Moving silently around the camp Carrow begins tracing a line around the groups tents casting Alarm after finishing he begins to make his way towards Andor and the others, keeping alert.
The group's movement and noise-making has lead them far enough to the south where they can dimly make out the shape of three humanoid creatures that are standing in a clump of trees to the south. The two creatures on the right and left are human-sized but very bulky. The creature in the center is extremely tall, with long legs and arms. It probably stands three or four feet higher than the other two. A deep, harsh voice says in Common, "I am Kulzash of the Evermoors; identify yourselves!"
The goliath moves south west without saying a word, aiming to flank the creatures if they turn aggressive. He peers through the fog to try and identify them better.

After setting an alarm around the camp, Carrow joins the other members of the group as Rixton and Andor are exchanging words with the one called Kulzash. Nearly simultaneously the sound of heavy footsteps crunching leaves and twigs comes from the east of the group, indicating that there is at least one other creature in that direction. Vigan's movement to the southwest leads him to the foot of the rocky hill and, more importantly within view of another creature--a bulky humanoid--in the fog.
Andor is nearly certain that the two bulky humanoids in the fog are orcs; the third, taller creature, however, he cannot quite identify.
Kulzash gives a clear indication that he's not pleased by Vigan's action. "Stay where you are, tall one." Kulzash offers no response to join the group for stew.
Another voice, seemingly from the very tall creature, utters words in Giant that are understood by Ladrian and Vigan:
Upon the new developments, hearing the new steps and the Giant talk he murmurs with himself "Who knew learning a bit of Giant for a con would be helpful". He then lowers his crossbow and speaks slowly in Giant
"Yes. We not enemies. We share good stew with you. We friends of Giants and trolls. We all lower weapons now and light fire for stew ok? I'm going to tell my friends to lower weapons and you do the same, ok?"he says louder
Keeping a jovial tone we speaks in Common for the rest of the crew "We're going to lower our weapons, light some fire for the stew and share with our guests. We're, after all, civil people. Someone get me the kitchen utensils please"
He switches to Giant and speaks louder and slowly "I'm going to light fire now for stew, for everyone. Lower your weapons please, we're all friends." Ladrian moves to get his tinderbox and a torch from his backpack and lights it up, in the hopes of shedding some light to this situation (eh!)
"Good idea, it's always nice to be able to see what is going on isn't it." With a casual flick of his wrist Andor reveals the stone with Light cast on it, holding it out in front of him with a smile on his face.

Vigan
The goliath comes to a halt at the command, grunts dismissively, and plants the butt of his glaive into the ground with a thud, giving a clear indication that he's not pleased by Kulzash's command. As much as I'd like to cut these beasts down, I will defer to my companions.... for now.
He watches the 2 shapes closest to him for any signs that the situation could turn for the worse, silently willing them to make an aggressive move.
The ranger watches and listens intently to all involved, a noise to the east catches his attention and set his nerves on edge. Not trusting the voices in the distance the Half-Orc remains at the back, kneels and watches to see what develops.
Stealth: 18
OOC: Carrow wishes to remain here hidden (hopefully) and out of sight to see how things develop.
Once again the words "Eat stew" are muttered in Giant by the tall figure. Kulzash responds in Common, "Yes, eat you will. Just a moment."
A moment later, all hell breaks loose. From behind the group comes the distinct, tinny sound of a ringing hand bell because something has triggered Carrow's Alarm spell. In front of the group, a troll suddenly emerges from the fog and into Andor's light; as it does so, it yells--in Giant, of course--"STEW!"
Two orcs, one of whom is Kulzash, are attempting to grab the troll by its arms. "You damned fool, there is no stew!" yells Kulzash. The other orc seems to have given up on restraining the troll; releasing its grip on the troll's arm, it takes hold of its greataxe in both hands.
The creature to the south of Vigan remains stationary, but the goliath can tell it has drawn some sort of weapon.
Initiative rolls:
DM: 11
Andor: 14
Carrow: 4
Ladrian: 11
Rixton:7
Vigan:4
NOTE:These rolls do not necessarily indicate that combat is taking, or will take, place. The current situation is somewhat hard to read for all characters and NPC's involved; therefore, I want to use initiative order as we move forward in case anyone's trigger finger slips, so to speak
Updated map:
Andor and Ladrian's actions are next; followed by the orcs and troll. Carrow, Rixton, and Vigan will follow.
Reading the situation quickly Ladrian speaks to the Orcs in Common "Now now, Gruumsh would not be pleased if we fight. Especially after all the hard work he had appearing to us in a vision." Ladrian resumes his movements to light a fire for the stew "I suppose Gruumsh uses believers and non-believers, as long as there's conquest and a big battle in the end". He stops for a second, blowing the small fire to make it bigger.
"If we wanted to fight, we could have ambushed you rather easily. However, that priest with a red robe, wearing an eye-patch, transformed into a rat and lead us here to find you. So calm down, there will be a time to fight other humans, but not us, not today." he says, happily stoking the fire (in the hopes he can see all the the enemy group!)
"Carrow, bring me some of those spices we have for cooking, if you don't mind", Ladrian says while pouring some water into the cauldron in the fire. "Oh and Andor, please turn that Alarm off, you're frightening our guests." he gestures to the two orcs and the Troll and switches to Giant "Come, come. Water is almost boiling, stew will not take long. By Gruumsh it will be a nice stew. Do you want to add any spice or meat that you like?" Ladrian says slowly
"Vigan, bring our guests near you, closer to the stew. They deserve it as well!" he says in a quick shout in Giant to Vigan before turning to Rixton "Ah, it looks like we party tonight my friend, or like we use to say in our homeland: "Forlin everyone comfortable, moky keep ly atami baker na the weapons", right Rixton? " he says quickly switching to thieves cant, blink a quick eye, and back to Common again "And bring us beer for everyone!"
"Now, enough with this standoff non-sense, come closer to fire, eat some stew and we will discuss our plans" Ladrian says in Giant a bit absentmindedly, not looking at them anymore, stirring the water in the cauldron and mixing the spices, letting the smell of it reach the orcs and the troll
@Jack_Joke I'm guessing you want me to roll something along with this RP, so I'll be rolling a Deception for the "Grummsh vison" part and a Persuasion for lowering the weapons and convince them to join our evening meal, but tell me if you want me to roll anything else :)
"Well ok, let's see how that goes..." Andor whispers under his breath "I'll see what I can do about the alarm." he says at a more audible volume. As he walks past Ladrian back to the camp he touches him on the shoulder as he mutters quietly in primordial, Ladrian feels his mouth grow warmer as the spell takes hold "Don't burp my friend" Andor chuckles to himself as he walks on.
Casting Dragon's Breath selecting fire as the type of breath attack and using 3 sorcery points to twin the spell to include Andor and Ladrian.
The two closest orcs' attention is divided between listening to Ladrian and anticipating what their troll friend is attempting to do. Kulzash is eventually knocked aside after taking the troll's forearm to the side of the head. As he struggles to maintain his balance, he mutters some orcish profanities. The second orc begins to respond to Ladrian's tale about the red-robed priest but upon seeing Andor's attempt to leave the area says, "What's he up to?! Hey!" The troll is wholly focused on Ladrian as it sheds the two orcs, but the monster quickly realizes that there is no pot of stew. Its disappointment is acute and quickly turns to anger, anger that it chooses to vent on Ladrian by taking two massive swings with its bare hands. The troll's left hand is completely free to attack, but Kulzash lunges at the troll's right hand in an attempt to stop the troll's aggression.
Left-hand claw attack:15| Slashing damage, if successful:12
Right-hand claw attack (w/ disadvantage):11| Slashing damage, if successful:14
The orc to the south steps forward a few steps with javelin in hand, but, for now, chooses to remain a spectator.
I sigh. I would have liked this to go more smoothly. "Oof," I say. "I'm really not the one for this, but here goes..." I dart to the troll and grab his left arm, mirroring Kulzash. "Easy, there big fella. Only good trolls get to eat stew. Be good, shhhh..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grappling contest roll for troll: 11
Rixton makes an attempt to join Kulzash in restraining the troll, but the monster is simply too strong. It breaks free from the rogue's grasp immediately.
This is getting out of hand... Silently cursing under his breath, he turns to the bulky figure standing under the tree to his south, still shrouded in fog. "You. This way."
If the NPC moves in response, then I'll wait for it to move towards me and walk beside it on it's left-hand side.
