16
Damage 9
Darz
Running was always the best course of action in waterdeep, when things got messy he got out, it was part of what led him to this town, to his new life. That was just it this place had been home for him for years now his new life was exactly that, a life. No more fighting in back alleys scraping a living with the guild. He looked up, strangers defended his home for him, across the square a figure fired a longbow, in front of him multiple version of the same man moved towards the danger each one flickering. He was done running. Darz checked his pockets still had the sling and his sword was at his belt. He turned and followed the flickering visions.
OOC: During contemplation Darz had moved to the T junction of Evermoor Way, changing his mind he turned back and began to follow Andor.
Ladrian and Darathra--each with crossbow ready--position themselves in the northeastern portion of the town square and prepare to eliminate the orcs charging southward on the Long Road. Meanwhile, Ghelryn and Andor continue to advance to the east where they will meet the other three mounted orcs. Once again, Carrow shows that he's up to the challenge of a long-distance shot; he places another arrow into the orc leading the charge (orc 1).
The three scouts, running in perfect stride with one another, continue their northward trajectory as they cross the open fields that lie between themselves and the invaders. Their distance from the orcs and the buildings that are obscuring their view have, thus far, prevented them from putting their longbows to good use.
The three orcs on the Long Road (orcs 1,2, and 3) continue to spur their axe beaks into full gallop. As the first orc draws closer to the main group in the square, two crossbow bolt whizz past him; Ladrian and Darathra were unable to place their shots successfully and bring the orc down. In the eastern part of Triboar, orcs 4 and 5 continue to race at full speed, heading west and directly toward Andor, who stands roughly 100' feet from orc 4. Orc 6, however, breaks from the group and steers his axebeak due south. The magmin delightfully continue to light more trees and buildings on fire. The orogs and fire giants continue their slow, intentional march toward the center of town.
Tracking:
Orc 1 is within 20' of Vigan and 30' of Ladrian.
Orcs 2 and 3 are both within 30' of Othovir.
Orc 4 is 100' from Andor and approximately 125' from Rixton
Orcs 4 and 5 are within 30' of Narth and within 40' of Ghelryn
The closest orogs (4 and 5) are approximately 140' from Andor.
(Actions for Rixton and Vigan are next, which will end the round. I will then post an updated map).
By the time the battle gets to me it will be decided, I think. I spur the horse on to the next house to the northeast (Move + cunning action). There, I pull my feet up under me and attempt to stand on the saddle, balancing while the horse sways beneath me.
Viola shimmies a bit at just the wrong time and I tumble off the horse, falling unceremoniously into a mud puddle. "Thanks, Viola," I say. "Your timing is impeccable."
----------
Narth:
He curses himself. Why did he run? He left Alaestra behind. No, maybe she is safer inside. But now is his chance to show what he is truly capable of. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward, after all. The lead orc comes around the corner and he sees an opportunity. Narth takes another shot at the orc with his hand crossbow.
Hand crossbow Attack: 12 Damage: 7
Narth then runs southeast along the back wall of The Lionshield Coster 60' (move + cunning action dash)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vigan
Standing his ground as the axe-beaks charge towards him carrying their masters, the goliath suddenly lets out a roar to match those of his foes, and charges the lead orc. Bringing his glaive round in a wide arc, he attempts to unseat the orc, continuing to spin a full 360 degrees and slashing at the rump of the axe-beak as it passes him.
Attack: 7
Damage: 9, rerolling the 2: 1 (think I have to take this, even if its lower, so 9 damage).
Action Surge:
Attack: 14
Damage: 7
Taking a few steps back towards the square, Vigan awaits the attacks that will surely follow.
First attack goes to the orc 1, second to axe-beak 1
Move 20ft as an action, attacks, then back up 10ft towards the square.
Othovir
The Illuskan winces as the goliath clashes with the orc and axe-beak. "Bound to be a few broken bones in that lot", he says out loud, possibly to the horseshoe hanging on the side of the building next to him. "I'm going to help, don't worry. Besides, I don't see you doing anything!"
The horseshoe firmly chastised, Othovir again whispers to himself, shaping his hands around a sphere of air until it catches fire, and directs it at the same orc.
Rixton, albeit somewhat awkwardly, places himself nearer to the battle; now just one house stands between him and the orogs and fire giants that are trodding across an open field. Narth, after firing his errant shot, heads south, which allows him a clear view of Zindra Winterbow and the two other scouts in full sprint toward him.
Meanwhile, Vigan nearly hews an orc in two with one swing just as it is struck by Othovir's fire bolt. After slaying the orc, the goliath's blade then cuts deeply into the riderless axebeak.
(Round 4 has ended. Andor, Carrow, and Ladrian may take their round 5 actions)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ladrian
"One down, let's get the next one. I want that drink"he says moving 30 feet and shooting his crossbow at mounter orc #2
Attack: 22 Damage: 11
Darathra
Influenced by Vigan's powerful attack, she charges forward and dashes the most as she can towards mounted orc #2, getting her longsword ready for next turn "Ah, nice swing Goliath! But let me show you how it is done! My name's Darathra!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Carrow
Holding his ground this time and quickly knocking another arrow he fires again (Orc 2)
Attack: 21
Damage: 10
Darz
Running now to keep up Darz reaches the sorcerer and stopped dead, this just got real. Looking up he sees an Orc, javelin in hand riding a bird like creature down the road of his home town. Time to act, his sling out and loaded, shoot and move he thought shoot and move.
Attack: 21
Damage: 6
OOC: Darz will move as close as he can to Andor before firing at Orc 4
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ghelryn
The dwarf sees the mounted orcs charging across his path, concerned that he won't be able to catch them he roars out a challenge "For clan Foehammer!" as he bears down in the first of the two orcs moving down the road.
Andor
Copies flickering around him the sorcerer stops his mount as soon as he is in range with his spells, dismounting the images resettle about him and as one the all point at the closest orc before launching a bolt of Frost at the axebeak the orc is riding.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ladrian's shot sails just over the head of the axe beak and catches the orc squarely in the chest, and Darathra stands ready with her longsword gleaming in the evening sunlight. Carrow's third arrow zips through the air, but this time the shot is slightly off target, and it sails harmlessly to the right of the second orc. Darz, on the other side of the square hasn't covered quite enough ground to be in range with his sling; he knows his chance, however, will soon be upon him. Ghelryn pushes forward, nearly reaching the narrow road to the north of the pond; the first taste of battle isn't far away as he watches a streak of blue light launch from Andor's hand and engulf the axe beak that is directly before him.
The riderless axe beak seems perfectly content to continue its southward rush; at full speed it runs between Vigan and Darathra and, then, between Ladrian and Carrow. The second orc, despite being badly wounded by Ladrian, stays low on its mount as it tries to avoid taking further damage. Rather than charging straight into the teeth of Vigan's glaive and Darathra's sword, the orc abruptly turns to the west, thereby keeping itself well out of melee range. The third orc slows its speed, bringing its axe beak to a near stop approximately 80' from Vigan and Darathra. It then lets a javelin fly, in hopes of catching the larger of the two targets.
Ranged javelin attack on Vigan: 8 | Piercing damage, if successful: 4
Meanwhile, on the eastern side of the square, the fourth orc catches the sight of Ghelryn Foehammer to his left; the orc steers the axe beak toward the dwarf and, raising his javelin high overhead, makes his strike.
Melee javelin attack on Ghelryn: 10 | Piercing damage, if successful: 9
The fifth and sixth orcs continue to viciously spur their mounts, maintaining maximum speed. Orc 5 races toward Andor, coming withing 30' of the sorcerer, and orc 6, with its axe beak kicking up dust all the while, races southward, seemingly ready to face the three scouts on his own.
Lastly, the greatest threat to Triboar--the band of orogs and the two fire giants--marches onward, the center of the town their apparent destination. No longer are they walking, however. All of them have begun to run...
All three scouts, now that orc 6 has raced into open territory, steady their longbows and fire a shot at the lone, brazen orc.
Zindra's longbow attack: 7 | Damage: 3
Scout 1 longbow attack: 7 | Damage: 4
Scout 2 longbow attack: 18 | Damage: 10
(Actions for Rixton and Vigan are next, which will conclude round 5. Andor, Carrow, and Ladrian may then begin round 6)

Narth:
Narth runs forward to get in range with his hand crossbow. He takes aim and fires on the Orc that just attacked Ghelryn (#4).
Hand crossbow Attack: 18 Damage: 3
He uses cunning action to dash back the same direction he was running as far as possible.
-------------
Rixton:
I curse my luck and pull myself out of the mud (half my movement). The window has closed for taking the high ground. I'll have to skirmish amid the town buildings. I draw an arrow (+1) and fire on the nearest orc (#5).
Short bow Attack: 13 Damage: 8
Then I mount Viola (half my movement) and (using cunning action) dash 60' behind the previous house (next to Andor).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vigan (Attack of Opportunity)
After slowing the axe-beak with his first attack, Vigan aims another slash at the bird as it passes him.
Attack: 15
Damage: 8
OOC - Messed up my new damage formula, so rerolling separately for the 2: 5 = total damage 12
Assuming I've turned the axe-beak into chicken soup :)
Vigan (Round 5)
Having dealt with the first axe-beak, Vigan starts running towards the remaining foes in front of him, wary of incoming javelins. "On me Darathra!", he shouts to his new ally.
Use Dodge as an action and run 30ft towards orcs 2 and 3.
Othovir
"A few too many orcs round here for my liking", Othovir remarks, running up behind the 2 mounted orcs preparing to engage with Vigan and Darathra. "Hey, get away from my property!"
Othovir spits in his hands and rubs them together while reciting a children's song about clapping your hands, spreads his arms out to his sides, and brings them together with a deafening boom.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Andor
Looking over at Rixton, as he approaches, Andor calls over "good to see you, thought me and these good people were going to be on our own." Spying the orogs moving in behind the mounted orcs he continues "there are a lot of them, I think we stay at distance, spells and arrows and draw them back towards the others.
Matching action to his words Andor hurls a jagged shard of ice at the closest orc then summoning the storm winds to pull him further away from the oncoming monsters.
As his spell detonated he calls to the dwarf ahead of him "Attack and fall back, draw them towards the keep."
Casts Ice Knife attack 6 for 10 cold damage then DC13 Dex save or 7
Bonus action Tempestuous Energy to move 10' away from orc 5 then regular movement until 70' away.
Ghelryn
Wincing as the javelin struck home Ghelryn swore as he pulled it out, noting the wound was bad but not terrible. He roared again and charged straight for the orc and its wounded axebeak. "Death to orcs!" Swinging twice at the orc he tried to bring him down quickly.
Attack 17 for 9
Attack2 8 for 11
Crit damage 8
Wtf! Critted and edited for the damage and it turned a 20 to a 1! Oh balls now it changed the damage and the roll again.
(Can confirm. It was a crit. When you edited the missing bracket on the dice roll, it threw up the manipulated roll message and doesn't save the rolls anymore)
Dexterity save for orc & axebeak 5 versus Andor's spell: 3
Narth, not expecting orc 4 to veer off the road so quickly, is unable to make an accurate shot. His crossbow bolt nearly catches Ghelryn in the back before sticking soundly into a nearby tree. Having no wish to be within melee range, Narth then covers as much ground as he can to allow himself room for another shot.
Orc 5 is moving too fast; Rixton is unable to line up his shot as the orc and axebeak streak past the house. Meanwhile, on the other side of the town square Vigan seizes the opportunity to down the first axe beak as it attempts to flee from the battle.
CON saves for orcs 2 and 3 & axe beaks 2 and 3
Orc 2: 10
Orc 3: 9
Axebeak 2: 14
Axebeak 3: 5
Othovir is undoubtedly pleased at the opportunity of standing behind two unaware orcs. The moment he finishes uttering the words to his spell, the entire town of Triboar shakes from a roll of thunder. Both orcs are unseated from their mounts as they do a front flip and land awkwardly on their backs in the middle of the road. Axe beak 3 is sent crashing into the fence to its left; only axe beak 2 seems unphased by the thunderous boom. Orc 3 will be able to stand and continue the fight, but orc 2 is no longer.
Ghelryn, with two decisive strikes brings down the orc that wounded him; axe beak 4 is now riderless. Although orc 5 was able to steer clear of Andor's initial spell, he and the axebeak ride full speed through the icy explosion.
(Carrow and Ladrian may take their round 6 actions. Monsters and scouts will then follow)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Carrow
Attack of opportunity.
Seeing the riderless Axebeak break through the others in front Carrow reaches for his back and draws his Longsword, as the creature passes by he takes a swipe at its flank.
Attack: 15 Damage: 7
Round 6
Darz
Moving up to Andor and seeing his chance the retired thief puts his sling to good use and lets a rock go towards Orc 5
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Swiftly and without mercy, Ladrian and Darathra finish off the only remaining orc on the western side of the town square.
The northern portion of Triboar has begun to look apocalyptic. Flames from multiple structures rise high into the sky as magmin continue to set building ablaze, and thick black smoke has begun to cloud the setting sun.
The two riderless axe beaks near Vigan and Ladrian show no interest in remaining near the chaos of battle; each one takes off in a full sprint, with one heading west and the other turning tail and running north.
To the east, axe beak 4 stands its ground and takes a slash at Ghelryn with its beak. (Beak attack: 13 | Slashing damage, if successful: 7)
Orc 5, with a sinister grin on its face, bears down on the nearest enemy and thrusts its javelin at Darz Helgar. (Melee javelin attack: 17 | Piercing damage, if successful: 9)
Orc 6 continues in full gallop, heading south, trying to draw the scouts fire away from the main battle. The scouts, once again, release a volley of three arrows, one from each.
Zindra's longbow attack: 7 | Damage: 10
Scout 1 longbow attack: 17 | Damage: 9
Scout 2 longbow attack: 22 | Damage: 7
Orc 6 absorbs one well-placed arrow but continues full speed on its intended path.
Meanwhile, the heavily armored orogs and fire giants draw ever nearer. Orog 4 crashes through a fence surrounding the open camping area, and orog 3 and both fire giants are close behind. Orog 5 dashes toward Ghelryn, and orog 1 lingers alone to the north of the action.
(Round 6 actions for Rixton and Vigan are next; Andor, Carrow, and Ladrian may follow thereafter with their round 7 actions)
Narth sees an orog (#5) coming up behind Ghelryn. "Look out!" he says in Dwarvish. He charges forward 30 feet and takes aim through the trees with his hand crossbow. It is a tough shot, so you takes care to line it up.
Attack: 20 Damage: 3
Then he hides behind the tree (using cunning action; Stealth: 17)
-----------
Rixton:
I move Viola forward a little bit to take aim at the Orog smashing through the fence (#4). He analyzes the orog's gait, as well as the gaps that open and close in its armor as it moves. I draw my (+1) arrow and estimate the weakest point, exhale, and fire, letting the bow dangle loosely in my grip.
Insightful fighting (contested by the orog's deception): 11
Short bow Attack: 24 Damage: 7
Sneak attack damage: 2 (Unless the Orog succeeds with the deception check)
I then back Viola up behind the house again, out of sight.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
Lyreis - Level 6 Elf Fighter - Eberron: Omega
DM - Dzenda: The Cracks - DM - Dzenda: Whispered Tales
CON saves for orcs 2 and 3 & axe beaks 2 and 3
Othovir is undoubtedly pleased at the opportunity of standing behind two unaware orcs.
Attack: 23 Damage: 5
Ladrian
Moves 30ft up towards the orcs and fires his crossbow at orc#3
Attack: 14 Damage: 7
Attack roll due to advantage: 15
Darathra
Hearing Vigan's cry for rally she also growls and rushes over to orc#3 with her longsword and tries to slash him twice:
Attack1: 10 Damage: 3
Attack2: 15 Damage: 8
Attack1 advantage roll: 17
Attack2 advantage roll: 18
Carrow
Seeing the Axebeak fall to Vigans attack the Ranger draws his bow and fires again rapidly. (Orc 3)
Attack: 8
Damage: 4
Updated map:
